21st person sentenced to prison for Cleveland gang rape case A year after promising that a 21st person would be charged in the now-infamous Cleveland gang rape case, the Liberty County District Attorney’s Office has officially closed the case with the plea bargain of Cordney Demond Bennett, 21. In exchange for his plea of Indecency With a Child by Exposure, Bennett will serve seven years in state prison. After he is released, he will be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years. The DA’s office was able to link Bennett to the rape of the 11-year-old victim through DNA samples. The Cleveland gang rape case stems from a series of sexual assaults allegedly committed by 21 males — 15 adults and six juveniles — against the 11-year-old girl in the fall of 2010. The assaults were discovered by Cleveland students who saw videos some of the men took during the sex acts and reported it to school authorities. |

Black great-grandson accused of killing White 71-year-old Cedar Mill woman PORTLAND, OR - The great-grandson of a woman found dead in her Cedar Mill home Saturday is in police custody accused of killing the 71-year-old woman. Deputies received a call to check on the welfare of Jacqueline Bell Saturday morning. Deputies said she was found dead in her home on Northwest Lee Street from "homicidal violence." Investigators believe the crime occurred earlier that morning. At 8:05 that same morning, an OSP trooper was notified about a reckless driver on Interstate 84 heading east near Milepost 251. A commercial truck driver reported a green car driving between the travel lanes and nearly rear-ending his trailer. Troopers spotted a 2006 Lexus ES350 a few miles down the road and attempted a traffic stop. Police said the Lexus then hit speeds of 135 mph. The car took Exit 273 and slowed down as it attempted to re-enter I-84. The trooper took advantage of the reduced speed and spun out the Lexus, pinning the driver's door closed. The right front passenger, later identified as Micus Ward, 19, of Kansas City, tried to run, but was caught by another trooper a short time later. The driver was unable to get out of the car and was taken into custody. He was identified as Jodah Cain, 17, the great-grandson of Bell. Investigators said he had been living with her in Cedar Mill. Cain and Ward are accused of killing Bell and stealing her Lexus. Deputies believe the pair planned to drive to Kansas City, where they both recently lived. The medical examiner's office confirmed Bell died from "blunt force trauma." - (Black-on-white) |

Anthony Darnell Wade: DEATH! for Rape, Torture, Murder of Beloved Widow "Bessie" Mae Whyman, Jury Recommends Anthony Darnell Wade, the 28-year-old drifter who tried to plead insanity for raping, torturing and killing beloved Anaheim widow Elizabeth "Bessie" Mae Whyman, should receive the death penalty, a jury in Santa Ana recommended this afternoon. The same jury that convicted Wade on Sept. 6 had heard in the penalty phase that his bipolar disorder should spare him the state's ultimate punishment. The other option was life in state prison without the possibility of parole. Wade broke into Whyman's home through a broken window as she slept in a bedroom. Wade raped her, tied up her hands and feet and punched and kicked her. He then tortured and murdered her by repeatedly stabbing her with a kitchen knife. He covered her body with a blanket before ransacking the home, stealing her purse and fleeing in her car.. - (Black-on-white) |
Black teen arrested for murder after missing White man's body found, friends say CHARLESTON, SC - Charleston County sheriff's deputies booked a 19-year-old on murder charges Monday night, about two hours after a missing man's body was found near a power substation in Mt. Pleasant, family friends say. Family members have been notified that 25-year-old William Alexander Apps, of Meeting Street, was the man found dead by detectives near a power substation off Magrath Darby Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. Monday, several days after he was reported missing, a number of close friends confirmed Tuesday morning. The Charleston County Coroner's Office has not yet publicly released the identity of the body. Charleston County Detention Center records show Jquan Scott was booked into the jail just before 10:30 p.m. on charges of murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Records also show Scott is being held on charges out of Beaufort County. According to Beaufort County Sheriff's Sergeant Robin McIntosh, their only involvement with the Apps case is an investigation into the fraudulent use of his credit cards. Apps is originally from Beaufort. According to several friends close to the situation, Apps was trying to sell his truck on Craigslist and was supposed to be meeting a potential buyer the evening he disappeared. - (Black-on-white) |

7 blacks arrested for two-week Detroit killing spree - White Vietnam War vet murdered - shot in back DETROIT - Seven men are arrested in connection with what police say is a two-week killing spree in Detroit. Police believe the spree started with the murder of two teenage boys from Westland. The bodies of 18-year-old Jake Kudla and 17-year-old Jourdan Bobbish were found in a field on Detroit's east side late July of 2012. They had been missing for about a week. The boys' families eventually learned they visited an uncle's house, then went to a gas station looking to buy drugs. Investigators say they met with a group of guys who drove them to a house, robbed them, drove them to a field on Lyford Street and shot them to death. "Yes, these are some god-awful people that need to be off the street," Melissa Villneff said. Police believe the suspects also killed her father, 62-year-old John Villneff. Police say on that day the group broke in and robbed a house, pistol whipped a 16-year-old boy and shot and killed John Villneff, a veteran and two-time Purple Heart recipient. But the alleged killing spree continues. Just hours later, in the early-morning hours of August 9, police believe some of the men are involved in a carjacking and used a woman to lure a 25-year-old man into an apartment building, robbing and killing him. The first suspect was arrested in connection with John Villneff's murder and the rest slowly started to trickle in after that as, police say, the men began to turn on each other. The suspects have been locked up for months, and some are already convicted for Villneff's murder. The men arrested in connection with the killing spree are Felando Hunter, Fredrick Young, brothers Reco and Aquire Simmons, Michael Evans, Michael Montgomery and Brandon Crawford. - (Black-on-white) |

Three black soldiers arrested for stabbing white comrade to death 'called him a cracker' |
||

||
Police today said the stabbing death of a white Army soldier allegedly at the hands of a group of African American comrades was not a hate crime - despite witnesses claiming they called him a 'cracker' during the confrontation. Tevin Geike, 20, was left for dead in a parking lot near his base in Lakewood, Washington, in the early hours of Saturday morning and three soldiers have been arrested over the killing. In the hours after the stabbing, police said they believed the attack was racially motivated because it was claimed some of the assailants - a group of five black men - called Tevin a ‘cracker’, a racist term for a white person. But Lakewood police officers today said they no longer believed the killing to be a hate crime following the arrests and speaking to everyone they believed were involved. All the suspects are from Joint Base Lewis-McChord and served in the same combat infantry unit as Tevin. The accused are Jeremiah Hill, 23 - the alleged murderer - Cedarium Johnson, 21 (2nd from left). ; and Ajoni Runnion-Bareford, 21 (pictured at left). Two others are still being sought. | ||
