High ranking Catholic priest arrested on homosexual assault charges  PHOENIX - The former vicar general of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix was arrested Monday on charges he fondled boys and young men and asked them prying questions about their sex lives that he pretended were part of confession. Monsignor Dale Fushek, 53, becomes one of the highest-ranking priests to be charged in the sex scandal that has engulfed the church. The vicar general is the highest-ranking administrator of a diocese next to the bishop. Fushek was charged with three counts of assault, five of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and two of indecent exposure. All are misdemeanors, punishable by no more than three years and nine months in all. - (-88-) |
Priest sentenced to 20 years for sodomizing a young boy in the rectory of the Old Cathedral  The Rev. Thomas Graham was sentenced to 20 years in prison this morning for sodomizing a young boy in the rectory of the Old Cathedral in St. Louis in the late 1970s.
But Graham is not likely to spend any time behind bars soon.

According to St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne, the Rev. Dean Robins, 57, admitted to conducting crime against nature. He and Marbin Tursios, 35, were found in a single stall at the St. Rose Travel Center "engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct." Both men were arrested and booked with bonds set at $5,000 each. Robins, who has served at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Kenner since 1998, was released Monday after posting $530. |

Santos Teixeira, a minister accused of sexually abusing two teenage parishioners fell 400 feet to his death at Sequoia National Park, officials said. Teixeira, the pastor of Iglesia Del Nazareno (Church of the Nazarene) in Porterville, was ordered in August to stand trial on charges of rape and sexual assault. The allegations involve two teenage sisters who attended his church. Prosecutors said Teixeira befriended the girls and their mother shortly after the family moved to the area from Mexico. |

Christopher Yates, 30, was knocked to the ground and his head kicked like a football last November, the Old Bailey was told. He was set upon by the group who had been drinking in the car park of the University of East London in Barking. Sajid Zulfiqar, 25, Zahid Bashir, 23, and Imran Maqsood, 21, of Ilford, east London, will be sentenced on Thursday.

UK: White banker 'killed by black robbers obsessed with rich'  A wealthy banker was stabbed to death and his wife left with near-fatal knife wounds after two robbers, one of them obsessed by rich people and diamonds, tricked their way into their home with a bogus postal delivery, the Old Bailey heard yesterday. John Monckton, 49, a "proud and devoted" family man, died trying to protect his wife, Homeyra, and their nine-year-old daughter, Isobel, when the robbers struck at their Chelsea home.
Mrs Monckton was stabbed twice in the back but her life was saved by emergency medical treatment. Her husband died from multiple knife wounds.

| An elderly British couple have been beaten to death in a frenzied attack on their farm in South Africa Harold and Sylvia Hart were assaulted with a golf club and other weapons at Swing Gate farm, 20 miles west of Johannesburg. Mr Hart, 88, and his wife, 84, were attacked on Friday afternoon in a fertile area of rolling hills where they had lived since 1953. Their daughter, Lesley Hay, 53, said that Mr Hart was lured outside the homestead's electrified security fence. Here, an unknown number of thugs forced a bag over his head and attacked him with a "blunt instrument". Both of Mr Hart's arms were broken. He was killed with repeated blows to the head and chest. | Canada: Sixteen Black Teens accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old White Toronto girl at Catholic school released on bail TORONTO (CP) - Frustration and anger boiled over outside a city courtroom Tuesday among parents and friends of 16 teens charged in the alleged sexual assault and harassment of a 16-year-old girl that spanned a year-a-half. The highly charged atmosphere included suggestions by some that race is a factor in the case. All 16 of the accused are black and the alleged victim is white. | Police Release Composite Sketches Of African-American Rape Suspects Police have released composite sketches of two men wanted for a violent rape last week. The victim says the two men attacked her at knifepoint, then sexually assaulted her last Tuesday along Jefferson Street in an area behind Pilgrim Baptist Church. The woman says the men came from behind her, took off her clothes and then raped her. Once the assault ended, the men ran away, taking the victim's shoes and her underwear. Black woman accused of attempted murder of a 13-year-old White girl on school bus does not show up for court   A warrant was issued for the arrest of a Central Florida mom caught on tape beating a student on a school bus when she did not show up for court Monday. Rita Gooden, 39, was originally charged with felony attempted murder last year after investigators said she attacked and choked a 13-year-old girl on a school bus earlier this year.
Police said Rita Gooden entered a bus out of Oak Park Middle School in March after her 12-year-old daughter and another girl got into a fight with another student.

Black Arrested After Allegedly Stabbing Co-Worker at McDonald’s  Conn. -- A 19-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed in the neck by a co-worker at the McDonald’s next to the Brass Mill mall in Waterbury.
Waterbury police said Willie Bryant, jr., a convicted felon, allegedly stabbed a co-worker twice in the neck with a penknife.
The victim and Bryant were working side by side in the back part of restaurant when the attack occurred, according to police. Co-workers physically restrained Bryant.
Police said Bryant has prior convictions for assault, larceny and assault on a police officer. They also said he has four prior misdemeanor convictions as well. - (guru2000) - (crime) |
Burger King slashing by black follows McDonald's stabbing First, a McDonald's employee in Waterbury was accused of stabbing a co-worker in the neck. Now, a Burger King worker in nearby Watertown has been charged with slashing the throat of a customer who complained about a food order.
Police have charged 41-year-old Harold Lee Lewis with first-degree assault, after they arrived at the Main Street fast-food outlet to find the 34-year-old customer bleeding profusely. The victim is in serious condition at Waterbury Hospital. - (guru2000) - (crime) |

Jose Padilla, a US citizen held without charge for more than three years as an enemy combatant, has been charged with planning to undertake "violent jihad".
Mr Padilla was arrested in Chicago in May 2002 on suspicion of planning to explode a radioactive "dirty bomb". Padilla has been under military arrest and was one of only two US citizens designated an enemy combatant.
US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said the charges related to allegations that Mr Padilla travelled overseas to train as a terrorist.
If convicted, he could face life in prison.
The other men named in the indictment are Adham Hassoun, Mohomed Youssef, Kifah Jayyousi and Kassem Daher. 
TAMPA, Fla. - A female teacher pleaded guilty Tuesday to having sex with a 14-year-old middle school student, avoiding prison as part of a plea agreement.
Debra Lafave, 25, whose sensational case made tabloid headlines, will serve three years of house arrest and seven years’ probation. She pleaded guilty to two counts of lewd and lascivious battery.
