1 arrested, police search for 2 others after day-long crime spree - White female pistol-whipped and robbed March 27, 2014 - ATLANTA — An armed robbery spree that spanned three counties and lasted more than six hours came to an end Wednesday afternoon after police arrested a man considered to be a dangerous gang member. Two other suspects are still on the loose. A (White) mother of two came face to face with Brian Kennedy when he pistol whipped her and robbed. She said she thought he was going to kill her. "'I'm about to die,’ and that's what I thought," the woman said. The woman said she was still shaken up and emotional after being robbed of her purse and struck across the face with the gun. She said she literally looked down the barrel of a gun. "It’s a scary feeling to think that just for $15 you might not see the rest of your family," the woman said. Police think the man who put that fear in her is Kennedy. He was taken into custody by U.S. marshals Thursday. Police said that Kennedy went on a day-long crime spree with two other men, including robbing three people at gunpoint, after stealing a silver BMW from a DeKalb County gas station. U.S. marshals arrested Kennedy, who they say is a dangerous gang member suspected of rape, nearly a dozen carjackings, as many as six armed robberies. - (Black-on-white) |

Suspected serial rapist convicted in 1 of 3 rapes Mar 28, 2014 - MEMPHIS, TN - - A man suspected of being a serial rapist has been convicted in the rape of a woman who nearly lost her finger during the attack. DNA tests linked him to the crime that happened in August 2012. He still faces two additional rape trials. Michael Richardson, 35, of Rossville, denied knowing his victim, but DNA from her rape kit identified him as the attacker. The victim in the August 2012 rape said Richardson picked her up in the Jackson area and drove her to East Shelby County where he forced her to have sex with him. When she tried to fight him off, he bit her finger, causing a cut that required stitches to close. He robbed her of $27 and forced her out of the car before driving away. Richardson's DNA links him to two other rapes that happened in July and October of 2012. Both of these rapes happened in a similar fashion to the one in which he was just convicted. I-80 Rapist Victim Convinced North Sacramento Subway Attacker Is Same Black March 29, 2014 - SACRAMENTO COUNTY — Investigators are looking to see if a Sacramento man accused of tying up and sexually assaulting a co-worker at a North Sacramento Subway is the Interstate 80 serial rapist. Kenneth Anderson, 22, was arrested on Friday by Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies. One look at a picture of Anderson, and a woman was attacked in September by a man believed to be the Interstate 80 rapist has little doubt he’s the same man. “You’ll never forget a face like that,” she said. She was beaten and raped as she walked to work at 4:30 a.m. Seven months later, the fear that her attacker is still on the loose may be coming to an end. “It’s just a feeling that you get when you’ve been raped once, you’ve been raped by somebody, it’s just in your guy, like when you see that person, you just know that’s him,” she said. Hers was the first in a series of sexual assaults in the North Sacramento area, all happen within a four-mile radius near Interstate 80 and Watt Avenue. - (Norcal) |

Louis Till (1922 - July 2, 1945) was an American soldier and convicted rapist and murderer. He is best known as the father of Emmett Louis Till, whose murder in 1955 at the age of fourteen galvanized the African-American civil rights movement. A soldier during World War II, Louis Till was executed by the U.S. Army in 1945 after being found guilty of murder and rape. 'Run ... kick ... punch': Little (White) girl thwarts abduction attempt by black man PARKLAND, Wash. - A 6-year-old Parkland girl is safe today because of her smart, quick actions when two men tried to kidnap her in broad daylight in her own neighborhood. The drama unfolded Wednesday as the little girl, Savanna Norman, was walking home after playing and jumping on the trampoline at the home of her friend, 9-year-old Raquelle Pittenger, who lives right across the street. "I looked both ways, and there was no one coming but … then I went halfway across the street, two guys came out of nowhere," Savanna says. And what happened next is every parent's nightmare. "They grabbed me," says Savanna. But Savanna's smart moves made her mom very proud. "Run ... and kick ... and punch," says the little girl. "What's the No. 1 thing you did that got everybody's attention around the whole neighborhood?" asks Savanna's mom, Amy Norman. "I kicked him," says Savanna. "I screamed loud." This 6-year-old knows "stranger danger" well. "'Cause mommy teaches me," she says. Amy saw the attempted kidnapping from her front window, and dashed out the door. "My heart was pounding," she says. Meanwhile, her 9-year-old friend Raquelle watched from steps away. "It made me feel scared and terrible," she says. It was a dangerous situation - derailed by a smart little girl who remembered the right thing to do. "Very proud," says her mom. "What happened ... was very scary for all of us." Now the Normans are considering moving from their neighborhood - or at the very least putting a fence up around their house. The prime suspect, Jakeel Rashon Mason, was arrested and booked into the Pierce County Jail for investigation of unlawful imprisonment. He is being held on $150,000 bail. - (Black-on-white) |

Family speaks about Boyd murder case Although Katharina Lawn likely already knew, her daughters on Friday headed to the cemetery to visit their mother, and tell her that the man who killed her nearly seven years ago was finally convicted. A state Supreme Court jury found Darrell Boyd, 49, guilty in the brutal slaying of Lawn, his former neighbor, inside her apartment on April 20, 2007. Lawn's daughters - Tammy Pierson, April Northern and Holly Stevens, who both live in Texas - said they were "extremely happy" to hear jurors convict Boyd of second-degree murder. "It's been seven years," Northern said. "Unfortunately my mom wasn't (in court) to speak, but everyone was able to speak for her. We're grateful and feel like justice was served." Boyd, she said, won't be on the streets or able to hurt anyone else. Boyd fatally beat and strangled Lawn, 54, inside her apartment and set furniture on fire in an effort to conceal the crime, according to Assistant District Attorney Brian Green. White Temple Student Assaulted In Broad Daylight Speaks Out PHILADELPHIA — Three Temple University students were just minding their own business Wednesday when they were randomly attacked on Broad Street. Fortunately, one of the women was aware enough to realize trouble was headed her way, and she narrowly escaped a brutal attack. “He yelled at me that he was going to punch my face before he actually did it. So, thank God I kind of looked up and saw him coming,” Temple student Breland Moore said. Moore is a senior at Temple University, just 43 days away from graduation. She thought she’d made it all four years without incident, but that all changed at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. “So, I ducked and tried to run away as fast as I could,” Moore said. As rush hour traffic whizzed by, other students weren’t so lucky. The University says the man made his way south, down Broad Street and attacked two more women. The one girl was spit in the face. The other girl was knocked down and the suspect shoved her in the side of the building. |

Black Man Tries to Kidnap 10-Year-Old Girl, Stopped When Students Throw Rocks at Him A man’s attempt to kidnap a 10-year-old girl on Feb. 24 was stopped by a group of students who witnessed the abduction happening and threw rocks at the would-be-kidnapper. Tyrone Ferguson, 36, was reportedly pulling the young girl away by her hair when the other students interfered. The 10-year-old girl and her eight-year-old brother were walking to Mary McLeod Bethune School in North Philadelphia when Ferguson, wearing all black clothing, black gloves, and a black ski mask, is said to have approached them. He allegedly told the children to “come here,” and grabbed the boy’s backpack. The boy’s sister then rushed over and freed him, at which point Ferguson reportedly grabbed the girl’s hair and pulled her towards him. “Ultimately that male let go of the young male child and then attacked the female and tried to take her…as well,” said Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit Capt. John Darby. The suspect was knocked down when other children began throwing rocks at him. The suspect then fled, and the girl escaped from his hold. |

Jury hung in trial of former FedEx employee accused of rape, exposing HIV MEMPHIS, TN - - An accused serial rapist's first trial ended with a hung jury. The suspect was identified, in part, by the fuzzy dice hanging from his rear-view mirror, but some wonder if his alleged victims are really the ones on trial. Deborah Clubb of the Memphis Area Women's Council says rape victim stories are often doubted in court. "It's just a really difficult topic and a lot of people are predisposed not to believe that anything happened," said Clubb. "So they're really, really hard to prosecute successfully." She points to the mistrial Thursday in the aggravated rape case of former FedEx employee Quantez Person. It is the first of at least five trials for rape he is facing. "To imagine that he is suspected and identified by other victims, and he's not yet convicted is a terrifying thing," said Clubb. |

Naked black in cowboy hat enters Georgia home Police say a man was arrested after breaking into a home while wearing nothing but a cowboy hat in Johns Creek, Ga., on Monday. "They're like, what was he wearing? And I'm like, absolutely nothing... a cowboy hat," homeowner Cori Davenport said about the call she made to 911. She knew something was wrong after she heard her daughter scream in their home. Davenport came downstairs and found Ashdon Gibbs in her kitchen — completely in the buff. "Our garage was up, he came in through the garage and she was in the kitchen. He just walked in," she said. Police say he tried to steal a motorcycle from their driveway before coming inside, and the Davenport's surveillance cameras caught the whole thing. But that was just the end of Gibbs' day. Police say his alleged crime spree started when he stole a car Monday morning. It gets weirder from there. "The subject had driven a stolen vehicle that he had stolen from Decatur, burglarized two homes within the Prestwick subdivision and at some point took off all of his clothes," Lt. Byers said. "In one of the houses that he broke in to, he did consume a beer while he made himself a meal and watched baseball on their TV," said Byers. - (Black-on-white) |
Black man who murdered White University of Akron co-ed denied parole AKRON, OH - Summit County Prosecuting Attorney Sherri Bevan Walsh announced Friday the Ohio Adult Parole Board denied the parole of Victor Logan.
