White man says he was shot by same black charged with murder of Norfolk officer - July 2, 2012 Bob Russell can’t go far without thinking about being shot by Raymond Perry. “I’ve always got pain,” Russell said. This evening, he’s got a lot on his mind. He got a call from his son saying the man who shot him nearly two years ago while he worked late at night at the Lukoil Mini Mart, is now charged as a cop killer. “He was a bad character that’s for sure,” Russell said. “So I certainly wouldn’t put it past him to kill somebody.” The two shootings were only a month apart. Russell was shot in September and Decker was killed in October. “I guess I just felt lucky that I didn’t get killed,” Russell said. He wanted to take a long walk to think it over though he’s not physically able. “Basically, half of my leg doesn’t work,” Russell said. The bullet caused nerve damage in his left leg .The memories are in his mind along with the scars on his body. A wound from the bullet will never go away. Months of rehab got him to where he’s functional. Perry came into the store on Independence Blvd., took about $40 and shot Russell. “After he shot me, I was on the floor because my leg gave out on me instantly, and I was on the floor,” Russell said. “Before he left, he says ‘now I’m going to kill you.’” But for some reason, Perry spared him. Norfolk police officer Victor Decker didn’t get the same treatment. - (Black-on-white) |

Black Recruiter accused of shooting (White) commanding officers at National Guard Armory MILLINGTON, TN - - A Tennessee National Guard employee remains in custody after reportedly shooting his commanding officers at the National Guard Armory in Millington Thursday. FBI officials searched the Cordova home of the suspected National Guard Armory shooter later in the evening. Neighbors say the home belongs to Sergeant First Class Amos Patton. Patton served as a recruiter for the Army National Guard for 14 years. Before the shooting, Patton's bosses had come to town to talk with him about administrative policies and procedures and to relieve him from duty because of "misconduct." When he came back to the meeting he had a fanny pack, which he previously did not have. He took a semi-automatic 380 pistol out. The guardsmen shouted "gun." Our source says Patton emptied his weapon and fired seven to 10 shots at his commanding officers. The officers jumped on Patton and wrestled him while managing to keep the gun down. The gun fired at Maj. Jeff Crawford striking him in the thigh; he has an entrance and exit wound. A bullet hit Sgt. Maj. Ricky R. McKenzie in the foot. Lt. Col Hunter was grazed by a bullet right below the knee, according to the National Guard. All victims were sent to the Regional Medical Center (The MED) to be treated for their injuries, but they have since been released. Freddie Lee Hall - Florida Death Row Inmate - Supreme Court to decide whether he is 'too retarded' to execute Freddie Lee Hall was convicted of murdering a pregnant woman and a deputy sheriff in Florida 35 years ago. Now his case is heading to the Supreme Court. At issue is whether Hall is mentally retarded — a legal term since changed to "intellectually disabled" in most states. The Supreme Court ruled in 2002 that executing people with mental retardation is "cruel and unusual punishment" under the Eighth Amendment. But what the court did not do in Atkins v. Virginia is set a national standard for what constitutes the disability — leaving states such as Florida to devise their own definitions. - (Black-on-white) |
