Two (White) Firefighters in stable condition after stabbing by berserk black SAN DIEGO - Two firefighters who were jumped and stabbed during a medical-aid call at an East Village transit depot were recovering from their "near-death experience" Thursday. "I'm very, very pleased to be here today to announce that those firefighters are going to be OK," San Diego Fire Chief Javier Mainar said during a briefing at downtown police headquarters. Alex Wallbertt, 37, and Ben Vernon, 32, were tending to a patient at the trolley station in the 500 block of Park Boulevard shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday when a bystander, 34-year-old Ryan Allen Jones, allegedly began interfering with them. "He was asked several times by the firefighters to move back," San Diego Police Department Chief Shelley Zimmerman told reporters. "He continued to interfere with the firefighters rendering the aid, and an altercation occurred." Jones allegedly attacked Vernon with a folding knife, prompting Wallbertt to come to his colleague's aid. During the ensuing struggle, both firefighters suffered multiple stab wounds to their upper bodies. Transit security officers ended the assault by pulling the 6-foot-3-inch, 210-pound assailant off the victims and dousing him with pepper spray, authorities said. The guards then held Jones until police arrived. Medics took Vernon to Scripps Mercy Hospital for treatment of stab wounds to his back, one of which resulted in a collapsed lung, Mainar said. Wallbertt was admitted to UCSD Medical Center with less severe injuries to his upper body. - (Black-on-white) |

Court: (Black) Man With 74 IQ Can’t Be Executed For Slaying of (White) Philadelphia Police Officer HARRISBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania’s high court says a man convicted of murdering a Philadelphia police officer can’t be executed because he has an IQ of 74. The state Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld a lower court ruling that Edward Bracey’s below-average intellectual functioning made him ineligible for the death penalty. Bracey is serving a life sentence without possibility of parole in the 1991 murder of 21-year-old officer Daniel Boyle. Boyle’s sister tells the Grand Forks Herald in North Dakota that the ruling was excruciating, unfair and not justice. Kathleen Wrigley is the wife of North Dakota Lt. Gov. Drew Wrigley. The Pennsylvania court voted 4-1 to uphold Judge M. Teresa Sarmina’s January 2014 ruling sparing the 52-year-old Bracey. Authorities say Jerrick (Rico) Washington, 18, is wanted for the murder and robbery of 31-year-old Jacob Shadrick. Police: (Black) home invaders forced (White) woman to withdraw money from ATM ROSWELL, Ga. — Roswell police are searching for two gunmen who broke into a home, pistol-whipped a man, then forced his wife to drive to an ATM at gunpoint. The husband said the suspects threw a large paver stone through a back window, while his wife was working just a few feet away. He said she ran to get him, and the gunmen followed her, striking him in the face with a gun, and forcing her to floor. The man, who asked not to be identified, said the suspects forced him to wake up his small children, and held them at gunpoint while one of the men forced his wife to drive to a nearby bank. He said one of the suspects said they were in a gang and that the crime was retaliation against white people. He said the man also asked for the names and occupations of his neighbors, and whether they had children. “That’s unbelievable,” said neighbor Robert Rose. “We moved here because it was safe.” Neighbor Keith Goeke is president of a nearby homeowner’s association. “It’s pretty disconcerting, considering I’ve lived in this area since 2003 and we’ve never had an occurrence like this in this area whatsoever,” he said. Officer Lisa Holland told Petchenik detectives are looking into whether the case could be related to a recent home invasion in Buckhead in which gunman broke into a house on Paces Ridge Road and held a family hostage. - (Black-on-white) |

(White) Teen was hunting lost phone when shot dead (by three blacks) LONDON, Ont. — Police are searching for three suspects after Jeremy Cook, 18, who recently moved to the city to pursue a carpentry career was gunned down in a parking lot Sunday while trying to track down his lost cellphone. He had never been in trouble with the law in London and didn’t know his killers, police said. So far the investigation shows Cook accidentally left his cellphone in a taxi earlier that morning or the previous night. He used a device to track the phone to an address, police said. Cook and a relative went there and approached a silver Mazda sedan with three men in it at about 5:15 a.m. Sunday. The men inside weren't giving the phone back to Cook, police said. During the confrontation over the phone, one man jumped out of the car and walked away and the driver stepped on the gas. Cook grabbed the driver's door and held onto the car as it peeled away out of the parking lot. Police responded to the reports of gunshots and found Cook bleeding behind a plaza. He died at the scene. The Mazda smashed into a fence and hydro pole and police found it abandoned. "It's very tragic that an incident involving a lost phone resulted in the loss of a life," Steeves said. - (Black-on-white) - (Canada) |

1 pleads guilty to perjury in Battaglia death GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — One of three people charged with perjury in connection to a 1990 homicide has pleaded guilty. During a Monday status conference, Sheila Reed pleaded guilty as charged to perjury while under an investigative subpoena, according to Kent County Judge Mark Trusock’s office. Reed, 57, of Grand Rapids was charged with perjury in connection to the 1990 robbery and beating death of 23-year-old Joel Battaglia in Grand Rapids. His murder remained unsolved until late last year, when four people were arrested in the case. Aurelias Marshall was charged with the homicide, and Reed and two others with perjury. Marshall was convicted of murder earlier this month. Authorities also now say they think Marshall framed another man for sexually assaulting his then-girlfriend’s 10-year-old daughter in 1991. The Kent County prosecutor has filed a motion to vacate Quentin Carter’s conviction in that case. Malcolm Jeffries and Aurelias Marshall’s brother Acey Marshall, both of whom also face perjury charges, were also scheduled for status conferences Monday. - (Black-on-white) |

(Black) Caregiver indicted for elder neglect in death of (White) north Forsyth woman, 81 FORSYTH COUNTY — A caregiver has been indicted on charges of elder neglect after the Forsyth County woman in her care died. According to the indictment from Forsyth County Superior Court, Ileane Leverne Madison faces one count of neglect to an elder person and one count of exploitation and intimidation of elder persons. Court records show Madison has been accused of purposefully depriving Sara Francis Cash, who was 81 at the time, of care to the extent that her health and well-being were jeopardized. According to a Forsyth County Sheriff’s report, Cash was found in her room on July 7, 2014, covered in “deep black and purple bruises all over her body.” Reports that Madison had pushed Cash down have not been substantiated, said Robin Regan, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, and are evidenced by lack of a homicide charge. “Her autopsy showed injuries from a fall played a part in the cause of death, but the actual cause was undetermined ultimately,” Regan said. - (Black-on-white) |

(White) Girlfriend of black footballer recants abuse story, says prosecution is racist in domestic violence case The girlfriend of Arizona State University’s five-star football recruit claimed the prosecution of Davon Durant on charges of domestic violence is influenced by race and misogyny Tuesday. Kelsi Langley, 19, originally told Tempe Police that Durant hit her and tried to strangle her after witnesses called police and reported seeing a man beating a girl inside a car. But, Langley recanted her story to Tempe Police shortly after Durant was arrested. She was joined at a press conference Tuesday by civil rights activist Jarrett Maupin, who called for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office to reconsider its prosecution of Durant. “There have been attempts by law enforcement and others to paint this as another situation where you have a black athlete who is aggressive, overly aggressive, and overly sexual.” Tempe Police said they have physical evidence in the case, including photos of her injuries, as well as eye witnesses. Domestic violence victims often change their stories. Victim advocates agree. - (Black-on-white) |

Women say they were assaulted, attacked with piece of concrete (by black female) near Plaza during car robbery KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An attack on two women has a neighborhood west of the Country Club Plaza on edge. A brutal beating and car theft could have turned out much worse than it did, if not for help from some good Samaritans. Samantha Nofsinger-Smith said she drove her friend home from work Thursday night. The two got out of the car so Samantha’s friend could show her the courtyard of this building, and that’s when she says they were attacked by three women. “The girls didn’t seem like they were coming to attack us, until, it’s just snapped, they just snapped and it was terrifying,” Samantha said. She said she didn’t think anything when a woman walked up to her and her friend Jamie asking for a cell phone and gas money. But it quickly became clear, there was something bad about to happen. “I heard Jamie scream and her hair I saw her head yank back. They grabbed her hair and they started punching her. She hit the floor really hard,” Samantha said. “They were kicking her, punching her.” That’s when Samantha says another woman picked up a large piece of concrete and threw it at her, knocking her to the ground. Rajanae M. Walker, 17, is currently charged with one count of accessory to robbery. According to court documents, she waived her Miranda Rights and spoke with police. She said she needed a car to see her 14-year-old brother, and “took one from a white lady near the Plaza.” - (Black-on-white) |
