Trillville Rapper Don P. Arrested For Rape of a 16 year-old girl Don P., member of the Atlanta rap group Trillville, was arrested for the rape of a 16 year-old girl. The incident allegedly occurred at a party in the Woodcrest Walk Apartment complex in Lithonia, GA, a suburb of Atlanta, where Donnell Prince (Don P) attended a party with numerous other individuals.
The 23 year-old rapper and a fellow man have been accused of leading a 16 year-old girl into a bedroom where the rape took place. The assaulted female and a friend apparently left the residence immediately following the encounter and called the local authorities. Still, mostly everyone had left before the police arrived. - (crime) |
Black adulterous Atlanta Ex-Mayor carried cash when cruising with his consort on junkets abroad  ATLANTA -- A Chicago TV newswoman testified Wednesday that former Atlanta Mayor Bill Campbell always carried plenty of cash while the two enjoyed a romantic relationship.
Prosecutors at the federal corruption trial allege that Marion Brooks, 39, went on frequent trips with the mayor, including a Paris getaway. The prosecution wants to convince the jury that Campbell, 52, paid for the rendezvous with bribe money from city contractors. Brooks testified that a four-year affair with Campbell beginning in 1996 also included trips to San Francisco, Mexico and Jamaica. While she worked in Atlanta she said the two met "probably a couple of times a week."
Brooks did not testify to witnessing bribes. She said Campbell bought her gifts, including bracelets, a necklace, and a $2,400 dress and paintings in Paris. Campbell is accused of accepting more than $160,000 in illegal campaign contributions, cash, junkets and home improvements in exchange for city contracts. |
Black Ex-D.C. Mayor Barry's Sentencing Delayed WASHINGTON -- Sentencing for former Mayor Marion Barry in connection with tax problems was delayed Wednesday after a judge said the defense failed to file several documents required under a plea deal.
Barry, 69, faces anything from probation to as much as 18 months in prison for willful failure to file federal and city tax returns for 2000. As part of his October plea agreement, Barry acknowledged not filing federal or District of Columbia taxes from 1999 -- when he left the mayor's office a final time -- through 2004. During that period, court records indicate he earned at least $534,000 as a contract consultant for brokerage firms where he offered municipal bond investment advice. |

Nichols May Be Tried in Atlanta Courthouse - his lawyers play the 'race card'  ATLANTA -- Lawyers for a man accused of killing four people in a shooting spree that started at a downtown courthouse asked a judge Tuesday to throw out the case because of the method used to select the grand jury that indicted the gunman.
Defense attorneys for Brian Nichols argued that Fulton County's reliance on a voter registration list, rather than lists that contain more current addresses, caused the panel that charged Nichols to be underrepresented by blacks and other minorities. Nichols is black. - (crime) |

American Indians Seek New Nation RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Indians from Brazil and four other South American countries called for the "resurrection" of an Indian nation on Tuesday, the 250th anniversary of the killing of a tribal chief by European soldiers. Thousands of Indians belonging to what they call the "Guarani nation" walked three hours from Sao Gabriel do Sul, 900 miles south of Rio de Janeiro, to the site where chief Sepe Tiaraju was killed in 1756 at the hands of Portuguese and Spanish soldiers. - (Abo) |

Nigerian migrant gynecologist sentenced to 20 years for sex crimes against patients  Dr. Charles Momah, a South King County gynecologist convicted in November of sexual crimes against four patients, was sentenced today to 20 years in prison.
King County Superior Court Judge Michael Trickey, after hearing impassioned statements from Momah's family and a close friend, as well as statements from two victims, said he was imposing a long sentence because Momah was a physician who took advantage of his patients.
Momah, 49, praticed in Burien and Federal Way until 2003 when his medical license was suspended. He was convicted of one count of second-degree rape, one count of third-degree rape and two counts of indecent liberties.
Momah still faces four counts of health-care fraud, set for trial in April. He has until 30 days after that trial is concluded to file an appeal on the sexual crimes convictions.

Man Abducted, Assaulted 11-Year-Old Girl - Police Believe Black Rape Suspect Driving White Van Fla. -- Police are hoping that a sketch and surveillance video will lead them to the man who abducted and raped an 11-year-old girl. Police said the man snatched the 11-year-old from the gas station on Saturday, drove her to a park near Opa-locka airport and sexually assaulted her. "He forced the victim to perform a sexual act. The victim was able to escape the van and was helped by a witness, a Good Samaritan, who alerted police," Amaya said. Police are looking for a black man who is 20 to 30 years old, about 6 feet tall with a chubby build and a light complexion. The man has a mustache and was last seen wearing a black cap. "You should be very afraid of a person like this," Amaya said. "This is a violent, horrid crime that was played out on a child and I urge the community to have their eyes and ears open and watch over your children." - (Newsroom) - (crime) |

HOUSTON (AP) -- Three people accused of participating in the nation's deadliest human smuggling attempt escaped possible life sentences after being convicted of conspiracy to harbor and transport illegal immigrants. Prosecutors said Victor Sanchez Rodriguez, 58, his wife, Emma Sapata Rodriguez, 59, and her half-sister, Rosa Sarrata Gonzalez, hid the immigrants in their home and moved them to other houses before they were loaded into an airtight tractor-trailer for transport from Texas to Houston in 2003. 
Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri was found guilty of 11 U.K. criminal charges against him, including encouraging his audiences to murder Jews and other non-Muslims, inciting racial hatred and possessing a document likely to be useful to terrorists. 
State officials say there wasn't enough evidence to build a case against the men. Initially, there were 14 men arrested in connection to the rape.According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, all three men are illegal immigrants. They and eight other illegal immigrants initally suspected in the alleged rape either have been or will be deported.
Renee Perez Garcia, Mario Lopez Luis and Alvaredo Perez Luis still face charges in connection with the alleged rape.
The woman who says the men raped her has moved out of the area.
