Black Racist Gunman Possibly on Loose in Va.  RICHMOND, Va. — Three people were shot and killed, including two shopkeepers who were gunned down in front of horrified customers by a man who yelled racist comments. The suspect was identified as Daniel Andrew Bowler from surveillance photographs. About 6:50 p.m, police said, they received a call that a gunman had shot someone at the public housing complex. Authorities found Derrick Conner, 29, a black man, lying dead on the street.
Ten minutes later, the gunman entered the James Food Store, a convenience store about three miles from the housing complex. After shouting racist comments at employee Abdulrahman Aldhabhani, 43, the man shot and killed him in front of customers, police said. Police said the gunman took cash and other items before walking next door to Poly Cleaners, where he yelled racist comments at the owner, Jong Doh, 39, before shooting him in front of witnesses. - (Crusader) |
7-year-old boy sexually assaulted at Coral Springs gym CORAL SPRINGS -- A 7-year-old boy was homosexually assaulted by a 23-year-old man in the Coral Springs Gymnasium, 2501 Coral Springs Drive, Wednesday afternoon, police said a day later Kingsley Beauchamp was arrested on one count of sexual battery on a victim under the age of 12. Man Charged With Raping 12-Year-Old Girl A Kansas City man has been arrested and charged with raping a 12-year-old girl, police said Wednesday. George C. Jones, 38, is charged with forcible rape and five other felony counts. According to court documents, the girl, who is a relative of Jones, went with him to his apartment at 3409 Indiana Ave. Monday night after attending a barbecue. The girl told police she fell asleep on Jones' bed while watching television. She said she woke up when Jones started touching her inappropriately. Suspect told friend of Oceanfront slayings, document says * Homicide victims apparently innocent bystanders to domestic dispute
    The suspect in Saturday’s triple slaying at the Oceanfront confessed to a friend that he killed the 24-year-old mother of his daughter and “shot other people,” according to a court affidavit. Marcus Valentino Garrett was arguing with the mother of his daughter. They say that's when he began shooting, killing her, Kusa, and another man. Nanny Murder Suspect Ruled Competent For Rape Trial Fla. -- A man accused of killing a South Florida nanny has been found competent to stand trial in the rape of a 14-year-old Coral Springs girl. Jerry Wiggins is accused of raping the 14-year-old months before he allegedly kidnapped, raped and murdered nanny Monica Rivera-Veldizen. Investigators said DNA from the Charlotte rape matched DNA in the murder of Rivera-Veldizen. She disappeared from a Boca Raton Publix supermarket on West Palmetto Park Road Jan. 2, 2004. Her body was found Jan. 5 in bushes a short distance from the home where she was living and working. - (Gman) |
Mom Charged With Not Preventing Rape Of Daughter  Michael Berger, of White Plains, and 19-year-old Gilberto Gonzalez are charged with two counts of rape and a mother is charged with accessory to the rapes. Authorities said the mother brought her 13-year-old daughter and girlfriends to White Plains where they met the two young men in the elevator. Gonzalez took the intoxicated 14-year-old into the bathroom and sexually assaulted her. Then Berger took the 13-year-old daughter into the hallway and sexually assaulted her. Tutoring Firm Plans Increased Supervision After Teacher's Arrest on sexual abuse charges  Fla. -- A tutoring company will change how it monitors after-school instructors after one was arrested on sexual abuse charges. Todd Walden, supplemental services director for Club Z!, said the company next year plans to have a supervisor onsite at schools. The change is the result of the arrest last month of 29-year-old Daniel Cliatt, who spent hours alone after school with students in a tutoring program at Endeavour Elementary.Daniel Cliatt had been sexually abusing the same 13-year-old boy four times a week - (Forum) |
Low-down private Juvenile Justice employee arrested on charges of soliciting a minor boy to have oral and anal sex The suspect, Damon Huddleston, 27, worked at the Juvenile Justice Center as an employee of Securicor, the private company that operates the facility. Huddleston drove by the home of the 16-year-old victim, recognized him as a former detainee and engaged him in conversation. During the conversation, Huddleston, who was in uniform on his way to work, gave the boy a cigarette and the two exchanged telephone numbers. A University of South Carolina law school student was shot to death Saturday night in Virginia. 25-year-old David Kusa was killed in Virginia Beach. Police say the shooting started when 27-year-old Marcus Valentino Garrett was arguing with the mother of his daughter. They say that's when he began shooting, killing her, Kusa, and another man. Accused Trooper Shooter Claims Temporary Insanity - State Trooper Shot 9 Times During Weekend Traffic Stop  Mo. -- A man charged with shooting a state trooper over the weekend said he's sorry for what he did -- and that he was temporarily insane when he fired the shots. Tommy R. Rollins is accused of shooting trooper Brandon Brashear nine times early Saturday morning after the officer pulled him over in Lee's Summit. Brashear, who has been on the force for about two years, is hospitalized in serious but stable condition. Rollins is charged with first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and armed criminal action. He made a special court appearance Sunday in Kansas City on his 26th birthday. - (reader alert) |
Army Recruiter In Gainesville Charged With Rape Fla. -- A U.S. Army recruiter accused of raping a woman who was interested in joining the military remained in the Alachua County Jail on $50,000 bond. The arrest of Staff Sgt. George O. Kirkman, 40, came a day before the Army suspended recruiting efforts after reported excesses by recruiters trying to sign up soldiers. According to Gainesville police the 20-year-old woman said she had gone to Kirkman's apartment to take a recruiting exam on a computer. The two were reviewing the woman's test scores and sitting on Kirkman's bed when he raped her, according to an arrest report. - (sw44m) |
Miami Police Release Sketches In Attempted Abduction   Two men who reportedly tried to abduct a 17-year-old girl Wednesday are still on the loose. Police are hoping sketches of the two suspects will lead to their capture. Miami-Dade County police said the teen was at a bus stop in front of 495 N.W. 165th St. when the men drove up in a green Dodge Caravan and tried to force her inside the vehicle.

KC Rap Artist Fat Tone Shot, Killed In Las Vegas * Vegas Police Raid Home Searching For Three After Rapper Slaying A rap artist from Kansas City was gunned down and killed in Las Vegas, police said. Officials in Nevada identified the body of 24-year-old Anthony Watkins, known as Fat Tone in the world of hip hop, after he was found shot and killed early Monday. A security guard found the bodies of Watkins and Jermaine "Cowboy" Akins when he noticed a car parked with its lights on in a construction area. Authorities say Andre Dow, Tanisha Aaron and Jason Mathis are not suspects in the slayings.But they are known associates of Anthony "Fat Tone" Watkins and Jermaine "Cowboy" Akins.

Police Shoot Suspect In Walnut Hills  Cincinnati police say the suspect they shot early Thursday morning in Walnut Hills had raised a sawed-off shotgun toward an officer. Donta Williams, 27, was shot twice. He was last reported in stable condition and is expected to survive. Police say Williams' illegal weapon contained two live rounds. When Williams was ordered to drop the shotgun, he instead raised it toward Officer Longworth. Prom Shooting Suspect Arrested In Columbus A teenager was arrested in Columbus on Wednesday in connection with a shooting at a prom last weekend. Kevin L. Dotson, 18, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, illegal conveyance of a deadly weapon on school grounds, possession of crack cocaine and escape. Youngstown police detectives are also interested in questioning Dotson to determine if he has information on who was responsible for the shooting at the school, which left him and a girl wounded. - (Gman)

Shooting suspect has violent past CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged with fatally shooting his 38-year-old live-in girlfriend in their southeast Charlotte home early Thursday morning. Police were called to the scene after Stanford Jones allegedly shot the woman, ran from his house and told a neighbor what he had done. A woman just out of prison stabbed two shoppers in an upscale department store  before an off-duty FBI agent arrested her, authorities said. The woman's arsenal allegedly included two butcher knives taped together to form a double-bladed weapon. One of the women Antoinette Starks is accused of injuring in the apparently random attacks Wednesday night was released from a hospital Thursday, while the other was in stable condition, police said. Teenage girl arrested for making sex tape - Accused recording underage girl with three men  17-year-old Albany High School student has been arrested for allegedly making a sex tape with an underage girl. Police say Shakaria Tune videotaped a 14-year-old girl having sex with three men last month. She is facing several charges, including promoting sexual performance with a child, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child. Religion: Preacher Gets 10 Years Of Probation, Fine For Sex Crime A former San Antonio preacher was sentenced to 10 years of probation and a $10,000 fine for raping a 15-year-old girl. A jury found Duane Hammons, 47, guilty of four counts of sexual assault and two counts of indecency with a child.
