Shots fired at South Bend Police officer  South Bend Police are investigating the attempted murder of one of their own. Around 2 AM Sunday in the 800 block of North Blane Street, South Bend
Officer Scott Severns tried to arrest 22-year-old Floyd Jordan for allegedly threatening neighbors. Jordan reportedly ran into an alley then shot-at Officer Severns four times. Officer Severns fired back but luckily, no one was hit. Jordan was arrested after a foot chase and faces a charge of attempted murder. - (Brewski) |
Migrant from Somalia - Mustafa Mohamed used a knife to slash several elderly people at retirement home A judge denied bail today for a housekeeping worker accused of knifing at least six people at an Alexandria retirement home, including several residents in their 90s.Thirty-year-old Mustafa Mohamed is charged with two counts of malicious wounding in yesterday's attack at Goodwin House. Mohamed worked at the retirement center on the housekeeping staff. Sengel said in court the attack apparently stemmed from a dispute between Mohamed and his supervisor. Mustafa Mohamed, a 30-year-old immigrant from Somalia, faces the possibility of
additional charges in the case. Mohamed was born in Somalia, but that she did not know his immigration status or
how long he has lived in the United States. If he is not a U.S. citizen and is

| Two Teens Killed at Fla. Birthday Party One shooting suspect, Raul Maceda Dominguez, 21, was arrested shortly after the killings around 12:30 a.m. as he tried to flee the house. He was charged with first-degree murder and firearm charges and was being held without bond. Detectives were trying to find the other suspected gunman, Jean Carlo Batista Perez, 24. Ronnie Alcantara, 19, who is accused of helping Maceda try to escape and hide his gun, was arrested. |

Police Identify Suspect In Officer's Shooting Death  Police said Saturday that they have a suspect following Thursday's murder of a Columbus police officer. Authorities are searching for Daryl Martez Lawrence who was receiving treatment at the
Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., Friday night.
Police are calling Lawrence a suspect following Thursday's shooting death of
Columbus police Officer Bryan Hurst. He was killed during a robbery at
Fifth-Third Bank . Hurst, 33, was working special duty at the bank when a man in a ski mask tried to rob it. The robber was wounded in an exchange of gunfire with the officer. - (Rasp)

19-Year-Old Accused In Shooting Of New Orleans Police Commander   New Orleans police arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the shooting of the 4th District Police Commander. Edward Patterson, no known address, was booked with attempted murder of a police officer and resisting arrest. Patterson was on probation for possession of crack cocaine. Capt. Louis Dabdoub was on patrol just after noon when he saw what he thought was a possible truant riding a bicycle. When Dabdoub tried to stop him, the bicyclist pulled a gun from his waistband and fired, hitting the police commander in the leg. Dabdoub returned fire, but the gunman fled into some nearby woods. - (Gman) |
UK: Sports: Pervert African Migrant Rapist to be deported  Disgraced world champion runner Billy Konchellah faced fresh sex attack allegations while he was awaiting trial. The former gold medallist last week admitted indecently assaulting a female student while studying in the Midlands, but was cleared of rape. The detective who led the inquiry warned women to stay clear of the sex pest Kenyan athlete. A jury had heard how the runner met his victim while studying at the city’s university. The court was told Konchellah attacked the young student while she slept at her home. She woke with him on top of her and fled, horrified. Pervert Konchellah claimed he had been watching a pornographic video titled ‘Blacks on Blondes’ with the girl. But despite being acquitted of rape, he admitted indecent assault and was jailed for two years. The African has a Finnish wife and a three year-old son. - (more sports) |
UK: Face of rapist on the run  Peter Gordon, 25, of no fixed address, had been on bail during his trial for the brutal sex attack on a 20-year-old woman in Brixton - and disappeared before he was convicted at Inner London Crown Court. He was sentenced to eight years' jail on December 15. Detective Inspector Nigel Foster said: "Peter Gordon is a genuine danger to women and it is important the police are able to arrest him and enforce the court's sentence." Substitute teacher accused of sex with 'special needs' student  Forty-five-year-old Herbert Mitchell is behind bars after turning himself in to police Friday. Police say Mitchell lured a special education student back to his West Oak Lane home last month, where the assault allegedly occurred. School officials say Mitchell had only recently begun working as a substitute in the district. - (The Bobster)

Local attorneys can't try Titusville slaying case - Suspect's mother is a staffer for prosecutor's office   Prosecutors from outside Brevard County will handle the case of a man accused of beating his girlfriend to death over 11 hours because the man's mother works for the Brevard County State Attorney's Office. The State Attorney said he petitioned Gov. Jeb Bush for permission to assign the case to be handled in Brevard by an attorney from another county, as he did when Gregory McGruder, 25, previously was accused of beating the same victim, Amanda Ratliff, 20. Police said McGruder used a beer bottle, a table leg and a vacuum cleaner during a daylong beating apparently prompted by Ratliff's attempt to flee their relationship. - (forum) |
| Somali Migrant Advocate From Minnesota Convicted In Tennessee - should be deported A Somali activist from Minnesota was convicted in Memphis today on charges of lying to immigration officials. Omar Jamal was convicted on five counts of making false statements on his application to get into the United States. Prosecutors said he committed the crimes in 1998 when he was a student at the University of Memphis. The 31-year-old Jamal is director of the Somali Justice Advocacy Center in St. Paul. - (Tyrone N. Deputies said Adger Armstrong, 47, (pictured) and an accomplice, Wanda Humphries, were
arrested last month after a series of snatch and grab thefts at Houston
department stores, including Nordstrom.
