Police Work Barricade Situation In Southeast D.C. - Policeman Shot Sunday Is Recovering  A warrant charging kidnapping while armed was issued for Derrick Arthur. He is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 165 pounds, with a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue trousers.
Officials said Arthur should be considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information about him should call police at (202) 727-9099. Officers confronted the kidnapping suspect Sunday about noon at the Days Inn near the National Arboretum.
Officers said Arthur ran to his car and tried to run over an officer, which prompted police to open fire. Detective Tomas Rosenborg, received a gunshot wound to the lower torso. - (guru2000) - (crime) |
Sudanese migrant refugee uncle charged in 6-year-old nephew's stabbing death The teenaged uncle of a 6-year-old boy who was found dead inside his home Sunday morning has been charged with killing the child, police said.
Investigators said Clarkston police officers saw a man walking near the Clarkston police station around 2:30 a.m. The officers said they stopped the man because he was "behaving strangely".
Investigators said the man then began telling the Clarkston patrol officers that he had did something horrible at his home.
The officers drove to the man's home broke down the door to the apartment and found the boy dead in his bedroom.
The boy, later identified as 6-year-old Bitow Mach Run David, had been stabbed to death, investigators said.
Relatives said Bitow and his father had moved from Sudan and that the father had just recently agreed to let the uncle move into the home. Relatives said the boy's mother is still in Africa.
Police suspect Bitow's uncle killed the boy as he slept. Racial Violence Continues in Sydney * Second night of riots hits Sydney * Rioters Smash Sydney Stores, Cars  Violence triggered by race tensions has hit Sydney for a second night, with youths damaging cars and shops. Australian Prime Minister John Howard condemned the weekend's attacks by thousands of young white men on people of Arabic and Mediterranean background.
The clashes follow an assault on two lifeguards last week, reportedly by youths of Middle Eastern origin. Gunshots were heard near Cronulla beach, but police could not confirm the
report. One government lawmaker, Bruce Baird, said anti-Muslim resentment that has risen since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the United States and the 2002 Bali bombings in Indonesia that killed 88 Australians also played a role. Local residents say there have been frequent minor racially charged confrontations on Cronulla beach, but never anything close to the scale of Sunday's unrest. DNA Links Convicted Rapist Leroy to 1981 Rape Murder of 88-Year-Old Deaf and Blind Woman Sacramento County Sheriff's detectives have arrested a convicted rapist in the 24-year-old rape and murder of an elderly Sacramento woman following newly-discovered DNA evidence.
Leroy Veal, 55, was arrested in connection with the 1981 killing of 88-year-old Pauline Colombatto. Homicide investigators said Veal forced his way into the blind and deaf woman's home on before sexually assaulting and beating Colombatto to death on May 2, 1981. - (crime) - (Norcal) |
Black 13 Year Old Boy Arrested For Central West End Rape He robbed, then raped a 21 year old Saint Louis University student. It happened
as the victim was bringing groceries into her apartment.
The juvenile is charged with several felonies including forcible rape and sodomy. Police believe the juvenile also robbed a local couple, days after the Central West End attack. Because he is charged as a juvenile and not an adult, the suspect's name is not being released. - (crime) |
