Woman's Killing in N.Y. Now Hate Crime WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The fatal stabbing of a 56-year-old woman at a mall will be prosecuted as a hate crime because the suspect said he wanted to kill a white person, authorities said Tuesday. |
| Blacks and Whites Obect to Panhandle Desegregation Order Black and white parents alike are complaining about a 1988 federal court desegregation order that prompted school officials to end a school choice option for Patterson Elementary School in this Florida Panhandle city. The once nearly all-black school had become racially balanced under the court order until the state passed a school choice law that began letting white students leave. By 2003, the school was back to 85 percent black. |
Ramirez To Be Charged With Officer's Shooting Death Irving Ramirez will be formally charged for the shooting death of San Leandro Police Officer Dan Niemi, who was shot while on patrol. His family say they're demanding justice.
Neimi's brother said the voice of victims must be heard. Niemi's widow Dionne Niemi expressed gratitude to the people who helped police catch her husband's alleged killer. .
A funeral for Niemi is set for Monday, at the Three Crosses Church in Castro Valley.

Virginia Beach Man Sentenced for Abducting, Raping Exotic Dancer A man who abducted and raped an exotic dancer last year will spend the next ten years in prison.
Wednesday a Virginia Beach judge sentenced Sean Omar Wilmont to 30 years behind bars, but suspended twenty.
Police say the 23-year-old sailor abducted and raped an exotic dancer on Christmas Eve at a residence in the 5500 block of Magnolia Circle.

Suspected Serial Rapist Arrested, Accused Of Targeting Prostitutes JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police have arrested a suspected serial rapist who they said preyed on prostitutes. Milton Boston Jr. faces 25 charges, including sexual battery, aggravated
assault, kidnapping and robbery, in connection with 13 sexual assaults. " Milton Boston, targeted women, predominately with a history of prostitution," Bowen said. "They typically would be walking in the street and he would engage them in some form of communication. At some point, some of the women would enter into a vehicle with Boston, and then he would strangle the victim to the point of unconsciousness." - (crime) - (Rasp) |
Police officer facing charge of sexual assault on 14-year-old A Bowman police officer was arrested and charged with assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct in connection with an incident involving a 14-year-old girl.
Harry Lee Tucker, 38, was arrested and is being held. According to an affidavit, Tucker took the girl "against her will by force and threat of authority," and "did transport the minor ... to an area where the minor had no recourse but to do as the officer instructed." Documents further allege that while on a dirt road off Kizer Road in Bowman, Tucker "fondle(d) the victim's breasts and pulled her pants to her knees." - (Aryan Barbarian, Tyrone) - (crime) |
Man Charged With Sexual Assault At Water Country PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- A 19-year-old man was charged with sexually assaulting two teenage girls at Water Country on Sunday.
Christopher Andino, of Lynn, Mass., was released on bail and ordered to stay away from two girls he allegedly assaulted in a crowded pool at the water park. The girls told a security guard what happened. - (Brewski) |

Ex-boyfriend opens fire, kills Orlando woman An enraged ex-boyfriend trapped a young medical student in her car Wednesday afternoon and fired more than 30 bullets at her before killing himself, police said. Several witnesses watched helplessly in the parking lot of the woman's apartment complex as the man reloaded his semiautomatic weapon at least once, police said. The victim, Nichola Seegobin, was a 25-year-old optometry student. Police think Seegobin moved in with friends to get away from her ex-boyfriend, Mohan Persaud, 29. Former State Rep. pistol-whipped in apparent robbery by two black males  MIAMI -- Former state Rep. Willie Logan is out of the hospital after a mugging overnight. Logan told police he was driving in the area of Northwest 53rd Avenue and 189th
Street at about 3 a.m. when two men forced him to stop and pistol-whipped him. "He was flagged down by two black males. At the time of the stop, the subject produced a firearm and pistol-whipped Mr. Logan," Logan, a former mayor of Opa-Locka, former state representative and former
candidate for U.S. Senate, was air lifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital and
released Tuesday morning.

Sports: Highschool Football Coach Johnny Gilbert is accused of child molestation and other charges A 15-year-old girl testified before a jury in DeKalb County Tuesday that McNair High School's head football coach ordered her and a teenage boy to commit sexual acts while he watched.
Coach Johnny Gilbert is accused of child molestation and other charges.
The girl described in graphic detail the incident that allegedly took place the night of Jan. 31 when Gilbert caught her and her boyfriend behind the school, where they went to kiss. Even though Gilbert is not accused of touching either teen, who were 14 and 15
years old at the time, he faces up to 90 years in prison if convicted of all six

Burned Alive! Hunt for man accused of burning ex-girlfriend "She's burnt so bad." Family members struggle to hold it together after Latonya Harris is attacked in her home. Police say gasoline is thrown on her face and upper body, then she's set on fire.Derks struggles to hold it together for Harris' kids. "He stood there and watched her burn." Kids, 6 in all, ages 1 to 14, watching their mom burn. Derks says some tried to stop it. "Everytime they would try to put her out, he would hit one of them." Driver Kills Boy Who Threw Egg At Vehicle INDIANAPOLIS -- A "prank" may have cost a boy his life on Indianapolis' west side. As many as seven teenagers were throwing eggs at cars about 11 p.m. Sunday, according to police. Marion County, Ind., sheriff's deputies said that after the juveniles hit one motorist in the face, the man drove off before returning with a gun, shooting one 15-year-old boy in the leg and another 17-year-old boy in the stomach. 'Ghetto Talent Show,' Watermelon Eating Contest Outrages Black Community  The release said that children participating in the summer camp who "know the meaning of ghetto style" would have a chance to "prove just how ghetto they are.''
Members of the black community expressed outrage at the wording of the invitation to the talent show. After being criticized Miami Parks Director Ernest Burkeen, who is black, released a formal apology and announced the renaming of the talent show.

Canada: Black Community Outraged at 'racist candy' featuring a black man with a gold tooth and spider dreadlocks  The label on Sloche strawberry-flavoured gummie spiders sold at Couche-Tard convenience stores in Quebec has upset members of the province's black community. The package features a cartoon of a black man with a gold tooth, earrings and a
scowl. On his head is a giant spider whose legs resemble dreadlocks. Consumers argue that the caricature is insulting and reinforces

The man was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly killed his sister's three-year-old daughter and attempted to kill her other children."
