Alleged black ex-con killer of his (white) live-in girlfriend had violent past LIMA — A Lima man charged Friday with the murder of his live-in girlfriend was known for his violent past. A felony complaint filed in Lima Municipal Court alleges Leo Stapleton, 48, purposely caused the death of 40-year-old Kimberly Clark. Clark was found dead inside her apartment at 118 S. Metcalf St. on Tuesday. The murder charge carries a penalty of 15 years to life in prison, a $15,000 fine and up to five years of post-release control. Clark was strangled. (African American) Las Vegas man gets death penalty for killing the (White) teen daughter of his druggy friend since the 5th grade A Las Vegas man should be executed for shooting and killing 15-year-old Alexus Postorino inside her home, a jury decided Thursday. It was the sentence 41-year-old Norman Belcher asked for. Belcher shot Alexus, the daughter of a man he thought shut him out of an illicit drug trade, four times at close range while she was in her father’s bedroom. Alexus lay dying as Belcher stood over her and fired perhaps the last of four shots into the girl’s body, according to trial testimony. Two of her wounds were from gunshots fired at close range into her chest. Prosecutors alleged that Belcher, also known as Norman Bates, broke into the Postorino home in December 2010 because of a drug-related dispute with the girl’s father, who was at a casino at the time of the killing. In the days before Alexus was gunned down, Belcher sent threatening text messages to William Postorino, whom he thought owed him $450 for forged drug prenoscriptions. Another man who was inside the home, Nicholas Brabham, testified at the start of trial that he recognized Belcher after he burst into the home. Throughout trial, Belcher’s lawyers suggested that William Postorino’s involvement in illicit drugs meant that anyone could have been out to rob him. - (Black-on-white) |

Roanoke judge imposes 40-year sentence for (black man named 'White') in fatal stabbing (of his White employer) A Roanoke man convicted of fatally stabbing his former boss was given a 40-year sentence this week for second-degree murder. After a two-day trial in August, jurors found Ronald Lamont White, 43, guilty of killing David Graham Bourhill last year in the basement of Bourhill’s northwest Roanoke home. Although the jury opted to find him guilty on a lesser count of second-degree murder — possibly indicating they felt his crime lacked premeditation — they nevertheless urged Judge Chris Clemens to impose the maximum punishment for that charge: four decades in prison. “I believe in the Lord,” White wrote. “My faith tells me that in His eyes I am forgiven because He knows in my heart. It was not my intention to cause my best friend’s death.” For most of 2015, White performed paid manual labor for Bourhill, 58, but in his trial testimony in August, White maintained they were more like friends than co-workers. He also acknowledged they’d had disagreements last fall, however, and admitted those tensions eventually rose to a peak. While the exact circumstances remain unclear, on Oct. 6, 2015, they clashed violently at Bourhill’s house. The next morning, White walked into the police station and told investigators he had done “something bad,” then led them to Bourhill’s residence where Bourhill’s body was found in the basement. The scene was chaotic and blood-spattered, evidence photographs showed. Some of Bourhill’s credit cards were scattered around his body, but there was no cash and no sign of a wallet. A medical examiner’s report said Bourhill was stabbed at least 17 times, including wounds that deeply penetrated his right orbital cavity, his left temple at the ear and two knife-punctures to his left cheek. One stab wound to his back ran 5 ½ inches deep, and another extended more than 6 inches into his chest, penetrating one of his lungs. A gouge to his left arm dug nearly 3 inches and other smaller wounds peppered Bourhill’s chest, back and hand. - (Black-on-white) |

(Black) Man sentenced to 31 years in shooting that left (White) woman an amputee Julie Dombo stood on her prosthetic limbs in court and described how a few minutes in a Derby cellphone store last summer irreparably changed her life. Before that day she counseled middle school students. Lifted her own coffee cup to her lips. Went out alone for a morning jog. Now she sees a wheelchair at her bedside when she awakes, she said. Now she has to get her husband’s help doing the little things her own hands used to manage, like driving a car, showering and styling her hair. “My whole life has changed. I’m glad I lived,” she said. “But what kind of life is this when I have to figure out every day what to do?” Dombo’s statements came Friday afternoon just moments before the man who shot her twice was sentenced to 31 years in prison on nine criminal counts, including her attempted first-degree murder. A jury in October convicted James Michael Phillips, 27, of shooting Dombo during a robbery attempt at the AT&T store at 620 N. Rock Road just after it opened on Aug. 11, 2015. He was armed with a gun, handcuffs, a box of zip ties and other tools that prosecutors say he intended to use to rob the store of high-dollar smartphones that day. He fired twice at Dombo – who had gone to the store to have her phone fixed – when she refused to go to a back room with two employees as Phillips had ordered. After he fled the store, he also fired at a Derby police officer who was pursing him. Doctors had to amputate portions of Dombo’s arms and legs to save her life. She spent 114 days in the hospital. - (Black-on-white) |

"Here we go again." "When will they ever learn?" - Black man stabbed his white wife to death in front of her 5 children La Crosse, WI ---Opening statements begin Monday in the trial for a La Crosse man charged with fatally stabbing his wife in their South Side apartment earlier this year. Attorneys and a judge Thursday narrowed a pool of potential jurors to a panel of nine men and four women, including one alternate, for Haron Joyner’s five-day trial in La Crosse County Circuit Court. “This is a serious case,” defense attorney Michael Covey told the group. “It involves kids. It involves violence. It involves death.” Prosecutors charged Joyner, 35, with first-degree intentional homicide in the March 6 death 29-year-old Jessica Joyner. Joyner stabbed his wife in the neck, face and chest six or seven times in the kitchen of their upper unit at 1320 S. Fifth Ave. before she escaped to the apartment across the hall, according to the complaint. Five children, ages 5 to 11, witnessed the violence and huddled around her as she was dying on the floor, the complaint stated. “I just can’t do this anymore,” Joyner said before walking calmly from the chaotic scene, according to the complaint. Police found Joyner’s van at the La Crosse Tribune, where he worked at the time in the packaging department, and blood in the building’s bathroom sink before employees said Joyner fled in another car. One child said Joyner stabbed his wife as she was running away after he said she was “dating a crackhead,” according to the complaint.
