Kerry Spencer sentenced to death for assassination of three Alabama Police Officers - Justice Prevails: Killer Receives Death   Chuck Canterbury, national president of the Fraternal Order of Police, welcomed today's news that Kerry Spencer, convicted of murdering three law enforcement officers in Alabama last summer, was sentenced to death. On June 17, 2004, Kerry Spencer, who admitted selling as much as $3,000 worth of crack a day from a filthy apartment in a poor neighborhood of Birmingham, Ala., opened fire at close range with an automatic SKS Chinese assault rifle on four officers that arrived at the apartment to arrest his friend. He wounded one officer and killed three others -- Carlos Owen, Harley Chisholm III and Charles Robert Bennett. He confessed to the murders and was convicted by a jury of three counts of capital murder and one count of attempted murder of a police officer. The three, ages 12, 13 and 14, were charged with assault, and police are investigating the possibility that the attack was a bias crime. The victim, who is white, said she was jumped by four black girls and one black boy, who kicked and punched her while shouting racial slurs. She was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital, West Brighton, and treated for a concussion, a gash under her left eye, a swollen jaw and an injury to her right eye that may result in permanent damage, her parents said. "They smashed me over the face with a bottle until it broke," said the girl, whose identity is being withheld by the Advance. | Ohio Jury Convicts Negro of Kidnapping 5-year-old White Girl - facing only three years to 10 years COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Jurors convicted a man Friday of kidnapping a 5-year-old girl, but acquitted him of a rape charge that could have brought a mandatory life sentence. The girl is presumed dead, but Bruce was not charged with murder.   Lindsey Bruce was charged with kidnapping and raping Emily Rimel, who has been missing since December. She was last seen in her Madison Township home on the night when Bruce was visiting. Rimel's body has not been found and Bruce was not charged with murder. Accused child rapist has been captured The United States Marshal got your help in bringing in Gregory Varner. The victim in this case was only 11-years-old - the daughter of a woman Varner had become acquainted with.
Police say Varner is dangerous with a background of violence and drug abuse.
"He is known to the system," said Cleveland Police Lt. Thomas Stacho. "He has a long, violent history. He has offenses including burglary, breaking and entering, grand theft of a motor vehicle and other theft offenses."

Man Suspected In Sexual Assault Arrested  COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A man suspected in a Columbus rape was arrested after police spent days searching for him. Cornell Sean Kelly, 29, was caught by members of a federal and
county task force.
An anonymous tip led officials to Kelly's location in a house on the city's east side.
Investigators said that Kelly sexually assaulted a woman on Sept. 3. Police said he injured the victim during the assault.
Police said Kelly had been released from prison in 2003 and was out on parole for robbery.

Level 3 sex offender Titus Jenkins exposed himself to a 13-year-old girl  Police said Wednesday morning, Titus Jenkins of Schenectady was standing on his front porch when he exposed himself to the teen. After the girl passed Jenkins' house, he approached her from behind and tried to grab her. She fought him off and Jenkins ran away. The girl was not injured in the incident.

Fugitive child rapist accused of exposing himself at Target CLEVELAND -- A convicted child rapist, who may have had his eyes on another little girl, is the Fugitive of the Week. Clifford D. Jones of Cleveland is a sexually oriented offender. In 1985 he raped a 12-year-old girl and did 17 years in prison. Clifford Jones came to the store and immediately made security guards suspicious. They saw him going from aisle to aisle, as if he were following someone. "They thought he was a shoplifter at first," "They started monitoring him and after five minutes, they observed him exposing himself to a young girl inside the Target store."
Jones had his pants unbuckled and continued to follow the little girl as security cameras tried to follow him. A few days before the Bedford incident, police say Jones exposed himself to

Momah, 49, who had operated OB/GYN clinics in Burien and Federal Way, was charged a year ago with two counts of rape and two counts of indecent liberties with patients. Andrew Rowe, 34, a Muslim convert from west London, had instructions on firing a mortar and a secret terrorism code. The court heard an al-Qaeda tape was found at his former home, and that he had spent years travelling, "furthering the cause of Muslim fundamentalism". The judge said Rowe had been on the verge of an act of terror when he was arrested at the Channel Tunnel in 2003.

Judge: No Speedy Trial in Sniper Killings   ROCKVILLE, Md. — A judge has granted a delay for the trial of John Allen Muhammad in the six Maryland deaths linked to the 2002 Washington-area sniper (search) spree. Muhammad and his alleged 'sniper-boy' accomplice, John Lee Malvo, are charged with six counts of first-degree murder in the October 2002 deaths in Montgomery County.
Both already have been convicted of shootings in Virginia. Authorities there agreed to send the pair north for prosecution after Maryland promised to return them when their trials are over. Malvo was transferred to Maryland in May and his trial is set for Oct. 10. |

Jury recommends death for Manuel Bracamontes who raped and killed 9-year-old girl  SAN DIEGO – The man who kidnapped and murdered 9-year-old Laura Arroyo 14 years ago should be executed, a jury ruled.
Manuel Bracamontes didn't visibly react as the verdict was read . His family, seated behind him, gasped and cried while the slain girl's family remained silent. The special circumstances included kidnapping and committing lewd acts on a

The teenager, whose name was not released, will be arraigned on charges of kidnapping, assault and carjacking.
He is accused of abducting his ex-girlfriend, Megan Hardeman, 17 and her friend, Stacey Zink, 18, at knifepoint. She did not invite the "boy" to a homecoming dance, and he snapped. UK Police hunting for dark-skinned black man a distinctive gold tooth regarding the kidnap and torture of a 25-year-old man The victim was taken to an unknown location and beaten and tortured by three kidnappers for four and a half days, it is claimed. Police want to speak to Dwayne Callender in connection with the alleged abduction in Musgrove Road, New Cross.
Mr Callender, from Brockley, is a dark-skinned black man, 5ft 9in tall with an athletic build.
