• Feds Say 2 Violate Arms Export Control Act - Ko-Suen "Bill" Moo accused of being covert Chinese agent
  MIAMI -- A Taiwanese man and a Frenchman were charged Thursday with attempting to buy and export to China cruise missiles, an F-16 fighter engine and other military parts and weaponry. Ko-Suen "Bill" Moo, of Taipei, was also accused in the indictment of being a covert Chinese agent and attempting to pay a $500,000 bribe to gain release from U.S. custody. He has been held since November and has pleaded not guilty to the illegal export charges.

Whitmore, 47, was convicted Nov. 30 of 51 felony charges including child molestation and child pornography with special allegations that included bondage and sodomy.   NEW YORK -- A bookstore owner and a jazz musician agreed soon after the Sept. 11 attacks to try to help terrorists in Afghanistan buy weapons and communications equipment to fight American soldiers, the government charged Wednesday. Assistant U.S. Attorney Victor Hou said Abdulrahman Farhane, 51, and the musician, Tarik Shah, 42, spoke with an FBI informant about the plot in Farhane's bookstore in December 2001 "while the ruins of 9/11 were still smoldering."

Three "Hispanics" Convicted in Immigrants' Deaths
HOUSTON (AP) -- Three people accused of participating in the nation's deadliest human smuggling attempt escaped possible life sentences after being convicted of conspiracy to harbor and transport illegal immigrants. Prosecutors said Victor Sanchez Rodriguez, 58, his wife, Emma Sapata Rodriguez, 59, and her half-sister, Rosa Sarrata Gonzalez, hid the immigrants in their home and moved them to other houses before they were loaded into an airtight tractor-trailer for transport from Texas to Houston in 2003. - (Invasion!)

• 22 Injured in Latest LA County Jail Black and Mexican Race Riot
  LOS ANGELES -- Days after deadly riots erupted at a county jail, a series of racially motivated riots swept through the jail again, leaving 22 inmates injured, authorities said. A fight involving about 300 inmates broke out Wednesday at the medium security North Facility of Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic, about 40 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, said sheriff's Sgt. Don Manumaleuna. Three inmates were injured. That fight followed four melees involving more than 450 black and Hispanic inmates at the center's east facility, injuring 19 inmates.
  Four inmates were transported to hospitals. Fifteen more were treated at the facility for minor injuries. No sheriff's deputies were hurt. The fighting began after a group of inmates housed in a group dorm separated along racial lines.
