A visiting priest from Africa was arrested yesterday on charges of fondling a 16-year-old girl A visiting priest from Africa was arrested on charges of fondling a 16-year-old girl in the rectory of a Brooklyn church. The Rev. Anthony Ocloo, 45, a student at St. John's University who arrived from Ghana nine months ago, denied the allegations at his arraignment on misdemeanor charges of sex abuse and child endangerment. Prosecutors said Ocloo molested the teen in the rectory of St. Ephrem's, the parish where he has lived since his arrival from Ghana. The Assistant District Attorney said the victim was stuffing envelopes beside Ocloo at the rectory when the priest allegedly lowered the blinds and began to hug, kiss and grope her. Sports: Ex-Wrestler Indicted in Prostitution Ring Case - "a ruthless pimp" A wrestler who was once known as "Hardbody Harrison" has been indicted on charges of running a prostitution ring and using beatings and sexual assault to keep eight women in sexual slavery. Federal authorities say Harrison Norris Jr. was a ruthless pimp who kept the women virtual prisoners in two Cartersville homes he owned. Aimee Allen, 33 and Cedric Lamar Jackson, 39 have also been charged. "From April 2004 to August 2005, the defendants recruited and sometimes kidnapped young women and then forced them to engage in prostitution in the Atlanta metropolitan area for their financial benefit," said an indictment. - (NNN Newsroom) - (crime) - (more sports) |

Life without parole sought for suspect A man accused of shooting two police officers faces spending the rest of his life in prison. “We are going to file that he be sentenced to life without parole,” Pascoe told a magistrate prior to a bond hearing for Roger Johnson. “He is a man who spent most of his adult life in the state Department of Corrections. And we are going to be sure he spends the rest of his life in prison,” Pascoe said. Johnson is accused of shooting the two officers in a gun battle that erupted at a dimly lit location on Stilton Road. Lt. James Shumpert and Deputy Kenneth McCaster, who have a combined law enforcement experience of 29 years, were both shot at point-blank range in the incident. Low down Pompano teacher accused of molesting student, 12, while giving him a ride Detectives arrested a geography teacher at Crystal Lake Middle School in Pompano Beach on Tuesday morning on charges he kidnapped and molested one of his 12-year-old students. Adrian W. Valdez ordered his student to after-school detention Monday afternoon, said Hugh Graf, spokesman for the Broward Sheriff's Office. He promised to give the child a ride to his parents, but instead took him to his Deerfield Beach home where he molested the boy, Graf said. Jury will consider Hong Kong born Ngai's insanity defense in psycho cleaver computer-chip slay of wheelchair-bound music prof Testimony in the trial of a former student at The University of Texas, charged with killing his music professor, begins Tuesday. Jury selection wrapped up late Monday in Jackson Ngai's case. Ngai is standing trial for Danielle Martin's death. She was a music professor at UT. Ngai does not deny killing Martin but is pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. Jackson Ngai Trial Starts Ngai sat quietly as police testified about the night they found Martin's body in her home with more than 200 stab wounds. One officer said that Ngai was there with blood on his face, and there were numerous cutting instruments nearby including a cleaver knife. Police say that Ngai told them he thought Professor Martin had a computer chip in her brain. His defense hopes to convince jurors Ngai is not guilty by reason of insanity. The keyboard professor was in a wheelchair and welcomed Ngai into her home to help her. Jackson Ngai was born in Hong Kong in 1981, the second of three brothers. The Ngais moved to Hawaii when Jackson was 9. |

Principal Reacts to Rape Incident at Local School The principal at Laney High School is trying to calm parents concerned about school safety because a student is accused of raping a classmate in a school bathroom. A letter went home with Laney students, detailing the incident last week. 17-year-old Marcus Robinson is charged with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a female student. Women Take Stand In Rape Trial Of Nigerian Migrant OB-GYN SEATTLE -- Women who accused a local gynecologist of raping and molesting them during exams took the stand Tuesday in the trial of Dr. Charles Momah. Momah faces charges of rape and indecent liberties. Seven women said he touched them in a sexual manner. Two of women testified Tuesday about how they felt on the exam table. "It was more like the way my husband would touch me," said one of the women. "I pulled back … because it was uncomfortable. It didn't feel right, it made me very uneasy." rapes WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Six prison officials were found not liable Tuesday in a federal lawsuit claiming they violated a gay convict's constitutional right against cruel and unusual punishment by ignoring his pleas for protection from inmate rapes.
