Black Panther wannabe finally convicted for assassination of white police officer in 1970   A jury convicted Larry Clark today of aiding and abetting first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree for the 1970 slaying of St. Paul police officer James Sackett. Clark, 55, is expected to be sentenced today following a hearing in which the slain officer's family will tell the judge about how Sackett's death affected their lives.
Clark is the second man convicted for a slaying that for decades remained one of the city's most painful unsolved murder cases. In March, Ronald Reed, 55, was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy and sentenced to life in prison.
Prosecutors argued at both trials the Clark and Reed, who are black, were militant young men bent on impressing national leaders of the Black Panthers. In the racially charged late 1960s and early 1970s, the state argued, Clark and Reed conspired to kill a police officer. Sackett, who was white, responded to a phony call of a pregnant woman in distress at 859 Hague Ave., in St. Paul's Summit-University neighborhood. A man convicted of raping and murdering a woman in 1988 was executed by injection Wednesday night. Authorities said he was the first Nevada convict to be sentenced to death based solely on DNA evidence. "Allah is great, Allah is great," Daryl Linnie Mack, a black man, said before he died. He was pronounced dead at 9:06 p.m. Mack had said he would rather be executed than spend the rest of his life in prison. He claimed he didn't strangle Betty Jane May, 55, in the Reno boarding house where she lived. Mack was serving a life sentence in prison for murdering Kim Parks in 1994 in a Reno motel when he was linked to May's murder. A homicide detective reviewing inactive cases noticed blood and semen samples that had never been tested. Such DNA tests had not been developed at the time of May's slaying. Instead, she rode her bike or walked when she had errands around town. Described as a tiny, quiet woman by her daughter, May had "a tender heart for cats," loved reading mystery books to her kids and introduced them to music. After her children were grown, she and her military husband divorced and she moved into a room at a boarding house in southwest Reno. On Oct. 28, 1988, a friend who stopped by to borrow money found May slumped over her bed, with bruises on her arms and legs and blood stains on her blue blouse. She had been strangled and brutally raped. |

Charges were filed against the teens accused of his murder Monday afternoon.
The South Bend Police Corporal died Sunday. He was gunned down Friday night on the city's eastside, during an armed robbery attempt.
Severns was off-duty and in civilian clothes at the time of shooting.
He was shot three times after he moved to protect a female friend from gunfire. Two (black) teenagers are in police custody, accused in Corporal Severns' death.
Seventeen-year-old Jeffrey Finley, a junior at Clay High School, was released from Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center Monday morning.
He was injured when Corporal Severns returned fire.

Black Man Found Guilty Of Killing White Woman He Met At Bus Stop  A Milwaukee man was found guilty Thursday of killing a woman he met at a bus stop and then dumping her body in a garbage bin. Timothy Berthold told investigators a voice told him to stab Christine Hemphill. Police said they linked Berthold to the murder through DNA already in their database. Black Suspect From colorado Beats White Texas Police Officer - Civilian comes to officer's rescue A police officer in McKinney, Texas, was injured during a brutal attack by a motorist during a traffic stop. Officer Russell May's dash camera was rolling when he responded to a disturbance call. A man, who police identified as Joshua Jones, was then shown jumping out of the vehicle and attacking the officer for no apparent reason. "When he hit me I figured he was going to take off and run," May said. "That's what a lot of them do." "I realized this is for keeps and he really wants to inflict some harm if not try and kill me," May said. A Good Samaritan stepped in and helped the injured officer as witnesses called 911 for help. | African-American male breaks into home and murders 59-year-old woman - her son shoots him dead in self defense FORT WASHINGTON, Md. -- Prince George's County police have released more information about a double-homicide that happened Wednesday night at a home in Fort Washington, Md. Police said officers went to a home on the report of a breaking and entering. When officers arrived, they discovered two homicide victims and a man inside the house. Police said one victim was 59-year-old Patricia Caniglia, the female resident of the house, and the other was the apparent suspect of the breaking and entering and the person who shot and killed Caniglia. Investigators said the suspect entered the home and confronted Caniglia. At some point, the suspect shot and killed Caniglia and then turned on her 24-year-old son, Antonio Caniglia, who was in another part of the house. Investigators say Sister Karen walked in on a man stealing her cell phone here at the Bissonette House, and he killed her. When police tried calling Sister Karen's cell phone, and reached someone who had bought the phone from 36 year old Craig Lynch who confessed to killing her and burying her body. White restaurateur shot to death by two blacks - one arrested The teenager accused of robbing a Buffalo restaurant, then fatally shooting the owner, appeared in court for the first time. 18-year-old Ramone Woods has been charged with robbery and murder. Police say Woods shot and killed 43-year-old George Pitliangas when he robbed Tony's Ranch House on Friday. Dorian Gaskin, a friend of the victim, said, "George died protecting the girls that worked there, his employees. What kind of person...? That's not a kid; that's a monster." Daughter of Black Sentenced To 30 Years For Role In White Teacher's Kidnap, Rape and Murder   The teenage daughter of the man convicted of killing an Alamo Heights teacher was sentenced to 30 years in the Texas Youth Commission. The punishment for Pearl Cruz, 17, was in exchange for testimony against her father, Ronnie Neal, in his capital murder trial. Neal was found guilty of abducting, raping and fatally shooting Diane Tilly in November 2004. He was sentenced to die by lethal injection. Black boyfriend sentenced to life in prison for the drowning deaths of his former white girlfriend's three children    Maurice LaGrone Jr. was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the drowning deaths of his white former girlfriend's three children in Clinton Lake in 2003.
The McLean County jury that convicted LaGrone on Tuesday met Wednesday to decide if LaGrone was eligible for the death penalty. LaGrone was found guilty on all nine counts of first-degree murder. Amanda Hamm, the mother of the 3 children, is also charged in the deaths of six-year-old Christopher Hamm, three-year old Austin Brown, and 23-month-old Kyleigh Hamm. Police Place Black Tenant Under Arrest  Montgomery County police, armed with a search warrant, searched the home of a missing 83-year-old man and found his body in the laundry room. And police believe the suspect, who is now in custody, may have been living in the house for weeks with the victim's body still inside. Police said William King was last seen March 19 by his neighbors. Detectives said King's boarder, 41-year-old Kirk Wilkerson, allegedly killed the elderly man and then continued to live in the house with the hidden body. "The body was found in the laundry room. There was a huge pile of clothes inside the laundry room and the body was found in the area of the clothes," Burnett said. Black Misceginist Stepfather Accused of Raping white 10-year-old girl, impregnating her - white wife/mother also charged   Iowa - Parma police have been working with Iowa investigators in the case of a girl allegedly being raped by her stepfather. Joseph Coles, 40, is accused of impregnating the girl twice. Coles was charged with 242 counts, including kidnapping, rape, gross sexual imposition and endangering a child. He faces life in prison if convicted.
His wife, Dawn Coles, 36, was charged with five counts, including tampering with evidence, obstructing justice and endangering children. During this time period the victim was between 10 and 15 years of age. On two separate occasions, the victim became pregnant as the result of these attacks, the first time being at the age of 12. UK: A savage Somali migrant girl slashed the face of a White English girl A 12-year-old (Somali) girl has appeared in court accused of attacking a slashing a schoolmate's face and leaving her needing 30 stitches. The defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of wounding 13-year-old Shanni Naylor with intent.She was charged after an attack at a Sheffield school which left Shanni with long scars across her face. No pleas were entered at the hearing but a provisional trial date was set for April 24. The Recorder of Sheffield, Alan Goldsack QC, granted the defendant bail on condition she does not contact Shanni, who lives in the Arbourthorne area of the city. Oswalt has been a Portland Police Bureau desk clerk for 10 years and worked under Foxworth when he was a commander of the Northeast Precinct in 2000.
In a torte claim, which could result in a lawsuit, she alleges that Foxworth sent her sexually explicit e-mails and ordered her to keep their relationship a secret. She says she was a victim of sexual discrimination and that Foxworth's actions made her fear for her job.

And two men previously arrested in connection with the death of Joe Franklin Prock each was booked Thursday on a charge of aggravated burglary instead of armed robbery as originally thought. Felton Dejuan Dorsey, 32, and Randy Jerome Wilson, 20, each also face one count each of first-degree murder and attempted first degree murder. Black College Cop Convicted Of Sexually Assaulting 18-Year-Old  MIAMI -- An ex-college police officer convicted of sexual assault on an 18-year-old was sentenced Wednesday, almost a month after originally scheduled. Former Florida International University police officer Frederick Eugene Currie was sentenced to 10 years in prison after a jury in January found him guilty of sexually assaulting the woman during a check of her vehicle July 8, 2005. The woman and her boyfriend and had been parked in the vehicle and were partially unclothed when Currie approached them. Garth Brooks' Ex-Wife Sandy Brooks Kidnapped at Gunpoint in Oklahoma  The ex-wife of country music star Garth Brooks was kidnapped at gunpoint by a man who worked on her farm after she cooperated with a bail bondsman who wanted to arrest the worker. Sandy Brooks had allowed the bondsman onto her property Monday to apprehend the man, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The worker responded by drawing a weapon, forcing her into a car and ordering her to drive away, said Barry Lamb, undersheriff of Rogers County. After driving for several miles, Brooks stopped the car and fled into a convenience store, Lamb said. Dark Demon Sex Offender Charged With Kidnap-Rape-Kill of White 11-year-old Jacksonville Girl In 1996  Fla. -- A Connecticut sex offender will be returned to Florida to face a murder charge after being linked to the decade-old rape and drowning of an 11-year-old girl through a database of DNA from convicted sex offenders. Robert Shelton Mitchell, 43, was being held on a $5 million bond after being arraigned as a fugitive. He will face first-degree murder and capital sexual battery charges in the death of Cherie Morrisette of Jacksonville. The Mandarin Middle School student body was found on Dec. 8, 1996, floating in the St. John's River about 10 miles south of the apartment she shared with her mother and sister. An autopsy determined that Cherie drowned shortly after her disappearance on Dec. 2, 1996, and was alive when she either fell into the river or was thrown in. Police labeled the death suspicious, and authorities found a small DNA sample on her underwear and body. Mitchell lived in nearby Middleburg at the time of the girl's death, police said Thursday. Mitchell later moved to Connecticut and was convicted in January 2003 of illegal sexual contact with another child.

The girl is presumed dead, but Bruce was not charged with murder. Lindsey Bruce was charged with kidnapping and raping Emily Rimel, who has been missing since December. She was last seen in her Madison Township home on the night when Bruce was visiting. Rimel's body has not been found and Bruce was not charged with murder.
