Pentagon man jailed over spying for Israel and pro-Israeli lobby group AIPAC A former US defence department analyst has been sentenced to 12 years and seven months in prison for disclosing classified information.
Larry Franklin passed information to an Israeli diplomat and two members of a pro-Israeli lobby group. He said he was motivated by frustration with aspects of US foreign policy.
Franklin has agreed to co-operate with the prosecution in the case against the two lobbyists and could have his sentence reduced as a result. The sentence Franklin received was already at the low end of the sentencing parameters for his offences.
He was accused of passing information to Steven Rosen and Keith Weissman of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) from 2002 to 2004. - (Newsroom) |

Sports: Judge Throws Out Gang Rape Charges Against 6 Former Black UTC Footballers  Judge Clarence Shattuck threw out rape charges against six former UTC football players.
Judge Shattuck said there was not enough evidence that the sex at Boling Apartments on Oct. 21, 2005, was not consensual as the players contended.
The state could still take the case to the Hamilton County Grand Jury if it chooses.
The ruling came after a day-long hearing in which the 18-year-old former student testified for several hours.
The players had been thrown off the football team and dismissed from school after the charges were brought.
The defense focused on the background of the alleged rape victim. Ardyce Ridolfo of the Rape Crisis Center said she examined the young woman and found she had a half-inch tear in her vaginal wall. She said that is an indication of the use of force during sex. Ms. Ridolfo said the woman told her she had been sexually assaulted by six different men after she had consumed a lot of alcohol and was intoxicated.

Perrie Dyon Simpson was pronounced dead by injection at 2:17 a.m. Simpson was executed by injection for the murder of retired 92-year-old minister Jean Darter of Reidsville in August 1984. A day earlier, the minister had given food and $4 in cash to Simpson and his girlfriend, Stephanie Eury, and allowed Simpson to use his telephone. Rev. Jackson Denies Threatening Minister LOS ANGELES -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson denied on the witness stand Thursday that he threatened or encouraged violence against a conservative black minister who claimed he was roughed up during a 2001 confrontation with Jackson and his son.
Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, founder and president of the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny, sued Jackson alleging assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The lawsuit also named Jackson's son Jonathan Jackson, who was accused of battery and false imprisonment. - (Newsroom) |

Jurors began deliberating in the politically charged trial of five Democratic activists who are accused of slashing the tires of 25 vans rented by the Republican Party. The 29-year-old man, who was arrested in October on suspicion of stabbing the women to death in two separate attacks, was charged after a series of psychiatric evaluations. The suspect confessed to the killings, telling investigators he drank the women's blood with hopes of "gaining their strength" and ate pieces of flesh stripped from one victim's torso, said Anders Persson, police spokesman in the central city of Gavle. Black National Guard Reservist faces capital felony, murder charges  Officials say a 20-year-old soldier from Hartford preparing for deployment to Afghanistan is facing charges in a double murder case. Steven Debow faces capital felony and murder charges in connection with a double killing at a Hartford grocery store earlier this month. Debow, a private, is expected to be extradited back to Connecticut next week from North Carolina. The charges stem from a shooting January sixth at Elizabeth Grocery in Hartford's North End. Sexual Assault Case Led Police To Body In Cement  Milwaukee police found a body in encased cement in a basement.
According to a criminal complaint, officers went to the home on a sexual assault case. Kenyon Isom, 20, is charged with bringing a 14-year-old girl to the house repeatedly to have sex.
The complaint said he took the girl to his bedroom in the basement. While Milwaukee police were investigating this case, they found the body buried in the basement floor.
It had apparently been there more than five years.

"Police brutality" - "No Justice - No Peace!" - Black Dallas Cop Bloodies White Roller Derby Woman  Finger pointing has begun after a scuffle between an officer and a Dallas Roller Derby League skater ended with the woman on the ground with a bloody face Saturday night.
Michelle Metzinger, who skates for Assassination City, was skating down Elm Street when police Officer Ceaphus Gordon stopped her in front of Elm Street Tattoo, which was where the differences in story began.
"I have bruises and scratches all over me," Metzinger said. "You have no idea how rough he was on me." However, police said Metzinger tried to gouge the officer's right eye in the fight.
But some witnesses also had a different opinion from the officer's account of what occurred that night."He just jumps on her and puts his knee on the back of her head with her face in the ground like so brutally," said Oliver Peck, tattoo artist. "It was ridiculous, and instantly blood was everywhere and she's crying bloody murder like helplessly." Peck said he saw the police officer give Metzinger a ticket for jaywalking and then jumped on her twice when she tried to pull away. They are accused of hitting McClain in the head with bottles and cans and jumping off cars onto his head.
