"Latino" raped 21-year-old woman inside a gas station restroom while her two young children were threatened
A woman who stopped at a Cottonwood Heights gas station around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday was raped on a restroom floor as she held her 1-year-old son in her arms and her 3-year-old daughter looked on. The woman checked to make sure the restroom door was open, then returned to her car, got her two children and went back in, Jaroscak said. There, a man was waiting for her.
"He told her not to scream, not to flee, or he would hurt the 3-year-old,"  Her alleged attacker is described as a Latino male who is between 35 and 40 years old; he is about 6 feet, 1 inch tall, with a muscular build, short black hair, brown eyes and a teardrop tattoo near the corner of one of his eyes. - (Frank) - (crime)  Citizenship status of suspect unknown

• Man Accused of Racially Motivated Shooting
  MOORHEAD, Minn. -- A 67-year-old accused of shooting a man just because he is black faces trial this week on attempted murder and other charges. Authorities allege that James Waltz, who is white, had told a neighbor he hoped to someday kill a black person before he shot Ricky Davis outside a bar in International Falls in November 2004. The allegations of racism disturbed many in International Falls, which is about 95 percent white. Only 19 of the 6,605 residents counted in the 2000 U.S. Census were black. However the college has increased its racial diversity in recent years, primarily by recruiting black football players.

Good Samaritan's killer gets 55 years in prison - 77-year-old widow let black "salesman" in home
Anything short of life in prison without parole is too good for the selfish teenager who brutally murdered a 77-year-old widow after she let him into her home for a drink of water on a hot day when he was going door-to-door selling magazine subnoscriptions, tearful relatives of the victim told a judge. The family of murder victim Shirley Reuter left the Courthouse disappointed after Superior Court Judge Edward J. Turnbach imposed only a 55-year prison term on 19-year-old Azriel Bridge.  "I'm very disappointed that this guy has the opportunity to perhaps go back into society and do this again,'' said David Reuter, son of the victim, after Turnbach imposed the sentence on Bridge. "He's obviously a deviant,'' David Reuter said of Bridge, who sat speechless with a blank stare throughout the sentencing hearing. "I don't understand the judge's decision. I don't,'' Reuter said. "He got away (with it),'' Shirley Reuter's granddaughter, Devena Gargano said of Bridge. "It should have been life.'' Bridge said that he beat Reuter with a fireplace bellows and poker and stabbed her with a knife he grabbed from her kitchen after she let him into her  home on a spring day in 2004 when he was canvassing her neighborhood for magazine sales. Bridge beat her with the fireplace bellows until it broke. "I cannot think of a more depraved, cruel, savage murder,'' DeLigny said, asking Turnbach to impose a life prison term.
