 Three members of a Somali sex gang who trafficked, raped and subjected vulnerable British schoolgirls to 'violent and horrible' abuse have been jailed for 32 years. Girls as young as 14 were plied with drugs and alcohol before being 'pestered again and again' for sex by the men who operated in inner city Bristol. Bristol Crown Court heard the rapes became 'routine' and the men regarded some of the victims, who cannot be named for legal reasons, as 'cheap and easy'. Seven Somali men went on trial at the beginning of September accused of 46 charges in connection with the sex ring, who preyed on girls from a range of different backgrounds and ethnicities. Three of the men - Sakariya Sheikh, 23, Mohammed Dahir, 24, and Abdirashid Abdulahi, 23 – have now been convicted of 14 charges, including trafficking, sexual assault and rape. Sheikh was jailed for 16 years after being found guilty of three sexual assaults, two counts of trafficking for sexual exploitation, rape and supplying a class B drug. Man man extradited from US found guilty of eight counts of rape A US citizen who was extradited to the UK to stand trial has been found guilty of a violent rape he committed 20 years ago. Pierre Antoine Bate, 42,, of Maricopa Drive, Santa Barbara broke in and carried out a violent and sustained attack on a woman in her south London home. During the early hours of July 22 1996 the victim awoke in her Thornton Heath home to find Bate in her bedroom staring at her. He told her that a friend of his was with her children in the room next door, and then placed his arm across her throat and raped and indecently assaulted her several times for more than an hour and a half, when he fled the scene and the victim was able to call police. Detectives investigating the crime managed to recover a partial DNA profile, but at that time it was not enough to identify a suspect. However, in 2011, a forensic review of the investigation was conducted, and material taken at the time of the original investigation was examined using enhanced DNA techniques. - (UK) |

Leeds crown court heard how 24-year-old Lewis Pierre wore steel-capped boots when he carried out a “sustained and forceful” attack on Pionko three days before Christmas last year in the UK’s first managed red-light district, in the Holbeck area of the city. The scheme introduced by Leeds city council in 2014 allows sex workers to operate in a designated area on the edge of the city centre between 7pm and 7am without fear of being arrested. Following the verdict, a community safety partnership spokesman said the project was under review. Pierre was captured on CCTV walking towards an area of wasteland with Pionko at around 10.40pm, before being spotted leaving the scene alone less than five minutes later. Blood matching Pionko’s was later discovered on a pair of steel-capped boots and a cardigan found at Pierre’s home. Although Pierre admitted robbery and manslaughter, he denied murder, but the jury of 10 women and two men took less than two hours to find Pierre guilty of murder on Monday.Pionko, who had moved to the UK from Łódź in Poland 10 months previously, was found lying face down and lifeless by her housemate Karolina Znajda, who was also a sex worker. Pionko had suffered serious injuries to her face, head, neck and body. Znajda described her friend’s face as having been “massacred” and the postmortem concluded that Pionko had died within 30 minutes of the attack. Pierre, who was working as an assistant to a heavy goods driver, bought a meal of kebab meat and chips, four cans of drink and cigarettes with the £80 he stole from Pionko. UK: (White) Woman escaped jealous (black) ex-boyfriend who raped and beat her in horrifying EIGHT-DAY ordeal   A woman who was raped and beaten by her former partner during an eight-day ordeal is urging other victims of domestic violence to seek help before it is too late. Karen Hanna, 40, from Chorley, Lancashire, thought she was going to die at the hands of Anthony Phillips, who she was previously in a relationship with. For eight days he violently attacked Karen leaving her with 58 separate injuries after he accused her of sleeping with other men. She was finally able to flee the ordeal when bodybuilder Phillips, now 40, fell asleep. Her former partner was arrested and eventually jailed for life. UK: WATCH: Hunt for (black) thug who battered cowering (White) woman in pub beer garden A VICIOUS thug battered a young woman before trying to rip her clothes off as she tried to leave a pub garden. Chilling CCTV footage has been released showing the moment the vile attacker cornered the helpless 27-year-old woman and punched her repeatedly in the sickening early morning assault. The violent man had met the unsuspecting woman in Westminster, central London, before they went to a pub in Brick Lane, east London. As the young woman decided to leave the empty garden, the man flipped. He forces the woman into a corner as she cowers by the large black gates on the garden. The brave woman tried to push the yob away but she only incensed the man, who lashes out and tries to tear her clothes off. Eventually the women manages to fight back and pushes her attacker away before running away down Brick Lane. Thankfully the woman only suffered minor injuries. Police have now released footage of the assault to track down the attacker. The man was described as black and slim with short hair. He wore a blue cap, grey zipped hooded top, jeans and black trainers. London: (less than worthless black) sentenced to life for 'senseless' murder of (White) Alan Cartwright  A man has been sentenced to life for murdering a 15-year-old cyclist during an attempt to steal his bike. Joshua Williams, 18, was part of a group which attacked Alan Cartwright as he rode along Caledonian Road, Islington, in February. In sentencing at the Old Bailey, Judge Rebecca Poulet QC described the crime as "gratuitous and senseless" and "motivated by acquisitive greed". Williams was told he would serve a minimum of 21 years. He had denied murder, but was found to have lashed out at Alan, delivering a single stab wound. He had claimed to be at a youth club at the time of the attack, but jurors rejected his explanation. Judge Poulet said the killing "rightly horrified and dismayed the public" and acknowledged a statement from Alan's mother, Michelle Watson, in which she had laid bare the "heartbreak" felt by the whole family. Dora Matthews, 43, was heard screaming 'let me go' moments before she plummeted to the pavement from the living room window of the flat in Wood Green, north London. Long-term partner David Douglas, 44, was caught on CCTV a few minutes later fleeing the building barefoot and clutching a can of lager. The couple had a turbulent relationship and had been arguing in the early hours of the morning shortly before Ms Matthews was killed, a court heard. Douglas denied murder but was found guilty by a jury after nearly ten hours of deliberation. He now faces a lengthy jail sentence or even life in prison. Prosecutor Mark Dennis QC said the victim was heard screaming before she dropped from a 'comparatively small' window in the living room of Douglas' 14th floor flat. She had been stabbed three times and strangled. UK: Police watchdog investigates 19 incidents linked to murderer who killed mother-of-four then stayed the night because he'd missed his last bus   The police watchdog is investigating how the West Midlands force responded to 19 incidents concerning a mother-of-four and the man later convicted of murdering her. The Independent Police Complaints Commission is looking into a string of offences allegedly committed by Marcus Musgrove on Jacqueline Oakes, 51, before he finally battered her to death in January last year. It said Musgrove was accused of attacking and stealing from Miss Oakes, among other crimes, over a nine-month period from April 2013. IPCC Commissioner Derrick Campbell said: 'Our investigation is looking into how police handled the incidents and whether they identified and managed correctly risks to Jacqueline Oakes as a vulnerable woman.' Musgrove was jailed for life, and ordered to serve at least 18 years, after he was unanimously convicted of murder at Birmingham Crown Court last July. His trial heard he befriended the victim in April 2013 but quickly grew violent and controlling. Miss Oakes made a number of complaints to police but later withdrew them. Musgrove killed her at her flat in Edgbaston, Birmingham, after he was arrested over an earlier attack on her. He callously spent the night at the address because he had missed his last bus home. The 40-year-old, of Aston, showed no remorse during his two-week trial and tried to blame Miss Oakes by claiming she had been violent towards him. Passing sentence, Mr Justice Timothy King told him: 'This was a dreadful murder. Mother-of-two Anita Whittaker, 52, who worked as an Operational Support Grade, exchanged love letters and flirtatious texts with Kazadi Kongolo, 35, jailed in 1999 for stabbing a teenager to death. Their affair was uncovered when jailers at Wormwood Scrubs searched Kongolo’s cell and discovered he was hiding a mobile phone in his bottom. Whittaker’s number was on the phone, along with text messages the pair had exchanged, Isleworth crown court heard. Kongolo’s included “Sexy Queen”, while his lover often referred to the prisoner as “Baby Cake”. Prosecuting Rav Johal said Whittaker then began trying to remove her love letters to Kongolo from his cell. The court heard Whittaker took advantage of her position in the jail workshop to enjoy physical contact with Zaire-born Kongolo, progressing from kissing and cuddling to oral sex. - (UK) |

Lamin Touray, 36, sexually assaulted a woman in the entrance to her flat after following her home in the Leeds area having carried out a similar sex assault on a student in Newport in 2009. It was following his latest attack in December 2013 that he was arrested and brought to justice. He had forced his victim to the ground and attempted to rape her in a car park after following her home from a Christmas party in Leeds. Following his arrest, the Gambian national gave a false name and date of birth to police. He has now been handed a 12-year prison sentence with an extended licence of four years.

Black killer on the run for five years - tracked down in Nigeria A Dulwich man has been jailed for life for the murder of a children’s television star. Jeffrey Okafor fled the country after stabbing nineteen-year-old Carl Beatson-Asiedu in a fight in Vauxhall in 2009. A five year international manhunt traced Okafor to Nigeria, where a £10,000 bounty was put out on his head. The jury at Woolwich Crown Court heard how in the early hours of Saturday, August 1 that year Carl, who appeared in CBBC series, M.I. High, died in the street after being stabbed in the heart. Also known as DJ Charmz, Carl had just played a set at the Club Life nightclub in Goding Street, Kennington and was walking to his car with a group of friends. A group of men approached them, who Carl and his friends had had some trouble with in the past. A fight broke out and Carl was separated from his friends and fatally stabbed by Jeffrey Okafor. - (UK) |

Black African Pastor Arrested Over His Pregnant White British Wife’s Death A Ghanaian pastor, Prophet Eric Isaiah Adusah, domiciled in the United Kingdom (UK), has been arrested in connection with the death of his pregnant British wife, Charmaine Speirs, which occurred in Koforidua last week. The couple, who are pastors of Global Light Revival Ministries with branches in London, Manchester and Edinburg – all in the UK – had travelled to Ghana to attend a church programme. The suspect left the hotel at the dawn of 17th March and reportedly gave a warning at the front desk that his British wife did not like to be disturbed and so the attendants should attend to her only when she called them for help. However, for three days – Wednesday 18th to Friday 20th March – attendants at the facility tried fruitlessly to reach her. They reportedly became alarmed because her check out date was due that Friday. Not getting any response from her, management decided to use a spare key to open the door to her room to find out whether or not the occupant was still in. The guest, who was said to be three months pregnant, was allegedly found dead in the bath tub, lying prostrate with a white towel wrapped around her, almost in a decomposed state. Katie Menham, 25, from Malmesbury, Wiltshire, has exchanged 'dozens' of letters with convicted killer Julius Bradford, 31, since January – and is now fighting to get him a retrial so they can be together. Bradford has been on death row in High Desert State Prison, Nevada, since 2004 - after he was found guilty of first-degree murder and attempted robbery.
