Black National Guard Reservist faces capital felony, murder charges  Officials say a 20-year-old soldier from Hartford preparing for deployment to Afghanistan is facing charges in a double murder case. Steven Debow faces capital felony and murder charges in connection with a double killing at a Hartford grocery store earlier this month. Debow, a private, is expected to be extradited back to Connecticut next week from North Carolina. The charges stem from a shooting January sixth at Elizabeth Grocery in Hartford's North End. Authorities found the bodies of 26-year-old Elizabeth Morel of Hartford, and 39-year-old Enrique Perez. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Sexual Assault Case Led Police To Body In Cement  Milwaukee police found a body in encased cement in a basement.
According to a criminal complaint, officers went to the home on a sexual assault case. Kenyon Isom, 20, is charged with bringing a 14-year-old girl to the house repeatedly to have sex.
The complaint said he took the girl to his bedroom in the basement. While Milwaukee police were investigating this case, they found the body buried in the basement floor.
It had apparently been there more than five years.

Sports: Footballer Greg Wesley arrested after he allegedly threatened to punch a bouncer at the Blonde loungue  KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chiefs defensive back Greg Wesley was arrested by police early Thursday after he allegedly threatened to punch a bouncer at Blonde, a lounge on the Country Club Plaza. A police report said that the bouncer told officers that he refused Wesley's request to enter the bar at about 12:30 a.m. because Wesley previously had "been banned from the business." Michelle Metzinger, who skates for Assassination City, was skating down Elm Street when police Officer Ceaphus Gordon stopped her in front of Elm Street Tattoo, which was where the differences in story began.
"I have bruises and scratches all over me," Metzinger said. "You have no idea how rough he was on me." However, police said Metzinger tried to gouge the officer's right eye in the fight.
But some witnesses also had a different opinion from the officer's account of what occurred that night."He just jumps on her and puts his knee on the back of her head with her face in the ground like so brutally," said Oliver Peck, tattoo artist. "It was ridiculous, and instantly blood was everywhere and she's crying bloody murder like helplessly." Peck said he saw the police officer give Metzinger a ticket for jaywalking and then jumped on her twice when she tried to pull away. Garner Police Seek Statutory Rape Suspect N.C. -- Garner police are looking for a 21-year-old man who they charged on Tuesday with statutory rape. Authorities say Jason McCray is wanted for a sexual relationship he had with a 14-year-old girl in both Wake and Johnston counties. McCray is also charged with statutory rape in in Johnston County. Demont Cortez Bowie pleads guilty to kidnapping 13-year-old girl and pimping her  IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - A Wellman man faces a possible life prison sentence after pleading guilty to an interstate kidnapping charge in the abduction and sexual exploitation of a 13-year-old girl, federal prosecutors said.
Demont Cortez Bowie, 26, entered the plea in federal court.
Bowie admitted that he met the girl in Minneapolis on March 17. He forced her to perform sex acts on several occassions in exchange for money or drugs. He drove the girl to Iowa and until mid-April the girl was used as a prostitute in Cedar Rapids and throughout northeast Iowa. Bowie forced the victim to perform oral sex on the friend in exchange for $20 and on another acquaintance in exchange for cocaine. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |
Jury Reaches Guilty Verdict In Niles Scott Rape Case - Fugitive Nabbed After Being Profiled On 'Oprah'  CLEVELAND -- It took jurors just four hours of deliberation before finding Niles Scott guilty in the rape and kidnapping of his niece. Scott is guilty on all charges against him, including four counts of rape and four counts of kidnapping. Scott was a fugitive from the law until he was profiled on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in October, and viewers helped track him down in Belize. Last week, jurors listened to taped phone conversations of his victim accusing him of rape. BNP boss 'predicted bomb attacks'   British National Party leader Nick Griffin predicted Islamic terrorists would detonate bombs in major British cities, Leeds Crown Court has heard. Mr Griffin and party activist Mark Collett are accused of using words or behaviour likely to stir up racial hatred, in speeches in West Yorkshire. Mr Griffin made his prediction more than a year before the 7 July attacks.

Australia: Riot row over 'PC policing' A BRAWL has broken out over suggestions the NSW Government has been too politically correct to arrest the people responsible for revenge attacks in the wake of the Cronulla riot.
NSW Opposition Leader Peter Debnam yesterday repeated his attack on the Iemma Government for being soft on ethnic crime and criticised police for failing to arrest people of Middle Eastern descent.
Premier Morris Iemma denied telling police to go soft on people of Middle Eastern descent and responded angrily to the comments.

Four more teenagers were charged Tuesday in the mob beating of Samuel McClain who told investigators he was assaulted after he tried to buy crack cocaine in Milwaukee. An Assistant District Attorney said two 16-year-olds and two 14-year-olds were charged as juveniles with first-degree reckless injury. They are accused of hitting McClain in the head with bottles and cans and jumping off cars onto his head. Latrail Ball and Jamael Robinson were charged over the weekend as adults with being party to first-degree reckless injury. Prosecutors accuse the six of being among 15 to 30 people who beat 50-year-old 
A former high school teacher who pleaded guilty to the homosexual rape of one of his teenage students will avoid jail time. 
For the second time this week, a homosexual teacher has been given no prison time for sexually assaulting one of his students.
The latest case involves Gary Hoff, a 44-year-old former choir instructor for the Parkview School District in Orfordville, Wis. Rock County Judge Alan Bates sentenced Hoff to three years probation after he pleaded no contest to one count each of disorderly conduct and misdemeanor fourth-degree sexual assault of a
