| Embellishment Or Betrayal - A National Guardsman betrayed his country and fellow soldiers when he tried to pass military information to undercover agents he believed were al Qaeda terrorists, prosecutors charged at the start of his court-martial. Spc. Ryan Anderson, 27, could get life in prison without parole if convicted. Anderson, a Muslim convert, pleaded innocent Aug. 9 to five counts of trying to provide the al Qaeda terrorist network with information about U.S. troop strength and tactics, and methods for killing American soldiers. Pfc. Scott Specht testified Anderson once told him he had joined the Army so he could "go to the motherland and help liberate Muslim brothers." |

Orleans: Suspects Sought In 2 Separate Rape Investigations   Octave
Bazanac, 21, faces a charge of forcible rape. Police said Bazanac took the
21-year-old woman to a hotel where he attacked her. Juwaun Minor, 27, is
wanted for aggravated burglary and aggravated rape. Investigators said Minor walked
a 29-year-old woman to her home, then armed himself with a screwdriver and forced
his way into the home, where he raped the woman and stole property. -

'Hispanic' rapist attacks women sleeping in their homes - speaks English and Spanish Houston
- There are two sketches of the same suspect identified by the victims. He is
described as an Hispanic male, 5'6" to 5'9", in his 20s to early
30s, between 170 and 200 pounds. Police say at times the suspect has had a light
mustache. They say the man speaks in both English and Spanish to his victims.

Police nab suspect they say committed 63 burglaries and raped 13-year-old girl Houston
police say the recent arrest of one man may help them close the books on over
60 burglary cases. Police say Bob Lewis Smith terrorized northeast Houston
for more than a month. Right now the suspect is charged with only one burglary,
but police say he broke into several homes in a small area -- 65 places in all.
Authorities are also charging him with indecency with a child because he allegedly
sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl during

Mobile men charged with plot to kill 12-year-old rape victim  Two
men have been charged in Alabama with plotting to kill a 12-year-old
girl to prevent her from testifying against a 52-year-old man charged
with raping her in a Louisiana motel after meeting her on the Internet. 21-year-old
Michael Villar and 22-year-old Michael Phillips were arrested yesterday.
Villar's father, 52-year-old William Villar, was arrested at a Slidell
motel and charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and enticing a child

An
inmate charged with the rape and murder of an elderly woman in Turlock 18 years
ago was arraigned in Stanislaus County Superior Court. The judge assigned a public
defender to represent Arthur Sanchez, 41. Sanchez is accused of killing
Mary Martha Odermatt,
65, behind Sacred Heart Catholic Church early in the morning on Aug. 11, 1986.
Sanchez is serving life in prison without possibility of parole after he admitted
three other rapes, a stabbing and a murder. - (
After
a six-year roller-coaster ride, a Clarksville family can now rest easy, knowing
that the man who raped their young son will be punished for the crime. Matthew
Kirk McWhorter, 27, was found guilty of child rape Friday after a three-day
trial and nearly 12 hours of jury deliberations. McWhorter was also convicted
federally of crossing state lines with the intent of having
sex with a child. He is still awaiting trial on more than 60 counts
of rape of yet another child. -
