Deadly (black-on-White) Shooting Outside Bar in Pittston
Stephen SpencerChristopher WilliamsPITTSTON -- A man is dead after a shooting outside a bar in Pittston. Neighbors were already worried about the rowdiness outside the bar, but now their concerns are only growing. Police say a handshake refusal led to the deadly shooting outside of Saints and Sinners Irish Pub on Center Street just after 1 a.m. Sunday. When officers arrived on scene, the alleged shooter still held the gun in his right hand. According to police, when officers ordered him to drop the weapon, he said, "Here is the gun. I shot him." Officers arrested Stephen Spencer, 30, and charged him with criminal homicide, simple assault, and terroristic threats. The coroner identified the victim as Christopher Williams, 32, of Pittston. Neighbors have complained about loud noises coming from the bar, but they were shocked to learn someone was killed. "A shooting you never suspect it. There's fights and stuff but not a shooting," said Joyce Cook of Pittston. Police say the violence started inside the bar after a witness refused to shake Spencer's hand. According to court papers, that unidentified witness says they left the bar and started to walk home. They saw Spencer reach into his pants, grab a gun, and fire. Williams was rushed to Geisinger Wyoming Valley where he died. - (Black-on-white)

Charges dropped against black accused of strangling his (White) calculus tutor to death - family says state messed up
Joni Cunningham DonleyDavid Grant WEST PALM BEACH The Broward County State Attorney’s Office dropped its manslaughter charge Friday against Joni Donley, a Riviera Beach man accused of strangling his calculus tutor, after prosecutors failed to secure the testimony of the key witness to the 2012 homicide before he moved back to his home country. According to police reports, Donley and his tutor, David Grant of West Palm Beach, had agreed to meet for an evening math session at a Davie Dunkin’ Donuts on Jan. 17, 2012, as Donley, then 28, had a Calculus 2 test scheduled at Broward College the following day. Shortly after midnight they got into an argument, which turned into a physical fight just outside the shop.

A witness saw Donley kick the 49-year-old Grant in the neck, jump on him, strangle him and drive off, police said. Another witness took down Donley’s license plate number as Donley drove off. Police using that plate number located Donley within hours, and found his bloody shirt. Left alone in an interview room after his arrest, Donley was heard saying to himself, aloud: “You killed somebody, Jon. How could you? How could you have done that? Oh, my God, I took a life … This guy’s dead for nothing, for nothing, Jon.”
He told police he was set off by Grant calling him a racial slur during the argument, which witnesses confirmed. The key witness to the fight was deposed by defense attorneys but prosecutors neither attended nor sent notification that the testimony should be preserved for their use, according to Grant’s sister, Carol Field, who spoke at Friday’s hearing before Judge Lisa Porter. If prosecutors read the transcribed copy they were sent of that interview, they would have seen that witness Ahmad Alsuvae stated he planned to return to Saudi Arabia after completing his studies, said Field, a civil law attorney.

Field said Assistant State Attorney Vegina Hawkins told her and her husband “point-blank” about three months ago that prosecutors felt obliged to drop the case because of their inability to use the deposition or get hold of the witness for the trial. In fact the Hawkins’ close-out memorandum on the case said that Grant weighed about 380 pounds and had partially clogged arteries, making the prosecution’s case vulnerable to defense claims that Grant died of a heart attack, not strangulation.
“The state has no competent evidence to rebut the argument that when Donley is called a (derogatory name for black), he was suddenly provoked to turn and strike Mr. Grant. The witnesses all stated that Donley was walking away, and suddenly the combat ensues, with Grant attempting to place Donley in a bear hug. By all accounts, no weapon was used, and the fact that Donley held Grant for approximately 15 seconds does not rise to the level of a cruel and unusual manner.”
Without the one witness who saw the whole fight, and the legal reality that the death could by law be construed as accidental, the memo said, “It has become abundantly clear that there is no likelihood of successful prosecution, and the state cannot pursue the charges set forth.” Friday’s hearing closing the case took just a few minutes, most of that time allotted to Field, who spoke of the State Attorney’s Office’s mistakes and of her loss of faith in a justice system that was letting her brother’s killer go free despite abundant evidence against him.
“They did not fulfill their obligation to the family or the public,” she said afterward. Donley did not speak at the hearing and declined comment. “David was a good man. He loved math and he loved his students,” Field said. “Joni physically attacked him and left him face down, dead in the parking lot, like a dog. He drove away. He didn’t turn himself in. He was picked up with blood on his shirt. In his own words, he killed him for nothing. - (Black-on-white)

Helen Benjamin Becky LigonHOUSTON, Texas -- A Houston-area woman is out of the hospital after she was stabbed in the back Thursday night on a METRO bus. Robin ProctorImani CookOliver PhillipsLas Vegas, Nevada — A 21-year-old woman was ordered to serve 22 years to life behind bars for her role in a brutal attack on an 85-year-old man. Robin Proctor pleaded guilty in April to first-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon for the January 2016 death of Oliver Phillips. Authorities said Proctor and Imani Cook, 22, planned a November attack in advance, using text messages to discuss several different ways to kill Phillips. Phillips met Proctor through an escort service, when he sought companionship, not sex, according to his daughter and a police report. A few months before the attack, he started helping the woman and her infant daughter, welcoming them on occasion into his Henderson home, his daughter said. Proctor laid Phillips down on his bed the night of Nov. 22, 2015, a police report said, and signaled for Cook to enter. Proctor started choking him, but couldn’t kill him, so Cook helped, prosecutor Jacqueline Bluth said. Phillips was beaten with a lamp and dumbbells, which the prosecutor called a “horrific and tragic way to die.” Phillips was left to die in the 192 Kings Canyon Court home, and was discovered the next day still alive. The prosecutor said bloodstains throughout the home show he fought the women or struggled after they left. He died in January 2016. Cook and Proctor were arrested Nov. 24, 2015, the report said. Cook has since been found incompetent to stand trial and is being held in a mental health facility. - (Black-on-white)

Judge denies bond reduction in vehicular homicide case - drunk black man slaughtered White man
Albert WilliamsByron C. AcostaA 62-year-old man accused of vehicular homicide in April is still in jail after a judge denied his request to reduce his $100,000 bond today. Investigators suspect Albert Williams of Montegut was intoxicated on the night of April 17 when he drove onto the shoulder of La. 24 near the Houma-Terrebonne Airport and stuck and killed 43-year-old Houma pedestrian Bryon Acosta, State Police said. Williams was driving a 2007 Dodge Caliber south near Clendenning Road about 9 p.m. when he struck Acosta, who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Williams was booked into the Terrebonne Parish jail on charges of vehicular homicide and improper lane use. A breath test indicated Williams was over the legal limit for alcohol, according to State Police. Williams’ public defender Ella Kliebert requested a bond reduction, citing her client’s lack of criminal history and ability to pay. Assistant District Attorney Chris Erny contended the bond was set at $100,000 due to the severity of the crime and for public safety concerns. “He was driving out by the airbase and hit and killed a pedestrian,” Erny said. “There was some pretty damning evidence.” If found guilty, Williams could be sentenced up to 30 years, Erny said. - (Black-on-white)

Justin Akeen Fedrick and Keon Dellshai GordonRodney Devon Cooperrape victimTwo men are accused of kidnapping and sexually battering a woman last week in Clermont to “teach her a lesson” about dating black men, according to a police report. Clermont Police are searching for Justin Akeen Fedrick, 27, and Keon Dellshai Gordon, 26, in connection with a rape during the early morning hours of June 22. The victim said she was “just hanging out with friends” at a home in the 1000 block of Disston Avenue when a friend, Rodney “Coop” Cooper, pushed her inside the home and into a bedroom. That’s when Cooper locked the bedroom door and stood guard, said Clermont Police spokesman Sgt. Shane Strickland. Fedrick and Gordon are accused of then sexually battering the woman. The woman said she “attempted to fight them, but they were too strong.” The men told her, “We’re going to teach you a lesson about dating a black man and white [women] don’t mean [expletive] in this town.” When they were finished, the men told the victim they would “make it ten times worse next time” if she went to the police. The victim then ran from the home, cutting through backyards “because she was afraid they would come after her.” Her boyfriend then called police after receiving a text from the victim shortly before 3 a.m. stating she was “bleeding and limping somewhere in the neighborhood.” He called a second time after having heard from the woman again, and deputies found her. Police arrested Cooper, 32, of Clermont, the following day on a charge of kidnapping. Police have issued warrants for the arrests of Fedrick and Gordon, Strickland said. Both are considered armed and dangerous, and have histories of violence. - (Black-on-white)

'Scared to the point of death': Denied aid during armed robbery, (White) man's heart fails, police say - despicable black scum prevented 911 for victim
suspectsuspectChrist Edward Kneubuehl A 56-year-old man who was working on an after-hours remodeling project at a Culver’s restaurant on the South Side died early Tuesday morning of an apparent heart attack after two armed men robbed the restaurant and prevented the man’s co-workers from seeking help, Madison police said. “There was a certain vileness, a certain despicability about the whole thing because ... you had an instance where the victim was scared to the point of death,” Police Chief Mike Koval said. The two armed and masked men entered the back of the restaurant around 3 a.m. and surprised four contractors who were working inside the restaurant at 2102 W. Beltline, Koval said. For about an hour, one of the men looked for and then opened the restaurant’s safe, taking the money while the other man kept a gun pointed at the victims, who were ordered to lie face down on the floor. But after the safe was opened — about 45 minutes after the robbers entered the restaurant — the 56-year-old victim became ill and it was apparent to others that he needed immediate medical help, Koval said. But the man holding his gun on them wouldn’t allow them to help their co-worker or call 911, Koval said. The victim was pronounced dead at the restaurant shortly after paramedics arrived. “(The robbers) allowed the man to languish and subsequently to die while they handed themselves the greater priority of getting into the safe and getting the filthy lucre, or what I call blood money, and then left,” Koval said. “It wasn’t until after they left that (the others) felt they had a sufficient margin of safety and were comfortable enough to call 911.” Police provided limited descriptions of the robbers. One was described as a black male in his 20s or 30s and about 6-feet 3-inches tall. The second, also a black male, was shorter and appeared to be in his 20s, DeSpain said. - (Black-on-white)

Christ Edward Kneubuehl (56), of Twin Lakes in Kenosha County, was working as a contractor at the Culver's located at 2102 W. Beltline Highway when two masked men entered the restaurant and held the four contractors at gunpoint while they targeted the restaurant's safe.     Officials: (Worthless black) Suspect used (White) deputy's gun to shoot him in face - "Robocop" talks him into surrendering
Nicory SpannAlex LadwigSACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Sacramento County sheriff's deputy remains at a hospital Wednesday after he was shot in the face by a gunman who used the deputy's own weapon in the shooting at a light rail station, the sheriff's department said. Deputy Alex Ladwig, a four-year veteran of the department, underwent surgery Tuesday night at a Sacramento hospital and was in stable condition with major structural facial injuries, according to officials. Sheriff's Sgt. Tony Turnbull said Ladwig was talking as he was being transported.
The initial investigation revealed Ladwig began talking with Nicory Marquis Spann, 27, of Sacramento, just before 6 p.m. at the Regional Transit light rail station near Watt Avenue and Interstate 80. Spann 'violently attacked' Ladwig and began fighting with him, Turnbull said. Spann then grabbed Ladwig's gun and fired two shots; one of them hit Ladwig in the face, according to Turnbull.
Spann ran into a nearby Red Roof Inn, which was subsequently surrounded by law enforcement. Guests were evacuated as officers set up a perimeter. Deputies then searched the motel room by room. Spann was found in a second floor room alcove, lying on the ground in fetal position, Turnbull said.
A sheriff's department robot was used to talk Spann into surrendering. He was taken into custody at 9:15 p.m., and the gun was recovered at the scene. Spann was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on a charge of attempted murder of a peace officer. He is ineligible for bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday. Some guests were in the building during the search and were asked to shelter in place until a deputy told them otherwise. Evacuated guests were allowed back inside a few hours after the shooting. Officers outside of the motel were barricaded behind their patrol vehicles and had their weapons drawn and pointed at the building as a precaution. - (Black-on-white)

(white female) Abuse survivor plans to escape Michigan, a state where the law won't protect her from her (black) ex-husband in prison
Kevin BeverlyNicole BeverlyNew paint will go on the walls at Nicole Beverly's Ypsilanti Township house in the coming weeks. She'll rip down the boards she nailed to the windows by the front door, too. Beverly put them up several years ago as a safety measure to ensure her abusive ex-husband couldn't break the glass and then reach inside to open the door. "When he was stalking us, we literally had to do anything we could to slow him down," she said. "We nailed a board over each of my side windows. I had to replace my basement windows with glass block because the windows were big enough for him to get in. My friend's partner installed the safety lights in the back on the outside of the shed. We had an alarm system installed.
And that somewhere, she hopes, will be a safe haven not only for her, but for her two sons. She’s being forced out of Michigan and into hiding by an ex-husband who, she says, is intent on killing her and by weak laws that fail to protect survivors like her. Kevin Beverly, 44, is serving out the end of his sentence on a 2012 aggravated stalking conviction involving his ex-wife. But even from prison, the threats have continued. Four times in four years, he allegedly tried to hire people to kill Nicole and their children from prison or threatened to kill them himself when he’s released. - (Black-on-white)

Abdulrahman Sameer NoorahFallon SmartFallon SmartA young Saudi national facing charges stemming from a fatal hit-and-run incident in Oregon in 2016 removed a court's monitoring device last week and fled. Abdulrahman Sameer Noorah, 21, was arrested last August and indicted for first-degree manslaughter, hit-and-run, reckless endangerment and reckless driving after allegedly killing 15-year-old Fallon Smart in Portland. However, on Sept. 11, 2016 – what would have marked Fallon’s 16th birthday – Noorah's $100,000 bond was posted by the consulate of Saudi Arabia, according to court records. Earlier this month, police say Noorah removed his monitoring device bracelet and his current whereabouts are now unknown. He is depicted as being Saudi Arabian, 150 pounds and 6 feet tall and was last seen near the Southeast 106th Avenue and Division of Portland. Investigators are said to be concerned that Noorah poses mental health issues and are offering a reward for information leading to his whereabouts.
Noorah, a Saudi national who had been in Oregon since 2014 and enrolled at Portland Community College, was awaiting trial on charges that he struck and killed the young teenage girl while speeding down Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard, before running and later returning to the scene. Her relatives have called the latest development in the case as having broken “(their) hearts again.” Shane Smart, Fallon's uncle, expressed his anger in a Facebook post. "From Day 1, our family objected to a bail because of things known about Abdulrahman Noorah that made us believe he was a flight risk," Shane Smart wrote on Facebook. "The deputy district attorney representing the state's case against Abdulrahman Noorah expressed our objection of allowing a bail and house arrest to the presiding Judge." - (Black-on-white)

(Black) Man Charged With Murder For Involvement With (White) Teen’s Shooting Death
Armajea Keyvon WarrensuspectsuspectAustin James Owen YoungMINNEAPOLIS – A New Hope man is charged with murder for his alleged involvement in a shooting last week that left a 17-year-old dead in north Minneapolis Armajea Keyvon Warren, 18, is charged with second-degree murder in the Tuesday night death of Austin Young, court documents filed in Hennepin County show. Police say Young, of Minneapolis, was found dead in the driver’s seat of an SUV near the intersection of 26th and Knox avenues. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. According a criminal complaint, a witness who was with Young at the time of the shooting told police it happened after two women they were with went off to buy marijuana in the area. The women left the SUV, the witness said, and returned with Warren and two other men. Warren entered the SUV’s backseat on the passenger side and pulled a gun on Young, demanding he hand over all his possessions. The witness, who was in the passenger seat, said he pushed Warren’s arm away so that the gun wasn’t pointing at Young. At that moment, one of the other men pulled out a handgun and shot Young in the head. Immediately after, Warren, the other men and the women fled the scene. The witness said he bent down and pushed on the accelerator in an attempt to drive away, but he crashed into nearby cars. The witness then ran off to report the shooting. Police say they met with Warren shortly after. The criminal complaint says he admitted to his involvement in the shooting, including pulling a gun on Young and trying to rob him. The man who shot Young was not identified in the criminal complaint. Police say they spoke with the women who witnessed the shooting, but added that they provided little information to officers. If convicted, Warren faces a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison. He remains in jail in lieu of an unconditional $1 million in bail. A community vigil in honor of Young is slated for Monday at 7 p.m. near where his body was found. - (Black-on-white)
