Black New Jersey teen admits to strangling and dumping White 12-year-old Autumn Pasquale in recycling bin CAMDEN, N.J. — A teenager admitted Wednesday that he strangled a 12-year-old girl who disappeared last fall while out riding her bike, touching off a massive search that ended when her body was found in a recycling bin just blocks from her home. Justin Robinson (right), 16, pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in the death of Autumn Pasquale after agreeing earlier in the day to have his case moved to adult court. At the hearing, the teen took sole responsibility for killing the girl, even though his older brother is also facing a murder charge. His brother Dante Robinson (left) was 17 at the time and also is charged with murder in the case. His case is pending in juvenile court. - (Black-on-white) |

Trial date set for alleged shooter in Marley Lion murder The trial for the man accused of fatally shooting 17-year-old Marley Lion in a West Ashley parking lot last summer is scheduled to begin later this fall. Ryan Deleston (2nd from left), 32, is charged with murder, attempted armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of a handgun with an obliterated serial number in connection with the July 16, 2011 incident. Investigators say Deleston, Julius Brown (left), and Bryan Rivers (3rd from left) planned on robbing the Famous Joe's bar at 1662 Savannah Highway, but targeted Lion instead when they found him sleeping in his SUV in the parking lot. Lion was recently graduated from Academic Magnet High School and was set to enroll at Clemson University in the fall. Police said after targeting Deleston as a suspect in the shooting, they used a confidential informant to purchase a handgun from Deleston on July 15. Through ballistic tests, officials were able to confirm the pistol was the weapon used to kill Marley Lion. Julius Brown pleaded guilty earlier this month to lesser charges in exchange for his cooperation with authorities during the investigation. A fourth suspect, George Brown (right), was charged as an accessory after the fact. - (Black-on-white) |

91-year-old White woman robbed by dredlocked black man after leaving bank COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. — If you knocked on her door today, she probably would not answer. A 91-year-old woman said she opened the door to the wrong person last week and became the victim of a violent crime. “I thought it was one of my neighbors because I had just come from the bank and I was talking to my neighbor in the driveway,” the 91-year-old said. “I couldn’t understand what he was saying, so I opened the storm door. That’s when he grabbed the door, took my wrists and pushed me down.” Ricardo Edward Thompson, Jr., 21, of South Chesterfield, is charged with robbery and burglary. He is being held in Riverside Regional Jail without bond. The judge issued a protective ordered that would keep Thompson and his family away from the 91-year-old woman should the suspect be released from jail. - (Black-on-white) |

White Survivor speaks out after rape on Vanderbilt University campus by black male NASHVILLE, TN - Vanderbilt University has been under a microscope in recent weeks over a rape investigation involving several former football players, but a woman who was raped last year in a campus parking garage is speaking out to give hope to other survivors. Taylor Walker, 22, doesn't mind being identified, because she says she did nothing wrong. Walker, then a Vanderbilt University junior, had been walking to her car on the 6th floor of a campus parking garage, so she could go enjoy a concert when her life would change forever. "As soon as I got up to my car, I felt someone behind me. And I was attacked and pushed into my car, and experienced the worse moment of my life really," she said. "But luckily I made it through. A lot of other people don't end up living to see another day." Tyrone Batts, now 26 years old, would later be arrested for the crime. He is accused of robbing three other women and attempting to rape one of them during the same weekend Walker was attacked. He was out on bond for an attempted rape that occurred in 2011. "I'm just grateful he's not on the streets," Walker said. - (Black-on-white) |
