  Fabiola Guevara and her mother illegally invaded the U.S. from Mexico 11 years ago. Like thousands of other illegal immigrant students, Guevara was ineligible for college financial aid. Federal law prohibits illegal immigrant students from receiving government-backed loans and grants to attend college. But idiot lawmakers in Congress like Sens. Richard Durbin, D-Ill., Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., and Richard Lugar, R-Ind., have proposed legislation to help students like Guevara.

  The rebels' ski-masked spokesman, Subcomandante Marcos, arrived Monday in a caravan of minivans, SUVS and pickup trucks. The night before, Marcos formally launched the nationwide tour with a speech railing against capitalism, free trade and the Mexican government before 15,000 rebels and sympathizers who waved banners ranging from black and red anarchist flags to communist hammers and sickles at a platform beside the city's cathedral. Marcos said "...they suffer racism," 

• Finland: Somali teens jailed for violent mugging of a young girl and boy - accused of sexual assault
  Three youths sentenced to prison terms over series of muggings in Helsinki. In a case involving a series of robberies in downtown Helsinki last autumn, the Helsinki District Court sentenced three young men to prison terms on Friday for the violent mugging of a young girl and boy.
  The 18-year-olds Abdiasis Mohamed Abdullahi and Ahmed Yusuf Ahmad, of Somali origin, both received prison sentences of two years and two months for aggravated robbery. One of them was convicted for the mugging of the girl, and the other for the robbery involving the boy.
  Another 17-year-old youngster of Somali origin was sentenced to two years in prison for the same muggings. The court found him guilty of participating in two aggravated robberies while being under age. While they were sitting on a park bench, a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were assaulted and robbed. The offenders had demanded that they give them their money and mobile phones. The haul also included a CD player/recorder and one disc. The girl also told of having been sexually assaulted. The incident had involved brutal and cruel violence, as it was demonstrated that while they were lying on the ground the victims had been kicked in the head. - (-88-)

  Alain Maximilien, whose father is Haitian and whose mother is American, and the other man were freed after a total of over $40,000 in ransom, along with 10 pairs of sneakers and a radio, were handed during the three-day long negotiation, the victims said. Some of the ransom was apparently stolen en route and did not make it to the kidnappers.

  Richard G. Manning, 48, senior pastor of Parma Baptist Church, was in court Monday in connection with one count of rape.
  Manning told the victim, who is from Thailand, that he would have her deported if she told anyone about what was going on.

  A Jewish organisation that tracks down Nazi war criminals overnight slammed Estonia's judiciary as inept and corrupt after the Baltic state's prosecutor dropped a case against an Estonian businessman accused of murdering Jews in World War II.  The Israeli director of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre has accused Harry Mannil, now 85 and resident in Venezuela, of murder. Estonian prosecutors on Friday dropped a case, saying their probe turned up no evidence to implicate Mannil in war crimes and that his hands were "clean of blood."
