    Texas Man Tied to Four Slayings Executed

HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- A former farm worker from central Texas was executed Wednesday for beating a man to death with a car jack during a violent spree 17 years ago. "I wish I could do something to replace your father, your loved one," Gary Sterling said. "But I can't. I know this was a heinous crime." He was condemned for the May 1988 death of John Carty, 72, at his home near Corsicana. Prosecutors also had evidence tying Sterling to the slaying of Delores Smith, 52, a friend of Carty's whose purse and glasses were found at Sterling's home. Sterling led police to their bodies after he was arrested for the slayings of brothers William Porter, 72, and Leroy Porter, 71, near Waco. - (crime)

    UK cops hunting black migrant South African rape gang
Residents of an English city are living in fear after a group of men, suspected to be from South Africa, overpowered three women in the street, abducted and raped them. Three of them were kidnapped in two different cars - a BMW and a Fiat Punto - and each was raped by three men. A 15-year-old girl and another woman managed to escape and called police. According to police statements, the women said the suspects spoke to each other in "heavy South African accents". A preliminary investigation apparently indicated they were South African citizens.     Man, Teen Charged With Murder In Home Invasion
Brian C. RossJazwon M. FranklinKANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man and a teenager were charged with murder in a home invasion from last year, prosecutors said. On Sept. 18, Christopher Cummings was shot and killed inside his home. According to court documents, the culprit then stole Cummings' wallet and necklaces. Brian C. Ross, 21, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He is being held on $200,000 bond. Jazwon M. Franklin, 17, was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Prosecutors requested a $100,000 bond. - (crime) - (White Boy)

    Man Arrested In Connection With Body Found In Shed
Patrick EvansFort Worth police have arrested Patrick Evans, saying he is wanted in connection with the death of a "Houston person". Police said Evans drove to Fort Worth from Houston with the body in the trunk of his car, and then stuffed the body into a storage shed. The body was found last week wrapped in a tarp in a shed in the back yard of an east Fort Worth home. Police found the body while searching the home of a person involved in a police chase. - (aryan_barbarian) - (crime)

    Woman Accused Of Defrauding 72-Year-Old Man
Reejeanie Williams BrooksNEW ORLEANSNew Orleans police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a 45-year-old Algiers woman accused of defrauding a man out of more than $10,000. According to investigators, the 72-year-old victim was confined to a convalescence home following major surgery. The owner/operator of the home, Reejeanie Williams Brooks told him that his home was going to be foreclosed if the mortgage was not paid. In order to prevent the foreclosure, Brooks told the man that she paid his mortgage from August 2004 through April 2005 and wanted to be reimbursed. The victim returned to the bank with Brooks and obtained a check in her name for the amount of $10,355. - (White Boy)

    Diversity: Black and white women accused of abducting and robbing elderly man
Tammy L. Blake, 40, and Cassundra R. McGillINDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Two women allegedly abducted and robbed an 80-year-old Independence man. Police alleged that Tammy L. Blake, 40, and Cassundra R. McGill, 37, followed the man to his home and confronted him about "a traffic accident". They then allegedly threatened him with a hidden handgun, bound and blindfolded him, The pair then allegedly forced him to go to his bank and withdraw a large sum of money.     Secret Service Looks for Suspect Passing Counterfeit Bills
Melvin McIntoshThe U.S. Secret Service and the Virginia Beach Police are asking for the public's help in locating a man suspected of passing counterfeit $20 bills at local convenience stores. Officials believe 30-year old Melvin McIntosh has been passing the fake bills for the past few years. McIntosh is wanted on federal warrants for possession of counterfeit currency, conspiracy to pass counterfeit currency and dealing of counterfeit currency. - (Tyrone N. Butts) - (TNB)

    School Board member Charles Love Set To Enter Guilty Pleas In Tennessee Waltz Case
Charles LoveHamilton County School Board member Charles Love is set to enter guilty pleas in the "Tennessee Waltz FBI sting". Lee Davis, one of his attorneys, said depending upon the Federal Court in Memphis, Love could enter the guilty pleas as early as next Thursday. In papers mailed to attorneys in the case and filed in Federal Court in Memphis, Love says he will plead guilty on charges of conspiracy to bribe Sen. Ward Crutchfield of Chattanooga and Rep. Chris Newton of Cleveland. Love has not yet given up his seat on the School Board. - (Tyrone N. Butts) - (TNB)

    Escapee nabbed: Lawson, alleged accomplice in slammer
Garfield Lawson III Kathy Lynn SleepROTHSCHILD, WIS. - Escaped Baraga Maximum Correctional Facility life-sentence felon Garfield Lawson III and accomplice Kathy Lynn Sleep were captured by police early today in Wisconsin, just southeast of Wausau. Lawson, 35, escaped Saturday from the Baraga Maximum Correctional Facility, where he had been serving a life sentence since 1999. Lawson was accompanied by Kathy Lynn Sleep, a 42-year-old civilian who worked in the food services department at the prison. The pair were arrested largely without incident at a motel in Rothschild, Wis., "The male did try to escape out the window and he was arrested outside the window." Marathon County deputies and Rothschild police located the pair after receiving a tip. - (reader link) - (crime)
