But their long journey to a new home ended when they arrived in the United States on a chartered flight. Monday's arrivals were the first of some 1,600 Vietnamese refugees expected to make their way to this country under an agreement allowing asylum-seekers scattered in the Philippines since 1989 to resettle in the United States. |

Counselor Joel Natividad charged with raping a teenage resident of the home Sacramento prosecutors say they'll be asking for a higher bail in the case of a group home counselor charged with raping a teenage resident.
Joel Natividad, 45, was arraigned on the felony charge.
Natividad worked as a counselor at one of the two Sacramento area Stanford Homes for girls. He was the only adult counselor on duty during overnight hours at the Orangevale house, where up to seven teenage girls are housed.
Natividad sexually assaulted the 17-year-old girl in the home during the early morning hours of September 13. Later that day the girl reported the incident, saying he forced her into the sex act. The following day Natividad was arrested. - (-88-) - (Norcal) |

Black basketballer only gets 90 days for raping a 15-year-old girl   A former Montana State University basketball player was sentenced Monday to 90 days in jail for twice raping a 15-year-old girl, at least once when she was passed out after drinking whiskey with him. District Judge Mike Salvagni also gave Frank Brown a six-year deferred sentence and ordered him to undergo treatment and register as a sexual offender. Brown, 21, of Las Vegas, apologized to the court, then asked to serve his jail time at a future date. The girl, now 16, told Brown she was angry at him and said he had shown no remorse. Four Black Boys Arrested For Sexually Molesting Girls On Bus TAVARES, Fla. -- Four Lake County students, ages 12 to 14, were arrested for attacking girls on a school bus Friday morning. The boys ripped off female students' clothes and snapped pictures. The four boys victimized three girls on a school bus and at a
bus stop. They used a camera phone to take pictures and short video clips as
they pulled the girls' clothes off. The four were charged with felonies: lewd and lascivious
molestation and simple battery. The four forcefully held female classmates down while riding a school bus. "During this time, the boys fondled their breast area under their shirt and also their genital areas over their clothing, then pulled down their shirts and to expose their breasts so that they could photograph them," said Sgt. Suspected serial low-down Arlington rapist caught  Police caught a suspected serial rapist Monday that allegedly was involved in several attacks of Arlington women. The suspect, Michael Anthony Tristan, is a registered high-risk sex offender after an incident involving a 10-year-old boy in Houston. Now, police are investigating whether the man is also linked to recent assaults on women in North Texas. All of the alleged attacks happened within two miles of one another in Arlington. School Employee Horace Morris Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Student MIAMI -- Police arrested a man Monday they say forced a student to perform oral sex on him during a "counseling" session. Horace Morris, who is an administrative assistant at Jann Mann Opportunity
School in Miami, is charged with sexual battery.
Police said 34-year-old Morris took the girl into his office last Monday and assaulted her. The girl later told her mother, who contacted school police.
Police said the girl was hospitalized after the assault.

Hospital Worker Charged With Raping Patient PHILADELPHIA -- An employee of Mercy Hospital in southwest Philadelphia is being charged with raping a patient. Police have confirmed that they arrested emergency room technician Christopher Summers, 32. "No one came to her aid. She's pulling the cord and no one came, no one called, no one did anything," said Kerneisha Boyd, the alleged victim's relative. The 23-year-old victim said that she wanted to tell her story, but the hospital refused to let NBC 10's cameras inside. The woman said she woke up early Sunday morning and found him on top of her. Christopher Lester Hollis was stopped by Fresno police Friday and brought into custody on an arrest warrant related to the alleged homicide of Willis-Starbuck on July 17, Berkeley police spokesman Joe Okies said.
