Three Black Men on Trial in Death of White Ga. Debutante |
DNA links black to murder of 84-year-old White woman  Harris County Sheriff’s investigators believe they caught Edric Carmichael Wilson, the man who killed Joel Osteen’s great aunt, Johnnie Daniels. He is charged with capital murder. Wilson appears to be a crack addict with a long criminal history. They said he was already in custody after a traffic violation and car chase Sept. 4.
Wilson was singled out after his DNA as put into a national DNA data base and officials got a hit.
It was Wilson’s DNA that was reportedly found under Daniels' finger nails after her body was found inside her home. “Obviously she did put up a fight. He did beat her with a claw hammer. She was severely beaten. Her face was just completely mangled," said Harris County Sheriff Tommy Thomas.
It happened August 17. Officials said Wilson rifled Daniels' pockets before leaving. Officials said Wilson may also be responsible for another stabbing at 14300 Laredo.
They said Wilson may also be the person who robbed a gas station on the south loop and Wayside August 14.

Execution looms for the black murderer of elderly White couple who were robbed and shot in the head  RICHMOND, Va. -- From their cells on Virginia's death row, the inmates can hear Percy Levar Walton laughing. His chuckles, the inmates say, come from nowhere, and are often mixed with shouts and incoherent babbling. He talks back to voices only he can hear. He once told a psychiatrist he plans to go to Burger King--after he is executed. On Friday, Walton is scheduled to die. And Walton, his attorneys say, has no idea. Walton, 28, came within two hours of death on June 8 when Gov. Timothy M. Kaine delayed the execution for six months to allow for new evaluations of the triple killer's mental condition and competence. Kaine is reviewing the results of those evaluations as he considers Walton's request for clemency. Walton pleaded guilty in 1997 to the murders of Jessie and Elizabeth Kendrick, a couple in their 80s, and 33-year-old Archie Moore. The Danville residents were robbed and shot in the head; Moore's body was found stuffed in a closet, his corpse doused in cologne. At trial, Fuller called Walton "a sadistic, ruthless and cold-blooded murderer who has no conscience." Black former Burger King employee arrested for murder of White mother of three and BK manager   LINDENHURST -- James Ealy was arrested for the murder of Burger King manager Mary Hutchison. He was charged with first-degree murder according to Lindenhurst Police. Ealy was being held in Jail late Friday. Ealy is employed as a service worker at a fast-food restaurant and at a department store. Ealy is a former employee of the Lindenhurst Burger King. He could not say when he worked at the store or if the suspect knew Hutchison. Authorities searched the Lakeview Terrance apartment complex and also drained 50,000 gallons of water from a retention pond near the fast-food restaurant. Hutchison was found Monday morning inside the Burger King by another employee who used her key to get into the restaurant to start her shift. Black Trash Collector Guilty in Cape Cod Rape-Murder of White woman  A trash collector was convicted on Thursday in the 2002 rape and murder of Christa Worthington, a fashion writer who was stabbed to death and was found in her bungalow on Cape Cod with her 2-year-old daughter clutching her body. The trash collector, Christopher McCowen, 34, was found guilty of first-degree murder with extreme atrocity, aggravated rape and aggravated armed burglary. The judge sentenced McCowen to three concurrent terms of life in prison without parole. The killing of Ms. Worthington, 46, who had lived in New York and Paris before moving to the quiet beach town of Truro, attracted international news coverage, in part because of the grisly and poignant elements of the crime. The police said Ms. Worthington’s daughter, Ava, may have spent up to 36 hours at the bloody scene before she was found trying to breastfeed from her mother. It took the police more than three years to make an arrest. They initially focused on several of Ms. Worthington’s former boyfriends, including Ava’s father, a married man. Detectives arrest black suspects in beating death of white man   Police announced the arrest of two people for the beating death of a man in Southeast Portland. According to Cathe Kent of the Portland Police Bureau, detectives and U.S. Marshalls arrested 39-year-old Charles Louis Sampson, Jr., and 47-year-old Brenda Lee Hudson in connection with the murder of 57-year-old Ronald Lee McClanahan. McClanahan’s body was found in the home on SE 141st Avenue in September. A medical examiner said he died from blunt force trauma. Kent said detectives think the victim let the two suspects into the home, they then planned to rob McClanahan. The two suspects were charged with aggravated murder and were due in court Thursday afternoon. Black Suspect arrested in white deputy's killing; two others in custody   A massive 17-hour hunt led to the arrest Sunday afternoon of a man suspected of shooting dead one Broward Sheriff's deputy and wounding a second in what Sheriff Ken Jenne called "a heartless, cold-blooded assassination." Eloyn Devon Ingraham, 28, was arrested at a Dania Beach motel, accused of killing Deputy Brian Tephford, 34, and wounding Deputy Corey Carbocci during a Saturday night traffic stop outside a condominium complex. Carbocci, a three-year veteran, was wearing a protective vest when he was shot four times. He was in stable condition at Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. Ingraham's name has come up before in another high-profile case: The unsolved 2002 murder of 17-year-old Marissa Karp, who was shot in the head and dumped in an Everglades canal, according to court records. The Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant in April 2005 to get DNA samples from Ingraham in the case. In addition to Ingraham, Bernard Forbes, 22, and Andre Delancy, 19, were were taken into custody. White Montgomery police officer shot by a black motorist died late Saturday  A Montgomery police officer shot by a motorist died late Saturday just hours after the man accused of shooting him was extradited to the Capital City. Officer Keith E. Houts, 30, had been in critical condition at Jackson Hospital since he was shot in the head Thursday. Houts, who suffered a stroke Friday and battled pneumonia Saturday, died at 9:53 p.m., said Capt. Huey Thornton, a Montgomery police spokesman. Funeral arrangements had not been announced late Saturday. The charges against Mario Woodward, the man accused of shooting Houts, were upgraded to capital murder, according to police. Woodward was escorted into the Police Department on Saturday afternoon in front of Houts’ fellow officers, who embraced one another, fighting back tears. Woodward, 32, is charged with shooting Houts during a traffic stop in north Montgomery. Black man charged with capital murder in pregnant white girlfriend's slaying  A northwest Houston man faces a capital murder charge, accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend. Houston police arrested Vellar Clark, III, at his home on Tuesday. Back in March, the body of Gwen Sneed was found lying next to her motorcycle in a business district in north Houston. She was six weeks pregnant and had been shot to death. Her family says she had planned to end the relationship with Clark. He is currently in jail with no bond. Ref: Pregnant woman killed while riding motorcycle Someone shot and killed 29-year-old Gwen Sneed near Hedgecroft at the North Beltway Sunday afternoon. She died from a single shot to the head. Sneed was out riding her motorcycle when it happened. "Somebody please has got to know something. That's all I ask," said June Sneed. "I want the man found." Black employee gunned down white manager - execution style  Police have arrested a former employee and were searching Saturday for several other suspects in connection with the execution-style slaying earlier this week of a Hurst miniature golf course manager. David Storey, 22, has been charged with capital murder in the killing of Jonas Cherry, the assistant manager who police said was gunned down execution style Monday at the Putt-Putt Golf & Games Center. Police said Storey was driving the 2002 Ford Explorer that was captured on surveillance video leaving the center around the time of the killing. Man Pleads No Contest In Fatal Lenexa Stabbing  OLATHE, Kan. -- A Johnson County man pleaded no contest to murder in a case of "random" violence. Police said Nigel Marcotte, 42, was stabbed to death in his Lenexa home in December 2005 because he left his garage door open."He was a wonderful man, a wonderful husband and he's missed every day by numerous people," said Reina Marcotte, Nigel's widow. Prosecutors said Charles "Kris" Riddle, of Olathe, stole the victim's credit cards and used two of them. Riddle's plea of no contest means he admits the state has enough evidence to convict him. Investigators said Riddle chose the Marcotte home because the garage door was open. Police said Riddle first stole credit cards from Marcotte's car, then went inside and confronted him. Riddle was armed with a watermelon knife and wore gloves and a ski mask, police said.Investigators said Riddle used two of the stolen credit cards in Platte County, one was at a grocery store, the other was "at an Outback Steakhouse about nine hours after the homicide to buy Mr. Riddle and a couple of his buddies dinner there and drinks." - (Newsroom) - (crime) - (Black-on-white) |

The conviction of Rudy Fleming, 20, sparked tears of relief from the family of Minnesota native Nicole duFresne, who was shot in the heart for boldly standing up to the gunman after he pistol-whipped her fiancé. "Black Messiah" linked to beheadings asks to 'die with dignity' MIAMI -- Yahweh Ben Yahweh, a former cult leader linked to nearly two dozen gruesome killings in the 1980s, is seeking immediate release from parole supervision because he has advanced cancer and wants to die with dignity, his lawyers said Friday. Yahweh, 70, is asking U.S. District Judge Marcia Cooke to order the federal Parole Commission to quickly make a decision on whether to terminate parole in his case. He lives in the Miami area. Yahweh was born Hulon Mitchell Jr. in Oklahoma and changed his name to the Hebrew words for "God, son of God." He served 11 years of an 18-year federal prison sentence for a racketeering conviction stemming from his role in up to 23 murders, some involving beheadings and severed ears and fingers. He was once head of the Nation of Yahweh, boasting hundreds of followers who often dressed completely in white and who once won praise for rehabilitating blighted Miami neighborhoods. Fla. Sheriff Says Slaying Suspect Killed * Fallen deputy was 12-year veteran  LAKELAND, Fla. -- SWAT team members on Friday fatally shot a man suspected of killing a sheriff's deputy a day earlier, ending an intensive manhunt that had gripped this rural area, officials said. The suspect was shot numerous times after he was found in thick brush, just 100 yards away from where Deputy Vernon Matthew Williams was killed in Thursday's burst of gunfire, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said. Hundreds of officers had used night-vision scopes, tracking dogs, helicopters and door-to-door searches to try to locate the man, who fled from Williams after another deputy stopped him for speeding. The tangled brush forced SWAT members to walk shoulder to shoulder, and they didn't see the suspect until they were beside him, Judd said. He had dug himself in beneath a fallen oak tree. The suspect refused to show both of his hands when officers commanded him to, Judd said. He said the officers opened fire after seeing that he appeared to have Williams' .45-caliber weapon, Judd said. Black boyfriend charged in murder of white woman that spawned his bastard  Heather J. Robbins was 22 years old, a single mother of an 8-month-old boy and recently laid off from her job. But she always looked for the best in people, said her father, Raymond Robbins. She paid the price for that unbounded optimism, he said after the woman’s body was found in the trunk of a vehicle abandoned at Liberty Hospital. “She was a beautiful and intelligent girl who deserved a chance and didn’t get it,” her father said, fighting back tears. “She should be burying me; I shouldn’t be burying her.” Joseph L. Hill, her boyfriend and the father of the baby, Isaiah, was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Hill, 20, is being held on $1 million bond. Smiling Black pleads not guilty to running down a white family in McDonald's parking lot - killing 2-year-old   The black man accused of running down five white family members and killing a 2-year-old girl in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in Covington last May pleaded not guilty. Lanny Perry Barnes, 46, attended the 15-minute arraignment hearing wearing street clothes and no expression on his face. Sitting behind him was Stephanie Casola, the mother who was hit, along with her two sons, niece, and sister, by Barnes' vehicle. Witnesses told police that Barnes struck the family, backed up, smiled, and drove into them again. Casola's niece, Avery King, died of her injuries. Skull Found in creek ID'd as 5-year-old White girl Emily Rimel - kidnaped, raped and murdered by black   A skull found in a creek earlier this week has been identified as that of a five-year-old columbus-area girl who disappeared a year and a-half ago. Investigators have identified the remains of Emily Rimel through DNA. Emily was last seen at her home early in the morning on December 7th, 2004. Two people fishing found the skull on Tuesday. The Coroner ays there was trauma to the skull. With confirmation that the remains are those of Emily Rimel, the prosecutor's office can move ahead with plans to seek murder charges against the main suspect. Lindsay Bruce, is serving a 10-year sentence after he was convicted of kidnapping Rimel in December 2004. At the time, Bruce was not charged with murder. While Ohio law does not require the presence of a corpse to charge someone in a homicide, doing so without a body does raise the chances that a jury could acquit. O'Brien says this could easily become a death penalty case based on several factors, including Rimel's age. Over the next few weeks, reports will be written state crime lab investigators and the county coroner's office. Dark Demon Sex Offender Charged With Kidnap-Rape-Kill of White 11-year-old Jacksonville Girl In 1996  Fla. -- A Connecticut sex offender will be returned to Florida to face a murder charge after being linked to the decade-old rape and drowning of an 11-year-old girl through a database of DNA from convicted sex offenders. Robert Shelton Mitchell, 43, was being held on a $5 million bond after being arraigned as a fugitive. He will face first-degree murder and capital sexual battery charges in the death of Cherie Morrisette of Jacksonville. The Mandarin Middle School student body was found on Dec. 8, 1996, floating in the St. John's River about 10 miles south of the apartment she shared with her mother and sister. An autopsy determined that Cherie drowned shortly after her disappearance on Dec. 2, 1996, and was alive when she either fell into the river or was thrown in. Police labeled the death suspicious, and authorities found a small DNA sample on her underwear and body. Mitchell lived in nearby Middleburg at the time of the girl's death, police said Thursday. Mitchell later moved to Connecticut and was convicted in January 2003 of illegal sexual contact with another child.
