Accused African American rapist appears in court Stanley Vernard Wells, the man accused of raping a woman in her Palo Alto home Nov. 5, appeared briefly in court Monday afternoon. His attorney waived arraignment and Wells will appear again in court Nov. 22.
Wells, 44, did not speak. A tall, thin African American man with full beard, Wells was dressed in a jail jumpsuit and his hands and feet were shackled.
There were three TV cameras in court, and at times Wells leaned behind his attorney to be shielded from the cameras. - (NNN Norcal) - (forum) |

Migrant Janitor Reymundo Ortiz pleads not guilty: Judge orders rape suspect to forfeit passport A former custodial supervisor at Swampscott High School pled not guilty to charges he sexually assaulted two of his co-workers and raped another co-worker. At his arraignment Reymundo Ortiz, 47, was flanked by two women who attempted to shield him from news cameras. When Ortiz appeared in front of the judge one of the women pushed her way to the other side of the courtroom and started waving her coat wildly to hide his face from public view. Ortiz was arrested over the weekend after charges surfaced that he raped one of his female subordinates and sexually assaulted two other subordinates at Swampscott High School after school hours .He allegedly told one of the women in Spanish: "Every other woman that has worked here has been mine, and you are too proud — that's your problem." Ortiz, whose head was covered with coats, at one point kicked and damaged a television camera that had been placed on the ground. He and members of his family swore at and made obscene gestures to reporters and photographers. |

| Florida: Associates of Accused Palestinian Businessman Convicted of hiring illegal middle-eastern migrants A jury has convicted a business partner and an accountant of a Palestinian-American businessman accused of hiring illegal immigrants to work at his Orlando-area tourist shops, finding the two men guilty on assorted conspiracy, fraud, tax-evasion and money-laundering charges. Mohammed Saleem Khanani, a partner of Jesse Maali in Big Bargain World and Sports Dominator stores and longtime accountant David Portlock, were convicted after an eight-week trial in Orlando's federal court. Both men - and Maali - were charged with 53 counts of hiring illegal immigrants to work in their stores. Eighteen other charges alleged they conspired to use front companies to launder $4.4 million, secretly paid workers and failed to pay federal income and employment taxes. Maali, 59 a millionaire gift-shop proprietor and owner of several restaurants, was severed from the case and his trial delayed so he could undergo treatment for lung cancer. Khanani, 53, was convicted on 60 counts, including 42 of the 53 original counts of hiring illegal immigrants. The jury also found that Khanani hired the undocumented workers - many from the Middle East - to gain "competitive advantage" over other International Drive merchants. |

Anti-Islamic Leader Arrested In Britain  Police have arrested the leader of the far-right British National Party after he was secretly filmed calling Islam wicked and confessing to assaults on Muslims. The party says Nick Griffin has been detained on suspicion of incitement to commit racial hatred. The party's founding chairman, John Tyndall, has also been arrested. In July, the BBC broadcast Mr Griffin giving a speech in which he railed against the Koran and acknowledged his views on Islam were legally dangerous. - (reader link) - (Madkins) Update: BNP head Griffin bailed by police Mr Griffin said he believed his arrest was "politically motivated". Sports: Missouri freshman footballer charged with rape and sodomy Missouri freshman linebacker Alvin Newhouse was charged Monday with forcible rape and forcible sodomy, police said. University police Capt. Brian Weimer said the victim came to police Sunday afternoon, accusing Newhouse of raping her early that morning in his Graham Hall dorm room.
Newhouse also had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court from a campus violation, police said. Reno Savala, Newhouse's guardian in Dallas, Texas, said Newhouse told he was innocent, that the intercourse was "consensual". - (forum) - (more sports) |
Oregon: 16-year-old girl kidnapped, beaten and forced to prostitute for Mexican migrants    Ore. - Police have launched an investigation into charges that a teenage runaway was kidnapped, beaten and forced into a life of prostitution. The 16-year-old told police that a woman held her in a Hillsboro home and took her to motels and migrant camps in the area to work as a prostitute. Three people were arrested after police showed up at the home - 22-year-old Cathie Lynn Sorenson, 39-year-old Laurie Ann Ortiz and 21-year-old Margarito Soto Victoriano. | Migrant José Garcia only gets 65 Years for raping and almost murdering a 13-year-old girl A sicko father of three who raped and pummeled a 13-year-old Long Island girl nearly to death was sentenced yesterday to 65 years behind bars. Calling him an "abomination," the Judge slapped José Garcia, 43, a dishwasher, with the maximum penalty. Garcia's sentences for rape, attempted murder and aggravated sexual assault will run consecutively, all but guaranteeing that he will die behind bars. Garcia attacked the honors student in a secluded area off the Long Island Expressway as she walked home from a Brentwood mini-mart, where she had bought candy bars. He tackled her, knocking her to the ground and ripping at her clothes. She kicked, bit and clawed her attacker, but he bludgeoned her viciously with her shoe until she lost consciousness. He then stuffed leaves and twigs into her mouth to suffocate her. Thinking she was dead, Garcia buried her in a ditch, using a discarded tire, leaves and a tree branch to conceal her — and went home. Despite a shattered skull, broken nose and bleeding of the brain, she gave cops a denoscription. They zeroed in on Garcia after viewing surveillance tapes. - (The Bobster) Ref: Garcia, a native of El Salvador, confessed to dragging the 4-foot-10, 80- pound girl into a garbage-strewn ditch. Ref: Predatory Aliens News "Tens of thousands of violent crimes are committed each year against our children by foreign nationals who should never have been allowed to enter or stay in our country. The most disturbing aspect of this problem is the thousands of unregistered sex offenders who have entered the United States illegally and therefore are not being tracked. These dangerous sex offenders are not included in the Megan's Law data bases, and not even the police know their whereabouts or identities. While (Predatory Aliens News) deals with predatory aliens who commit violent crimes against our children, we must remember that the real criminals are the politicians and government employees who prohibit enforcement of our immigration laws and the proper screening of foreign nationals who enter our country. There can be no penalty too harsh for these politicians and government employees who are willing to sacrifice our children for their own perverse agenda. Since July 9, 2003, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested more than 3,655 foreign national sexual predators in the United States. |

Ohio -- A former director of a Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a young boy, becoming the second mentor from the organization to be convicted of sex crimes in the past two years. James Russell, 66, pleaded guilty to 25 sex-abuse charges involving a boy he mentored for several years at a Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter in central Ohio. On four more rape charges, Russell entered an additional plea in which he said he was innocent but sought to avoid trial. Russell faces up to 144 years in prison, but prosecutors said they would recommend 10 years because of his age. Last year, Scott Wagner, another mentor from the central Ohio organization, was sentenced to 89 years in prison for
