News Man Faces Sexual Battery Charges in Hampton A Newport News man in behind bars in Hampton facing charges of burglary and sexual battery. Hampton police say 24-year old Jason Rashad Taylor broke into a house in the 300 block of Union Street Tuesday just after 12 noon and committed several acts of sexual battery. There was a 20 year old woman living at the residence. Police say the suspect and the victim knew each other. Taylor is currently being held in the Hampton City Jail. - (Tyrone N. Butts) |
Johnson Found Guilty Of Kidnapping, Castration After Fleeing From Court DURHAM, N.C. -- Durham police were looking for a man being tried on kidnapping and malicious castration charges who fled from the courthouse during a break in his trial. Robert Duran Johnson was on trial for kidnapping Walter Harris, beating Harris and shooting off Harris' penis on Easter Sunday 2003. Johnson fled the Durham courthouse. Teen Murder Suspect Appears In Court Monday, a 15-year-old suspect accused of shooting a man during a robbery after the victim stopped to ask directions appeared in court. Police arrested Twain Demario Vaughn, 15, on Friday. He was accused of murdering Kristopher Carlyle after Carlyle and his family got lost while driving around south Nashville Wednesday night. When the family stopped to ask for directions they were robbed by four males. Aspiring country musician shot, killed after car makes wrong turn A North Carolina man who moved to Nashville to follow his dreams in country music was shot dead in front of his family over $10. All of a sudden a group of young teens approached their car and Kristopher asked them for directions. I asked them again how to get on the right road back into town. A fourth boy came up, and I saw a gun and he held it to my son's throat, said Smith. She says all they had was a $10 on them and gave it to the gunman, but it wasn't enough. He shot my son right here over ten dollars. We just wanted directions to get back on the highway," said Kathy Smith. Nashville police are still looking for four young black males. - (Tyrone N. Jackson police searching for three black males for home invasion and gang rape "Three black males came through the back window," said a Jackson Police spokesman. "From that point they apparently kidnapped a 15-year-old male and a 22-year-old female." The threes used the woman's gold Honda Accord to transport the kidnapping victims to an area near Medgar Evers Boulevard. "They made the male get out of the vehicle and tied him to a pole. Three
Teens Sentenced for Hate Crimes RIVERHEAD, N.Y. -- A teenager who took part in a racially motivated firebombing of a Mexican family's home was sentenced Tuesday to up to four years in prison. Two of Kyle Mahler's co-defendants received community service for the July 5, 2003, attack, in which they repeatedly shot fireworks into the Long Island home and then watched it burn to the ground without calling for help. Mahler, 18, of Farmingville, admitted that he drove four of his friends to the immigrants' home that night. He pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment as a hate crime and was sentenced to 1 1/3 to 4 years in prison. |

serial rapist shot dead after taking woman hostage Delaware (AP) -- A convicted serial rapist took a woman prison counselor hostage for more than six hours at a state prison before he was killed by a sharpshooter. Scott A. Miller, 45, was believed to have a homemade knife when he took the woman hostage in the maximum security area of the Delaware Correctional Center and negotiations continued through late afternoon. Miller was sentenced to 699 years for a series of rapes in which nine women were assaulted. - (forum) |

Convicted; Jury Says 90 Years After convicting Rodrico Turner for rape and other crimes, last week, the jury recommended he serve 90 years in prison. Turner threatening to kill her if she didn't comply with his sexual demands brandished a box cutter, slashed her hand when she tried to grab it and prevented her from driving off. Authorities
were seeking a young black man in the rape of an 80-year-old woman Kacy Cannon, 30, is charged with aggravated rape in the trial. Cannon's DNA was entered into a computer pool after he was convicted of another crime. The DNA from the semen on the pantyhose matched Cannon's, and he was then arrested and charged. Authorities said a man asked the elderly woman for a drink of water, then he pushed her inside and raped her on a couch. A neighbor said that day he saw a young black man sitting on a chair on the woman's porch. He said he noted it because it was unusual. - (Tyrone N. Butts) |

Man Arrested, Second Sought In Bike Path Rape - Police Release Suspect's Picture
ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- One man is under arrest and a second is being sought by police in a rape that happened along a bike path in Alexandria. The 22-year-old Alexandria woman was assaulted at gunpoint by two men as she walked along the path. Officers arrested Jose Daniel Bonilla, 28. Officers have identified the second suspect as Rigoberto Ramos, 23. He sometimes goes by "Barbito" and sometimes uses the alias Ismael Alberto Murcia. He's described as a Hispanic man. - (Hellcat) |
