    US Atty: NJ Couple Charged With ‘Unimaginable Cruelty To Children’
John Jackson and Carolyn Jackson A New Jersey Army major and his wife have been arrested on child endangerment charges stemming from a 17-count indictment. John and Carolyn Jackson were detained Tuesday. The couple is charged with one count of conspiracy to endanger the welfare of a child, 13 counts of endangering the welfare of a child and three counts of assault. The two are accused of denying their children food, water and medical care and physically abusing them, including breaking bones and force-feeding them hot sauce.

    Wife of slain Ft. Benning sergeant arrested in connection to husband’s murder
Gloria WilsonFORT BENNING, GA - They have arrested Gloria Wilson, wife of slain Ft. Benning sergeant Donald Wilson, and are searching for her boyfriend Travis Leonard in connection to her husband's murder. Gloria was arrested at the Sheriff's department. They believe the shooting death centers around a love triangle with a financial motivation to kill Donald. Donald Wilson's body was found with multiple gunshot wounds early Monday morning. At this time, detectives are combing the inside of the house with Gloria inside. Gloria arrived in an unmarked vehicle. A detective was driving while Gloria was on the passenger side. They rolled the vehicle into the garage and closed the door before she entered the home.

    Woman charged with kidnapping West Philadelphia school girl, raping her
Christina Regusters A Philadelphia woman was indicted this week, accused of abducting a 5-year-old girl from her school by posing as her mother, raping her and leaving her barely clothed and crying at a playground. Christina Regusters was charged Monday with aggravated assault, kidnapping, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and several other offenses in the January incident that had police searching door to door and parents clutching their children tightly. The little girl's ordeal began January 14 when a woman wearing a burqa -- a head-to-toe covered garment with a slit for the eyes -- went to a West Philadelphia school shortly after classes started and scribbled her name on a sign-in sheet, police said.

    Sierra McMillan arrested after infant drowns in bathtub
Sierra McMillanTampa, Florida -- The mother of a 7-month-old infant who drowned in a bathtub is in jail after police say her negligence led to her baby's death. Sierra McMillan put her 7-month-old in the bathtub with the water running. She then left the infant, with the water still running, to answer the door to a solicitor. While inside, the solicitor told police he heard the water running and the child crying. After a few minutes, the crying had stopped. The sheriff's office says an autopsy revealed the infant's cause of death was a drowning of an unattended child.

    Kidnapping, Sex Assault Suspect Due in Court
A 33-year-old Torrington man will appear in court on Monday, three days after being charged with abducting and sexual assaulting a 39-year-old woman. The victim told police that Randy Brumell abducted her in Torrington at gunpoint on March 10, drove her to a building and sexually assaulted her, police said. The victim said she knew Brumell. The handgun has been recovered and a resident of Lexington, Kentucky reported it stolen. Brumell is a convicted felon, who cannot legally possess a firearm in Connecticut.

    Tearful victim in rape trial takes stand
James WhiteDAYTON — The trial of a man charged with raping his girlfriend began today with the emotional testimony of the victim. James White, 51, is being tried on domestic violence, kidnapping and two counts of rape. The 35-year-old alleged victim broke down in tears when she entered the courtroom and needed an escort to assist her to the witness stand. The woman testified to the jury that the defendant was in a jealous rage when he woke her up and started to beat her. White was mad after seeing a text message from another man on the woman’s cell phone. Huffman alleges that White used a belt and his own work boots to beat the victim, like she’s “no better than a dog.”

    Man pleads guilty to rape and kidnapping of three women
Job Hughley A Detroit man charged with raping and shooting a woman while she was pushing her baby in a stroller has pleaded guilty to that attack and two others. Job Hughley gave pleas Monday in Circuit Court to three counts each of kidnapping and first-degree criminal sexual conduct, plus weapons charges. Sentence agreements in two of the cases call for 25 years to 50 years in prison, and 27 years to 50 years on the third case. An additional two years will be tacked on for each weapons charge. Each of the three women was raped in April 2012.

    Man arrested for x-rated taping at Walmart
Shawn Deon Ellis A Newport News man was arrested after allegedly committing an obscene sexual act in the food department at Walmart. Police say on April 10, 23-year-old Shawn Ellis used his cell phone to video tape up a woman's dress at Walmart. Police say that when the woman realized what he was doing, Ellis fled When the victim went to report the incident to management, Ellis was already in custody. Walmart management released Ellis during the investigation. Ellis was arrested Friday. He is charged with unlawful videotaping and masturbating in public.

    Teen arrested in 2011 rape of student
Andre Locus, a 19-year-old Gainesville man was arrested in connection with a 2011 sexual battery of a University of Florida student. Investigators said that they received forensic evidence that positively linked Locus to an April 2011 case where he forced his way into a home with a knife and raped a female student at knife point. Police said Locus then stole her personal electronics and fled the area. When Locus was arrested, he had property on him that was stolen from another recent occupied residential burglary. After his arrest, Locus took investigators to a stash of property that is likely stolen from numerous burglaries in the area, police said.

    Man accused of breaking 9-week-old son’s bones
Michael Nelson Bridges Jr. RALEIGH — Michael Nelson Bridges Jr., 26, was arrested Monday on charges that he broke several of his 9-week-old son’s bones one day in March. An arrest warrant accuses Bridges of breaking the boy’s left and right legs, his right clavicle and right forearm. An online arrest report says Raleigh police arrested Bridges on April 22. Knightdale police did not detail how the injuries were inflicted.

    Man admits lighting puppy on fire * Teen who admits to helping set puppy on fire does plea deal

"Zooka"Diondre BrownBUFFALO, N.Y. - A Buffalo man now admits he lit a Jack Russell Terrier puppy on fire last year, causing first, second and third degree burns to over 50 percent of the animal's body. Adell Ziegler, a.k.a. "Zooka", pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated cruelty to animals. Last October, the 19-year-old man and his nephew, 17-year-old Diondre Brown, lit the puppy on fire. But neighbors saw the crime and helped the animal, later named Phoenix. The District Attorney's Office says Ziegler boasted to family members about the crime, saying it had made him famous. "There's something particularly sadistic about this and I think it says that if you're willing to do something like this, torture a defenseless animal, what else are you willing to do?" said Erie County DA Frank Sedita. When he is sentenced in June, Ziegler faces a maximum sentence of two years in prison. Brown has yet to be sentenced for his guilty plea and will likely face less jail time. Austin Serial Rape Suspect Picture Released
Edgar Casas The Austin Police Department released a picture of an alleged serial rapist suspected in a series of sexual assaults. Edgar Casas, 25, is charged with attacked a woman on Gessner Drive, near I-35 and Hwy 183 earlier in April and the assault of a 13-year-old girl in an apartment complex laundry room in November. Police say the attacks started in August 2012 in North Central Austin. They say in most situations, the suspect approaches the victims in the parking lots or laundry rooms of apartment complexes.     Attempted rape suspect caught in Texas
Byron Lee PorterNORFOLK, Va. - A man wanted on several charges related to an attempted sexual assault in Norfolk has been apprehended in Texas. Byron Lee Porter, 24, was captured in Arlington, TX by US Marshals. Porter was wanted in connection to an assault on Sept. 11, 2012. Investigators discovered Porter fled to Texas and the case was turned over to the Marshals. Porter is facing charges of attempted rape, sodomy, penetration, sex battery, abduction, extort money or immoral purpose, felonious assault and two counts of failure to appear on a felony charge.

    Metairie man already in prison for sexual abuse indicted with raping young girl
 Albert BlakeA Metairie man already serving a 10-year prison sentence for sexually abusing a girl in New Orleans now faces rape charges in Jefferson Parish. Albert Blake, 39, was indicted by a Jefferson Parish grand jury Thursday with aggravated rape, sexual battery on a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile. Blake is accused of abusing the girl beginning when she was 10 years old in late 2006, and continuing through late 2009. In addition to the rape, he allegedly fondled her and masturbated in front of her.

    Alderman’s Community Alert On Facebook Helps Cops Nab Rapist
Antonio Lamont NettlesA community alert posted on an alderman’s Facebook page helped police capture a Forest Park man who allegedly sexually assaulted one woman on the Northwest Side and beat another. Antonio Lamont Nettles, 41, of the 7500 block of Harvard Street in Forest Park, was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, one count of aggravated robbery, one count of kidnapping by force or threat and one count of attempted kidnapping, police said. Nettles is accused of accused of sexually assaulting one woman and beating another in two Northwest Side attacks on April 13.

    Massage therapy student charged with inappropriately touching client in Brentwood
Jeffrey MasseyA male massage therapy student is accused of inappropriately touching one of his clients at a Brentwood college. St. Louis County prosecutors charged Jeffrey Massey 20, on April 18 with misdemeanor sexual misconduct. Investigators say the incident allegedly happened on September 6, 2012 at Missouri College in Brentwood where Jeffrey was a student. The victim claims she came to the school for a massage when Massey was assigned to her. The victim told police Massey put his hands under her underwear and touched her inappropriately without her consent.

    Teens Charged in Beating Death of Columbia Man
Brittany Irby (left), Elijah Wilson (center) and Ronald Brown (right)Greenville police have charged six teens in connection with an April 20 assault that ultimately led to a Columbia man's death. The victim, De'Bron Harrison, 20, had been on life support since the assault, but died from his injury's Friday at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Greenville Police have released the names of three of the teens charged as adults: Ronald Earl Brown, 18, is charged with assault and battery, assault and battery by mob, first degree, and kidnapping. Elijah Fernandeze Wilson, 18, is charged with assault and battery by mob, first degree, and kidnapping. Brittany Cearea Irby, 19, is charged with assault and battery by mob, first degree, and kidnapping.

 

 

 


    2 men arrested in rape of Indianapolis woman in Broad Ripple in December 2012
Dewayne Lane and Torrence BrownINDIANAPOLIS - Nearly four months after police said a woman was raped in Broad Ripple, two men have been arrested in the crime. Dewayne Lane, 22, and Torrence Brown, 26, face charged of rape, criminal deviate conduct, criminal confinement and battery in the Dec. 29 attack. The night of the rape, the woman went to Brothers Bar & Grill with friends to watch a Butler basketball game. Afterward, the group went to Broad Ripple Tavern and Chumley's, before getting separated near Kilroy's, police said. The woman was walking eastbound on Broad Ripple Avenue, trying to reach a friend's house, when police said Lane and Brown picked her up and raped her. The woman suffered a brain injury, facial fractures, a broken nose and heavy bruising in the attack, police said.

    Carmel man charged in rape of Ball State student
Aaron Jeffery King IIA 23-year-old Carmel man was arrested Thursday in connection with the rape of a Ball State student. Aaron Jeffery King II was preliminarily charged with rape, criminal confinement, criminal deviant conduct and strangulation. Muncie police said the alleged attack occurred on Indianapolis’ northwest side around 1 p.m. Wednesday. Sgt. Mike Engle confirmed the female victim was hospitalized. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time. King is a former Ball State student and graduated from Carmel High School in 2008.

    St. Louis man gets 40 years for abduction and attempted rape of girl, 15
Charles SmithA St. Louis man was sentenced Thursday to 40 years in prison for abducting and trying to rape a 15-year-old while she walked to her school bus stop. Charles Smith, 28, pleaded guilty to six felony counts including attempted rape and kidnapping for the incident, in which the girl ultimately fought him off and escaped. Judge Jack Garvey ordered Smith serve a life sentence. Prosecutors said the girl was walking to her bus stop when Smith grabbed her from behind, pressed a boxcutter against her back, and pushed her into his vehicle around 6 a.m. He then drove several blocks away and demanded money. Smith started removing the girl's clothes and touched her inappropriately. She fought him off, suffering scratches and bruises and losing a chunk of her hair. She was forced to run for help half-clothed. The girl flagged down a passing vehicle, which took her home, and police were called.

    Philly Teacher Sumo Dukulah from Liberia Charged With Raping Young Family Member
Sumo DukulahA Philadelphia elementary school teacher has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a young family member over the course of several years. Police say 39-year-old Sumo Dukulah, a 7th and 8th grade teacher at the Leslie P. Hill Elementary School located at 3133 Ridge Avenue in Strawberry Mansion, repeatedly raped the child over the course of eight years. Investigators say the assaults began when the child was 8 years old and continued until the child was 16. He attended some college and high school in Liberia.

    NJ Corrections Officer Facing Charges For Sex With Prostitutes Arrested Again For 2011 Rape

StevensA New Jersey corrections officer who was arrested for allegedly stating he was a police officer in an attempt to coerce prostitutes into having sex with him for free (see previous story) is now facing an additional charge, thanks to new DNA evidence. Juan R. Stevens, a 50-year-old senior corrections officer assigned to the Department of Correction’s Central Reception and Assignment Facility in Trenton, was arrested on March 21, 2013 on charges of second-degree sexual assault and third-degree criminal restraint for allegedly coercing at least four prostitutes into engaging in sexual acts with him for free.

Jamie FletcherJamie Fletcher, 25, of Chew Avenue in Philadelphia, is charged with theft, receiving stolen property, and related offenses. Abington police say she sifted through greeting cards being sent through the mail, in some cases opening the envelopes and stealing the enclosed cash or gift card. Police say she would then reseal the envelopes and put them back in the stream for delivery.

   

UK: Three dark-skinned men with foreign names (2 from Somalia) kidnaped and sex-slaved 13-year-old girl
Hamza Ali, Suran Uddin and Mohammed SheikhThree men from east London who abducted a 13-year-old girl from the streets of the city and forced her to become their sex slave have been jailed. The girl, described as being from a troubled family, was driven to a house in Ipswich and sexually abused over four days, Norwich Crown Court heard. Mohammed Sheikh, 32, Hamza Ali, 39, and Suran Uddin, 26, were convicted of sex offences and trafficking. Uddin was jailed for 15 years, Sheikh for eight years and Ali for five years.     Man accused of trying to kill victim before Tampa rape trial - (Drudge link)
Demetreius M. Morris,TAMPA — A man accused of raping a 70-year-old woman in a church sanctuary now faces a charge that he tried to hire a hit man to kill her and her daughter before the trial. Demetreius M. Morris, 27, was already in jail when he sent notes earlier this month to someone saying he wanted to put out a hit on the women before he faced a May 8 court date. Morris was arrested by Tampa police in October after a DNA sample linked him to a rape earlier that month. A 70-year-old woman had been attacked as she gave a man a tour of the sanctuary of Living Word Fellowship. A DNA sample from Morris was already held in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database because he had been arrested before, in 2002, and charged with a lewd and lascivious act on a child.

    Sentencing set for a man convicted of brutal rape
Leroy Harris JrA man who has been convicted of a brutal rape that happened in 2008 is set to be sentenced June 19. Leroy Harris Jr., 64, was convicted of first-degree rape April 17. A jury took about 45 minutes to convict him. Harris was accused going to a Daphne woman's home, knocking on her door, punching her in the face and dragging her out of her outside. The victim was taken to the wooded edge of her home's yard and was raped and beaten.

Barron Dino JonesGa. -- Police arrested Barron Dino Jones for a rape they say he committed in March. Police responded on a sexual assault call. Police found the victim, and she told them she was attacked by a man who she knew. The victim told police a black male named "Brandon" had asked her to come to a new home he had recently purchased. Although the victim knew "Brandon," several months had passed since the two had been in touch. When the victim arrived to the house to meet "Brandon," he then attacked the victim once they were both inside, choked her and tied her to a mattress by her wrist and ankles. Next, the victim said he beat and raped her, then left the home while she was still tied up.

    Man Arrested for Exposing Himself to Woman at Key West Beach
 Elijah SlocumbA man was arrested after a woman called police to say he was exposing himself and masturbating in Smathers Beach. The woman told police that Elijah Slocumb,42, was allegedly “doing it so hard that his whole body was shaking,” the report said. The woman, who visits the beach daily, told police he was siting several feet away while she read a book. But later noticed Slocumb, from Key West, was moving closer and masturbating, the report said.

Michael Cain Wilson was arrested Tuesday, but deputies said the case goes back to 1991. Investigators said Wilson sexually abused a child at multiple locations in Guilford County from 1991 through 2003. Their investigation of these claims connects Wilson to a newborn abandoned in a stairwell November 12, 1999 on McKnight Mill Road.

Charles Eric Devenport,HOUSTON - A man suspected of raping and threatening to kill women has been arrested and charged. Charles Eric Devenport, 25, has been charged with aggravated sexual assault. Harris County sheriff's deputies said Devenport beat and raped seven women who worked for escort services.

    Man raped teen girl, threatened to kill her and her family
Maurice MatthewsA 32-year-old man walked into a friend's teenaged daughter's bedroom early one morning last week and raped the girl, threatening to kill her and her family if she told anyone what he had done to her, the New Orleans Police Department alleges. Investigators eventually booked suspect Maurice Matthews with one count of aggravated rape, punishable by mandatory life imprisonment upon conviction. According to police, Matthews went into a 16-year-old girl's room in her St. Roch neighborhood home about 2:30 a.m. Friday and implied to her that he had a weapon. He then allegedly forced oral, vaginal and anal sex on the girl, and he said he would murder her, her mother and her two younger brothers if she reported the rape to authorities.

Nineteen year-old Blythe Grupe was in class in the Communications North building on campus when she got up to use the restroom. Moments later, she was attacked. Jevon Mallory, an eighteen-year-old St. Louis Community College-Meramec student, has been charged in the violent and random attack on a fellow student inside a campus bathroom. The nineteen-year-old victim is now telling her story of a trip to the restroom last week that turned into a horrible nightmare. "He was trying to kill me," she said in one interview. "I just started screaming. I was on the floor asking him to please stop."

    Waukesha police search for Eddie Callaway, wanted for homicide
Eddie CallawayWaukesha police are seeking 26-year-old Eddie Callaway in connection with the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Shanel Negron. Callaway is believed to be armed and dangerous and may be in the Milwaukee area. Waukesha police were called to a home near N. Moreland Boulevard and Summit Ave. around 7:15 p.m. on Monday, April 22nd. Witnesses said they saw Negron arguing with Callaway. At one point, police say Callaway shot Negron in the back of the head and took off.

    Man Sentenced For Kidnapping, Rape Of 64-Year-Old Former Westerville Co-Worker
Rickey Allen DyeCOLUMBUS, Ohio - A judge has sentenced a man to 28 years in jail for abducting, kidnapping, and raping a 64-year-old former co-worker last February. Rickey Allen Dye, 51, was convicted of rape, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, abduction and two counts of kidnapping. Dye blamed the woman for getting him fired from the homeless shelter where they both worked. The victim, now 65, asked the judge to impose the maximum sentence. Dye could have been put behind bars for 55 years.

    Suspected northside serial rapist behind bars; may have had female accomplice
Charles Devenport Texas – Harris County deputies announced Wednesday an alleged serial rapist was behind bars following a tip sent in to authorities. Charles Devenport, 25, is charged with sexual assault and is in jail on $250,000 bond. Officials said they believe he is connected to several rapes, but for now he’s only being charged in one. All of the attacks occurred at or near an apartment complex on Cypress Station Drive on the county’s north side. The sheriff’s office said DNA evidence connected Devenport to five victims, and officials warned he may have had a female accomplice who is not yet in custody.

    Mother of St. Louis County rapist charged with destroying evidence

St. Louis County prosecutors charged Joyce Askew-Carter, 47, with tampering with physical evidence. Her bail was set at $5,000. Her son, Dary McCoy, 26, was sentenced in March to 80 years in prison for raping and robbing an elderly woman after posing as a repairman at her north St. Louis County town home complex. At his jury trial last month, prosecutors said McCoy knocked on the woman's door after 10 p.m. on June 10, 2011, saying he was there to fix her air conditioner.

    UK: Footballer, 18, 'joined another man to rape drunk woman at hotel after night out while filming attack on mobile phone'
Simon LenighanA Leeds United youth team player raped a drunk woman in a hotel after a night out and filmed the attack on a mobile phone, a court heard. Simon Lenighan, 18, is alleged to have carried out the sex attack on the woman with another man, Nathan Campbell, 23, in the Etap Hotel in Leeds. Leeds Crown Court heard the woman was woken by a chambermaid the next morning and had no idea where she was how she got there. The court heard that Lenighan and Campbell had left and her mobile phone and money were missing. Police were contacted and video footage was found on Campbell's mobile phone, the court was told. - (UK)

    Spontaneous memorial grows at site of 5 deadly shootings
Dennis ClarkFEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Candles are burning at the site of the mass slaying at a Federal Way apartment complex that took the lives of four victims and the gunman. Police said the shooting spree began when the suspect, who sources said is 28-year-old Dennis Clark, shot his girlfriend to death in their apartment, killed two men just outside, and then blasted his way into the apartment of a man who was trying to call 911, executing him. Responding officers killed Clark in the nearby parking lot. Records show Clark has had brushes with the law before. The uncle of the woman who died, Justine Baez, told me their family had seen Clark act violently in the past and thinks the slayings could have been prevented.

Bartholomew Granger faces life in prison without parole or the death penalty if he's convicted in the March 2012 slaying of Minnie Ray Sebolt outside the Jefferson County Courthouse in Beaumont. The trial was moved to Galveston so jurors wouldn't have to pass the crime scene each day. Three others were wounded in the rampage. Authorities say Granger hoped to retaliate against his daughter for testifying against him in a sexual misconduct trial. - (Black-on-white)

Willie Barney, 19, along with his alleged accomplices Dedrick Brown, 20, and Travares Santiago, 20, all face charges including attempted murder with a firearm and armed robbery with a firearm. Prosecutors say the trio approached Miami-Dade Police Officer Herman Joseph on September 22, 2012 when Officer Joseph was volunteering with his father at a church in Liberty City. Police say the group demanded Joseph’s jewelry and then shot him. Police say it was Barney who pulled the trigger.

    Alleged serial rapist arrested after Omaha police get DNA results
Anthony G. Vaughn Almost two years ago, Anthony G. Vaughn sat before a judge in a Douglas County courtroom — having pleaded guilty to burglarizing the home of his son's Bible study teacher. He blamed the break-in on “wet” — marijuana laced with embalming fluid. He cast the crime as “completely out of my character.” Before the judge put him on probation for three years, Vaughn talked about how he wanted to “continue to work and be a good member of society.” Now, a DNA sample taken from Vaughn — as a consequence of that burglary conviction — has painted the 41-year-old Omaha man as something far more sinister: an alleged serial rapist. Using his DNA sample, Omaha police have linked Vaughn to the rapes of five Omaha women dating back to 1999.

    Man arrested in connection to 20-year-old rape case
Mark Franklin Fla. —A Marion County man has been arrested, accused of sexual battery that began more than 20 years ago. The victim said she told authorities because she feared 36-year-old Mark Franklin might harm other children. Investigators said the victim told them she was molested from the time she was 2 or 3 years old in 1990 or 1991 until she was in seventh grade in 2002. Franklin was called in for interviews, and based on those interviews and evidence gathered from witnesses, he was arrested on two counts of sexual battery.

    Homeless man accused of raping 82-year-old Orlando woman
 Dominic Reed A homeless man is accused of attacking and robbing an elderly woman inside her apartment. Orlando police said they have their suspect in custody. Dominic Reed, 45, is accused of sexually attacking and robbing an 82-year-old woman with a knife after he broke into her Salvation Army Towers apartment. "At this point, it appears he may have used trickery or some type of lies to make his way into the building. And once inside the building, he was able to access her apartment." Police said the victim was injured and is in stable condition at an Orlando hospital. Reed was identified through evidence, according to police. He is charged with sexual battery, home invasion robbery, armed kidnapping and aggravated battery on a person over 65 years old with a deadly weapon.

    Man Arrested for Aggravated Rape after a Month on the Run
(Memphis) – It’s been several weeks since Marilyn Jenkins laid eyes on the man who lives two doors down from her, 29-year-old Eldridge Galloway Memphis Police say Eldridge Galloway was arrested late Friday night. He has been on the run since being accused of a violently raping an 18-year-old girl last month. The attack started when the young woman was walking by herself in the area near S. Willet Street and Walker Avenue. Galloway allegedly put his victim in a choke hold until she passed out.

    Man found sleeping in stranger’s bed
Isaac J. DouglasA Toledo man was charged with burglary Sunday after he was found sleeping in a stranger's home. Isaac J. Douglas, 22, was charged with the fourth-degree felony after a person in the first block of West Market Street reported at 2:48 a.m. Sunday a man was sleeping in a bed, according to Tiffin Police Department. He was being held without bond in Seneca County Jail Sunday. Officer Joe O'Connor of Tiffin Police Department said a woman who lives at the residence noticed a man sleeping in her daughter's bed while her daughter was asleep on a couch. She confronted the man and knocked him off the bed and onto the floor, he said.

Darrell Broxton Peter BelmontKANSAS CITY, Kan. —Prosecutors have filed first-degree murder charges in the death of a prominent Kansas City dog breeder. The Wyandotte County Sheriff's Office said Darrell Broxton was charged in connection with the slaying of Peter Belmont. Belmont, 69, was found beaten to death in the bedroom of his home in December. He was well known on the international dog show circuit as a breeder of Afghan hounds. He had also been a longtime employee of the Wyandotte County Public Schools. - (Black-on-white)

    Police have man in custody after attacking 82-year-old woman
Dominic Alonze ReedORLANDO, Fla. - Police say a 45-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly forced his way into an 82-year-old woman's apartment, threatened her and cut off her clothes. Dominic Alonze Reed, 45, then forcefully raped the woman, took her money and fled the scene, said police. Officers were able to locate Reed on Sunday in the downtown area and arrest him without incident. He was wearing the same clothing from the time of the crime.

    Police make arrest in sexual assault of homeless woman
Jerry GallionA sexual assault Friday in downtown Jacksonville marked the fourth time in three months that homeless women have been sexually assaulted in a five-block radius. Police have arrested a suspect in at least one of the cases. Assistant Chief Chris Butler said a woman who survived a Feb. 8 assault at 400 E. Union St. identified Jerry Gallion, 56, Friday. He turned himself in once he realized he was wanted, police said. The women assaulted ranged from 39 to 68, Butler said. Two happened in the early morning and two at night. “We do not know at this time if it’s going to be the same suspect or not, but there are some similarities to these cases,” he said.

    Detroit police search for (black male) person of interest in murder of young woman at Corktown Inn
suspectDetroit police are asking for the public's help to find a person of interest in the murder of a woman. It happened April 19 at around 10:00 am at the Corktown Inn. That's located in the 1300 block of Trumbull. Police say a 21-year-old woman was found dead in a room. She had been shot several times. Police are looking for a man who asked for the victim's room before her body was found. The man was later seen running from the hotel.     Man arrested for fatal Denny's shooting
Leonard BondINDIANAPOLIS - A man died early Saturday morning after a shooting at a Denny's. The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Mario Wilson. Wilson was a retired 22-year veteran of the United States Army. Police responded to the Denny's to the report of a person shot. Officers say Wilson was inside of the restaurant with friends when a verbal disagreement began with the suspect, 26-year-old Leonard Bond. Bond left the restaurant and attempted to get Wilson to come outside by banging on the window where Wilson was sitting. Bond began walking back into the Denny's. Wilson met him at the front door, where he was shot by Bond,

    Woman, 80, charged in death of husband
Annie B. Oliver KANSAS CITY, Mo. —Jackson County prosecutors charged an 80-year-old in the slaying of her husband. Annie B. Oliver was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Police said they were called to a home by the woman's granddaughter. Officers said they found Ronald Oliver, 75, dead in a bedroom from apparent blunt-force trauma to the head. According to court documents, Annie Oliver told officers that she had gotten tired of Ronald taking her clothes and his verbal abuse, and hit him with a bat.

    Kinston man charged with murdering brother
Benjamin ThomasLaGRANGE, N.C. -- A man is charged with murdering his brother after the two got into an argument. Officials said while driving down the road, 28-year-old Richard Thomas and 34-year-old Benjamin Thomas got into an argument. According to an eyewitness, the vehicle stopped a home where the argument continued, and Benjamin Thomas shot Richard Thomas. Richard then got out of the car, walked a few steps and collapsed. Benjamin left walking hile the witness contacted authorities. Deputies responded to the home and they found Richard deceased in the yard. Officials found Benjamin walking down the road. The gun was later recovered on the side of a ditch. Benjamin Thomas was charged with one count of Murder.

    Rabbi admits to Pedophilia in Australia
David KramerDavid Kramer, once stood before a classroom full of students at the Jewish orthodox Yeshiva College in St Kilda, a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria. Now, appearing before a courtroom at the Melbourne Magistrates Court, the 52 year-old Rabbi pleaded guilty to six charges of indecent assault for the sexual abuse of students. The court heard that Kramer taught at the college in the nineties and fled to the United States after rumours surfaced that he was sexually assaulting students. While in the States, Kramer was charged with assaulting a 12 year-old boy and sentenced to seven years imprisonment. He was extradited last year to face Australian charges.
