Police: DNA Links Man To Westport Rapes - "Shy" Bland Faces 990 Years In Prison KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police said Monday that DNA evidence has linked a man to 10 rape cases in Westport in the mid-1980s. Shy Bland, 49, has been in prison since 1986, serving time for another rape. Now, Bland faces 33 more counts after investigators said he was linked to 11 previous cases -- 10 came from DNA and one from an identification. In the mid-1980s, the Westport serial rapist caused a lot of fear in the community. "There have been very few cases that have gripped our community with more fear than the Westport rape cases," said the Jackson County Prosecutor. - (crime) - (Gman) |
DNA evidence links McGill to two murders and one rape DNA evidence and a match with the state databank told Albany police two murders and one rape were connected. But who did that DNA belong to? Police said they now know the DNA is Raymon McGill's. He was convicted of robbery, and was required to give a sample of his own last year. McGill is now facing more jail time for allegedly killing George Young in 2004, Martha Montalvo in her Madison Avenue apartment in 2000 and the rape of a 77-year-old woman also in 2000. - (Brewski) |
Sex offender caught - charged with a rape and kidnapping in St. Paul ST. PAUL (AP) - A fugitive sex offender charged with a rape and kidnapping in St. Paul was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and for fleeing police.The St. Paul Police Department said that Courtney B. Clark, a registered sex offender in Texas, was arrested. .A woman told investigators that on July 16 in an apartment on St. Paul's East Side, her boyfriend was suffocated and she was raped by a man she knew as "Face," according to a criminal complaint filed in the case.The woman told investigators "Face" tied them both up and threw her in a bathroom in the apartment she shared with her boyfriend. She told police she could hear muffled pleas from her boyfriend, Rodney Foster, 50 of St. Paul, before he went silent. - (crime) - (Svejk) |
Sex offender got 11-year-old drunk, then pregnant TAMPA - A registered sex offender is in jail, accused of getting an 11-year-old girl pregnant. Hillsborough County deputies say Ordray Smith, 31, got the girl drunk last August and then had sex with her. Deputies say the suspect admitted to the crime during a taped telephone conversation with the victim's mother, who had contacted authorities about the alleged abuse The girl is now 12 and has had the baby; tests are being conducted to confirm the paternity. - (White Boy) - (crime) |
Norfolk Man Wanted on Rape Charge in Suffolk Suffolk police are looking for a man they say broke into the residence of an ex-girlfriend and physically and sexually assaulted her Sunday morning. According to authorities, the incident happened around 4:00am in a home on North 6th Street. Officials say the victim was treated for broken bones in her face. Police have outstanding warrants on file for 24-year old Gary L. Lawe, of the 1300 block of Hanson Avenue in Norfolk. He is wanted for one count burglary with intent to commit assault, one count of forcible rape and one count unlawful wounding. - (White Boy) - (crime) |
Rape suspect Darius pleads not guilty - claims "consensual sex" A man being held in connection to several area rape cases has pleaded not guilty in Albany County Court. Darius Ashley, 29, of Albany was charged with rape and criminal possession of a weapon. He was arrested after a woman accused him of forcing her into his car and raping her back on July 9. Albany police are looking into whether Ashley has any connection to the murder of 14-year-old Gretchen Perham and an attack on another Albany teen. Jury hurried from court as former death row inmate yells, pushes lawyer Jurors were hurried out of a federal courtroom by marshals Monday as former death row inmate Aaron Patterson suddenly turned on his own lawyers, pushing and yelling that he was being framed. He is on trail for drugs and weapons charges. Patterson is one of the death row inmates Governor George Ryan pardoned before he left office. During his time on the outside Patterson organized protests against everything from police brutality to the Iraq war. But police say he was leading a double life -- community activist by day, gun and drug runner by night. Patterson is the son a former Chicago police lieutenant. - (Aryan Barbarian) |

Man Accused Of Poisoning Teens Turns Self In Police had issued an arrest warrant earlier for the east side man. According to the warrant, Daryl Carter slipped the prenoscription medicine Cyclobedzaprine into soda that he gave four teens in April. They spent several days in intensive care at Children's Hospital. Carter is charged with assault and contaminating substance for human consumption, a first-degree felony. - (Gman) |

Dutch film-maker's killer gets life A Dutch court today sentenced the self-confessed murderer of Dutch film-maker Theo van Gogh to life imprisonment. Mohammed Bouyeri, 27, mounted no defence at his two-day trial earlier this month for the murder of Van Gogh, whom he accused of insulting Islam, and told the court he would do it again if given the chance. The murder on November 2 last year heightened religious and racial tensions in the Netherlands and raised concerns about home-grown Islamist terrorism. - (EU) |
