Police have captured a convicted sex offender who escaped from detention after raping an 82-year-old woman  Police have captured a convicted sex offender who escaped from the detention center in Port Gibson. Othnie Claiborne of Patterson was charged last month with rape, robbery, breaking and entering and burglary of an 82-year-old woman. Police say he escaped sometime Sunday morning by cutting through the ceiling. He was re-captured Friday morning in Claiborne County.

"Man" Arrested In Child Rape Case Tevon Jones will appear in Petersburg court today. He is being arraigned on charges of burglary, abduction and rape.
He was arrested late last night after police say he sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl while she was sleeping after breaking into her home. Investigators tell us Jones knew the victim's family. - (White Boy) - (crime)

Sports: Disgraced Brooklyn high school basketball coach tied to
teen affair kills self  A disgraced Brooklyn high school basketball coach arrested this week for sleeping with a 14-year-old girl ended his life yesterday with a shotgun blast to the head, police said.
Lawrence Major, 45, shot himself as he sat in the front seat of his car near his sister's Queens home at 8:30 a.m., police said. Major, a popular teacher and winning coach at Paul Robeson High School in Crown Heights, was released on $25,000 bail Thursday - a day after he was arrested for allegedly carrying on a three-year relationship with the underage student. - (Rule .308) - (more sports) |

Another arrest in Vanderbilt University Dormitory shooting  A citizen’s tip to West Precinct detectives led to this afternoon’s arrest of the second gunman sought in connection with last Sunday morning’s shooting on the 10th floor of Vanderbilt University’s Morgan Hall dormitory.
Edward Earl Allen, Jr., 22, was arrested without incident at an apartment in the Welch Bend complex in South Nashville. Allen was getting out of the shower when officers arrived. Recovered from the apartment was a .380 semi-automatic pistol.

Murder Suspect In FBI Custody, Going Back to Texas AURORA, Colo. A man whose 14-year-old stepson was found dead in suburban Dallas is in the custody of the FBI.
Brian Booker, 37, was arrested overnight in Aurora after a short standoff.
Booker was expected to be taken back to Texas later on Thursday. He's been charged with one federal count of kidnapping. A murder charge was still pending.
Booker's stepson Joshua Henry was found dead in a vacant area in Lancaster. Police could not release details about the
condition of Henry's body when found or how he may have died..

County Commissioner William Cotton Arrested For Extortion In Operation Tennessee Waltz He was taken in handcuffs to the Federal Courthouse. Willam
Cotton was charged with taking a bribe to get a resolution passed on the County Commission dealing with the E-Cycle firm getting outdated equipment from the county. E-Cycle turned out to be a bogus company set up by the FBI.
He faces up to 20 years in federal prison. The FBI said Cotton received $3,000 and Love got $3,000 from the $6,000 given

Ex-Municipal Judge Sentenced To Prison - Neal Pleaded Guilty To Mail Fraud - (No longer a candidate to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice O'Connor) Bush Close To Selecting Justice O'Connor's Replacement A former Kansas City municipal judge was sentenced to prison for a fraud scheme that involved soliciting money from attorneys and others.
Deborah A. Neal, 54, must serve two years and four months in federal prison without parole.
Neal was a Municipal Court judge from May 1996 to November 2004, when she resigned her position. Neal pleaded guilty to mail fraud. Neal received nearly $36,000 from at least 17 attorneys and three bonding companies. Illegal alien Oswaldo Elias Martinez from El Salvador Judged "Incompetent" to Stand Trial for Rape Murder of White Girl  
After hearing arguments, a judge ruled that a deaf, mute and illiterate man was not competent to stand trial for capital murder in the rape and slaying of a teenage girl. Oswaldo Martinez, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, was indicted in May on charges of raping and killing 16-year-old Brittany Binger. Police say they arrested him after learning that DNA from the semen on Binger's body matched DNA swabbed from Martinez's cheek. Raymond Mata Jr. resentenced to death for the murder and dismemberment of his former girlfriend's 3-year-old son  Mata showed little emotion in the courtroom as the judge read the sentence. "Mata's actions were so bereft of redemption that it demands the death penalty."
This is the second time Mata has been sentenced to death for this crime. Mata was convicted of the 1999 kidnapping and murder of 3-year-old boy Adam Gomez in Scottsbluff. Parts of the boy's body were found in Mata's freezer and in a dog bowl. Mata's attorneys had contended that electrocution is unconstitutional. But the judge said that while the use of the electric chair could be considered outdated, it isn't cruel and unusual. - (Brewski) - (crime) |

The five dead were all Mexican immigrants.
Police in Kissimmee, Fla., arrested a man late Wednesday on suspicion he sexually battered a man inside a restroom of a vacation resort. Deputies said Ronald Burns allegedly followed the man into the restroom,
performed the sex act on him, thanked him and then left. Police said the victim was incapable of realizing right from wrong.
