Brandon Jerome Smithblack home invaderblack home invaderblack home invaderMichael Lash and familyATLANTA -- Residents of Atlanta's Riverside community filled a community meeting Tuesday looking for answers from police, two days after one of their neighbors -- Michael Lash -- was shot, and his wife shot at by intruders. The gunmen shot and wounded Lash as he fought to keep them out of his home Sunday night, Atlanta police said. His wife Whitney and baby daughter escaped but not before they were shot at twice. Lash, his wife Whitney, their 2-year-old son and infant daughter had just returned to their home on Sumter Street from a vacation when four men knocked on their front door. "They pretended as if their vehicle had broken down and they were requesting a car jack of some sort from our victim at which point they brandished a weapon," said Ofc. Ralph Woolfolk. The men asked Lash to borrow a car jack and then tried to force their way inside. As Lash tried to close the door, the men shot him and entered the house. Lash was shot twice in the leg, one of the shots shattered his femur. The couple's 2-year-old son was sleeping in an upstairs bedroom. Lash's wife grabbed their infant daughter and ran to the back of the house. Police said the suspects fired twice at her and the baby, but missed. She then managed to run to a neighbor's home. Michael Lash was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition. According to a GoFundMe page created to raise money for medical costs, Lash suffered a shattered femur after being shot in both legs. - (Black-on-white)

(Black) Slidell man gets 70 years for killing (white) woman, setting house on fire
Andrew Sumner, left, Katelyn Lusich, center, and Devin BahamAshley Nicole KingCOVINGTON, La. -- A 24-year-old man was sentenced to 70 years in prison for stabbing a woman to death and torching her apartment in attempt to cover up the crime. Devin Baham, of Slidell, was sentenced for the 2012 murder of Ashley King. Judge Allison Penzato sentenced Baham, a multiple offender, to 55 years at hard labor on the manslaughter conviction, 15 years for aggravated arson and 10 years for obstruction of justice. The arson and obstruction of justice sentences are to run concurrently, but they will begin after the manslaughter sentence ends. Baham was convicted in May.

King was stabbed 13 times and her home set on fire in the early morning hours of Feb. 23, 2012. Two other defendants had already pleaded guilty for their roles in the crime. Andrew Sumner, 22, of Slidell, who pled guilty March 9 to manslaughter, aggravated arson, and obstruction of justice, is set for sentencing on Aug. 29. Sumner's "wife", Katelyn Lusich, 21, who pled guilty in November 2014 to obstruction of justice, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison. The murder of King stemmed from a plan to rob her of prescription pills and money by Baham and Sumner.

When they got to the apartment, King who had sold pills to Sumner multiple times, grew suspicious and began asking questions soon after the men entered her apartment. Baham then punched her, grabbed her from behind, and began stabbing her, and Sumner took pills and cash from the apartment, fleeing with Lusich, who at the time was 17 years old, pregnant, and waiting in the car. Sumner and Lusich stashed the pills and cash in a safe at the home of Sumner's mother, where they had been living. "Sumner went back to pick up Baham from a park near King's apartment, and both of them returned to Sumner's house, where they siphoned gasoline from a boat in the yard. They backtracked to King's apartment about 4 a.m., and Baham set it on fire." Firefighters determined that an accelerant had been used at the fire, and phone records led police investigators to Sumner, who later implicated Baham. - (Black-on-white)

DNA evidence found on a glove helps to crack a 16-year-old murder case of a (White) great grandmother, 84, who was strangled after she left a Detroit diner (by a brutal black beast with a Nigerian name)
Nosakhare N. OnumonuHelen KlocekA murder case which lay unsolved for the past 16 years has finally been unraveled thanks to DNA evidence found on a glove. The 1999 murder of Helen Klocek, 84, from Plymouth Township looked as if it would remain an unsolved cold case due to a lack of evidence. But it was cracked after investigators ran DNA tests on a glove that was left at the murder scene and matched the DNA to a convicted felon who was in jail and was set to be released imminently for another crime. The DNA belonged to Nosakhare Onumonu, a four-time convicted felon who had prior convictions and lived close to where the elderly woman's body was found. Klocek was murdered after she left the Brothers Family Restaurant on March, 2 1999 and headed toward her Plymouth Township apartment. Her body was found in an alley behind behind Calvary AME Zion Church on Detroit's west side, according to The Detroit Free Press. The widower had suffered a broken right collarbone, broken sternum, nine broken ribs and had defense wounds on her hands and arms. An eyewitness reported seeing a woman matching Klocek 'with a worried look on her face wearing a beige trench coat' driving slowly east on Joy Road, near where Klocek's body was found. She also spotted 'a young black man in the front passenger seat of the Escort, 'pointing as if to direct the driver.' - (Black-on-white)

(White) Mom, 2 Children Recovering After Stolen Vehicle In High-Speed Chase Crashes Into Their Car
Heather Bach and injured children Amelia and NoahRaymon BrownPITTSBURGH — Two children continue to recover from serious injuries after the car that their mother was driving was struck by a vehicle in a high-speed police pursuit on Route 51. “It’s a miracle that they are alive,” said Cindy West, of North Versailles. It was late Monday night when the car her daughter was driving was struck by a speeding, stolen vehicle being chased by Stowe Township Police. West’s daughter, Heather Bach, had two of her children in the car with her at the time. They were going to the airport to pick up a foreign exchange student from China. West told KDKA-TV’s Ralph Iannotti, “If it had been another foot or two my daughter and the children would have all been killed by the car that hit them. He was going superfast.” Police said the car, reported stolen from Dormont last week and being operated by 19-year-old Raymon Brown was going nearly 100 miles an hour when it slammed into Bach’s Toyota at a Route 51 intersection. Brown was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. According to a criminal complaint, he told a nurse there, “I smoked weed and took ‘percs’ before the crash.” West says her granddaughter, 11-year-old Amelia was most seriously hurt. She’s now in critical condition after major surgery. She was riding in the front seat of the car with her mother. West’s grandson, Noah, “is stable with somewhat serious injuries, but not as bad as his sister.” Friends and family have set up a GoFundMe page for the Bach family, to raise money to help pay for their medical expenses.     (Black) Judge finds (black) Taylor men guilty of misdemeanor assault in gas station beating (of White man)
Anthony ClarkDeangelo ClarkShannon WalkerRyan NasarzewskiA Wayne County judge found two Taylor men guilty of misdemeanor aggravated assault Tuesday in a gas station beating that left a Lincoln Park man hospitalized for a month. Wayne County Circuit Judge Shannon Walker rejected felony charges of assault with intent to murder and assault with intent to commit great bodily harm against Anthony Clark, 23, and his brother, Deangelo Clark, 22. Walker heard testimony on several days over the past two months, as the Clarks waived their right to a jury trial. Walker said she looked at the credibility of all the witnesses and considered the Clarks’ intent when they punched and kicked Ryan Nasarzewski, 29, of Lincoln Park, at the BP gas station at Telegraph and Wick roads in Taylor She said she believed the Clarks when they testified that they felt threatened by Nasarzewski. They testified that Nasarzewski called them a racial epithet and raised his arms in a threatening way.
Police say witnesses told them that two men were talking amongst themselves about selling drugs in the area and Nasarzewski allegedly said, “We don’t do that around here.” Witnesses said the two men got him down on the floor and kicked him in the head. Walker noted that not all witnesses who gave a statement to police testified at the trial. Nasarzewski testified last fall in District Court in Taylor that he had vision, hearing and memory problems as a result of the beating, as well as a number of broken bones in his skull and several broken ribs. Family members said that for the first two weeks after the incident, they didn’t know if Nasarzewski would live. - (Black-on-white)

(White) Corinth police officer shot with his own gun by black male
black shooterKevin Parker Jr.CORINTH, MS – Law enforcement officials across Northeast Mississippi are searching for the suspect who shot a Corinth Police officer early Wednesday morning. “We’ve got an army of people up here looking for the suspect,” said Corinth Police Chief Ralph Dance. “In addition to us and the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office, we have the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Marshals Service. “The officer is OK and in the hospital in Tupelo. He was shot in the chest, and the vest protected him. The second shot was in the shoulders. The doctors don’t think it hit any bones, and he should recover fine.” According to Dance, officer Kevin Parker Jr. and other officers responded to a prowler call around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday on Bell School Road. The officers did not find anyone in the area at that time. “The lady who called in the prowler report is blind, so Parker, being the good officer he is, went back around 4:40 a.m. just to make sure nobody was trying to get in her house,” Dance said. The officer spotted a 5-foot-9 black male weighing around 250 pounds wearing dark clothes and carrying a backpack. “The officer ‘blue lighted’ the suspect,” Dance said. “Parker stopped, got out and asked the man what he was doing. “At that point, the guy turned and ran at the officer. The officer had his gun out and in his hand. They struggled, and the suspect turned the officer’s hand and pulled the trigger twice. The officer never lost his weapon.” After the shots were fired, the suspect fled and the officer called for assistance by radio. Parker was flown by helicopter to Tupelo where he is listed in stable condition at North Mississippi Medical Center. - (Black-on-white)

No charges against officers in Terrance Kellom shooting
Terrance KellomDETROIT -- Prosecutors announced Wednesday that there will be no charges filed against the federal agent who shot and killed a black 20-year-old Detroit man in April. Terrance Kellom was shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent during a raid at Kellom's west side Detroit home. The ICE agent involved in the shooting, Mitchell Quinn, says Kellom lunged at him with a hammer, but Kellom's family said the 20-year-old was executed. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced during a press conference Wednesday that after investigating the case, her office concluded that evidence supported Quinn's version of events. "Terrance Kellom's fatal shooting was justified by the law of self-defense and the defense of others," said Worthy. "And as a result, no charges will be authorized against Agent Quinn in this case." When agents arrived at his home on Detroit's west side, Kellom was reportedly hiding inside in an attic. Worthy said Kellom yelled at out to an officer, "I have a gun. Shoot me b**ch, kill me."

Illegal Alien Skips Court After Allegedly Smashing Toddler’s Limbs
Francisco Javier ChavezMexican national and previously-deported illegal alien Francisco Javier Chavez skipped a court appearance last week, after a California sheriff’s office released him. Chavez, accused of beating his live-in girlfriend’s two-year-old daughter so badly he broke both of her arms and her leg, was released from the San Luis Obispo County Jail on $100,000 bail. Police arrested Chavez on July 30, then released him on July 31 — despite the severity of the latest allegations against him, his lengthy criminal record, and U.S. Immigration and Enforcement Customs’ request to detain him. He faces seven felony counts: Three counts for child abuse, and four counts for corporal injury to a child. “I was also told that a [U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service] hold was placed on him because he was a previous criminal deportee… and our County Jail declined to serve it because they don’t do that here. So he has made bail and is now gone,” police Sgt. Clint Winters told The Tribune.

(Black) Man Gets 40 Years for Shooting (White female) USC Student
Michael Juan SmithRyan EllisonMartha ChildressMartha ChildressColumbia, SC - A judge has sentenced a man to 40 years in prison for shooting and paralyzing a University of South Carolina student in Columbia's Five Points nearly two years ago. Circuit Court Judge Robert Hood imposed the penalty against Michael Juan Smith just before 8 p.m. Monday. That sentence included 30 years for attempted murder, and two separate consecutive five year sentences on weapons-related charges. Smith will get credit for the 674 days he's already served; however, after he's spent his time in state prison, he will then have to serve a 10 year federal sentence for a weapons charge, which he plead guilty to last year in connection with the case. Earlier in the evening, it took the jury comprised of 11 women and one man a little over an hour to find Smith guilty of all the charges against him. Moments after the verdict was read, Martha Childress, who was in court, wiped away tears and received a hug. Smith shot Martha Childress back in October of 2013 while she was waiting for a cab in Five Points, one of the city's main entertainment districts. The injury left her paralyzed from the waist down, and the lengthy time she spent in the hospital and a rehabilitation center caused her to miss the rest of her freshman year in college. She returned to class the following year. - (Black-on-white)
