• Swedish 12 year old raped in Thai resort
  A man has been arrested in Thailand on suspicion of raping a twelve year old Swedish girl in the holiday resort of Koh Samui, according to Thai authorities. The man was an employee at the hotel where the girl was staying with her family, reported Aftonbladet and Expressen. The rape is alleged to have taken place just after New Year and the man was arrested a couple of days later. The man has admitted to police that he had sexual intercourse with the girl, but he denies that he used force. It is illegal to have sex with anyone under the age of 15 in Thailand. - (-88-)
  
  
• Duc Tuan Dinh, 34, of Santa Ana, was arrested Friday on suspicion of pimping and pandering
  Police arrested a man believed to have led a prostitution ring in Orange County that is linked to a national operation using Asian women smuggled into the United States. Duc Tuan Dinh, 34, of Santa Ana, was arrested  on suspicion of pimping and pandering. Dinh is suspected of running about 10 brothels across Orange County. The women were Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Thai immigrants. They arrived at the house from Oakland, Seattle, West Virginia and New York. Good Samaritan's killer gets 55 years in prison - 77-year-old widow let black "salesman" in home
Anything short of life in prison without parole is too good for the selfish teenager who brutally murdered a 77-year-old widow after she let him into her home for a drink of water on a hot day when he was going door-to-door selling magazine subnoscriptions, tearful relatives of the victim told a judge. The family of murder victim Shirley Reuter left the Courthouse disappointed after Superior Court Judge Edward J. Turnbach imposed only a 55-year prison term on 19-year-old Azriel Bridge.  "I'm very disappointed that this guy has the opportunity to perhaps go back into society and do this again,'' said David Reuter, son of the victim, after Turnbach imposed the sentence on Bridge. "He's obviously a deviant,'' David Reuter said of Bridge, who sat speechless with a blank stare throughout the sentencing hearing. "I don't understand the judge's decision. I don't,'' Reuter said. "He got away (with it),'' Shirley Reuter's granddaughter, Devena Gargano said of Bridge. "It should have been life.'' Bridge said that he beat Reuter with a fireplace bellows and poker and stabbed her with a knife he grabbed from her kitchen after she let him into her  home on a spring day in 2004 when he was canvassing her neighborhood for magazine sales. Bridge beat her with the fireplace bellows until it broke. "I cannot think of a more depraved, cruel, savage murder,'' DeLigny said, asking Turnbach to impose a life prison term.

N.C. -- More than eight years ago, a black named Abner Nicholson gunned down the White police chief of Sharpsburg
Since then, a picture of Abner Nicholson hung in the police department -- until now. The sister of the slain lawman says taking down Nicholson's picture is an insult to her brother's memory. "They've not forgotten my brother, which makes me feel good," said Chief Willard Wayne Hathaway's sister, Monica Worsham. "But I don't want them to forget who took him from us" Worsham is livid that town officials removed the picture of the man who killed her brother in 1997. The snapshot of Nicholson had been posted on the bulletin board in the police station lobby with the captions "don't ever forget this face" and "dead man walking."  Sharpsburg's new mayor, Sheila Williams, objected to the picture and the caption.
