Black Robbery Suspect Charged With Murder LAKEPORT, Calif. - Three young black men break into a white man's home in rural Northern California. The homeowner shoots two of them to death , but it's the surviving black man who is charged with murder. In a case that has brought cries of racism from civil rights groups, Renato Hughes Jr., 22, was charged by prosecutors in this overwhelmingly white county under a rarely invoked legal doctrine that could make him responsible for the bloodshed. "It was pandemonium" inside the house that night, District Attorney Jon Hopkins said. Hughes was responsible for "setting the whole thing in motion by his actions and the actions of his accomplices." Prosecutors said homeowner Shannon Edmonds opened fire Dec. 7 after three young men rampaged through the Clearlake house demanding marijuana and brutally beat his stepson. Home Invasion by Blacks Leaves One White Man Dead Thirty-year-old Shawn Bisbee of North Little Rock, and his stepfather, 53-year-old David Rogers, were both transported to local hospitals. Bisbee died a short time later. Rogers remains hospitalized in stable condition. Police say two black male suspects were seen running from the area around the time of the incident. Dreadlocked black told jurors the men were yelling racial epithets at him - 'dreadlocks' O.J. jury  A jury deliberated about 12 hours over two before acquitting Christopher Davis of 17 criminal charges and deadlocking on seven more. Davis, 35, was taken back to prison, where he has been held on bail since his arrest. Davis was charged with stabbing three people at an underage drinking party at a home. He claimed he pulled out his pocket knife and began making slashing motions only after he was attacked by a group of young men. The Supreme Court has ruled it unconstitutional and deemed it "cruel and unusual punishment." when Gregory Thompson was put on trial for murder 22 years ago, his lawyers did not raise insanity as a defense. He confessed, was convicted and sentenced to death for killing Brenda Lane. She was 28 years old, well-liked in her community and she had been married just a few months.
Brenda Lane was a newlywed on the cusp of motherhood when she encountered Greg Thompson at a Shelbyville Wal-Mart. The facts of what happened on New Year's Day in 1985 have never been in dispute. Thompson and his girlfriend, a juvenile, wanted to get from Tennessee to Georgia, so they kidnapped Brenda Lane, stole her car and then drove around for an hour and a half on remote country roads, as Thompson searched for a place to kill her. They stopped along a rural country road near a field. Black Suspect in Murder of 71-year-old White Man at Farmer's Market Arrested  Within 30 minutes of surveillance video airing on television newscasts, Baton Rouge police say they got the tips they needed to make an arrest in the murder of an elderly security guard. The murder happened at Pete's Farmer's Market. Derrick Williams, 25, was charged with First Degree Murder and Armed Robbery. "He is done, no more," said the Baton Rouge Police Chief. The grainy surveillance video released by police shows a gunman arguing with 71-year-old security guard Alfred Mequet. The gunman demands money and attempts to open two cash registers. Schizo Negro raped blonde woman patient in hospital bed FORT WORTH A woman assaulted inside a North Texas hospital says there wasn't enough done to protect her from a dangerous patient. Now, she's suing Huguley Memorial Medical Center. The action is the second such case and lawsuit against the health care facility. In a 2003 case, a male nurse raped an elderly stroke patient. The current case happened in a mental health ward of the hospital. The attack happened because hospital workers put a man, with a history of behavior and mental health problems, in a room next to a heavily sedated woman. "He entered her room wearing nothing but a t-shirt." Evidence shows Perry Brown carefully arranged his bed making it look like he was asleep. Then, he snuck into the blonde haired woman's room next door. Brown was a 60-year-old schizophrenic who had been psychotic in the past. He was also a drug abuser and a convicted felon.
