  Jan Kempdorp - "I will always remember it. He had such huge, strong hands, but when I touched them, they were ice-cold." So said Andrew Martinson on Tuesday after his 75-year-old father, Charlie, had been found murdered on his farm near here. Martinson had farmed in the district for 48 years. The police didn't want Andrew to see his father's body. Captain Tony Modise said the dead man's hands and feet had been tied and the killers had put a large armchair on his body. It seemed as if he had been hit on the head several times with a heavy object. 
• Nigerian lynched for witchcraft
  A mob in northern Nigeria has beaten to death a man who police say confessed to involvement in ritual murders. The incident came after three women were found murdered and mutilated in Bakori town in Katsina state. Their body parts are thought to have been removed for use in rituals.  While Islam is the dominant faith in northern Nigeria, some people also believe in traditional practices - for example that magic charms made from human body parts can bring success. - (Madkins)

• Namibia: Human head paraded in cuca shops
  The Police at Okongo and Eenhana in the Ohangwena Region are investigating a murder case in which  60-year-old Elias Shoombe was beheaded and the murder suspect paraded the head on a stick in nearby villages on Saturday.  Police at Okongo have arrested Josef Hakaonde (33) in connection with the gruesome murder.  Hakaonde is claimed to have confessed that he killed Shoombe because he allegedly had an affair with Hakaonde's girlfriend in 2002.   An HIV-positive man who could have inflicted a death sentence on his 12-year-old rape victim has been sent to prison for life. The Witness said the Pietermaritzburg High Court heard  that Thulani Hadebe (36) was HIV-positive when he raped his girlfriend's daughter.
