DNA links rape suspect to earlier attacks, police say DNA results show that a man who was charged with raping a woman on Monday also committed three other rapes in 2011 and 2012, Columbus police detectives said last night. Gary Naphier, 50, was a suspect in those previous offenses but police were awaiting DNA results when they say he raped another woman at her North Side apartment this week. On May 22, DNA evidence showed that the same person had committed all three of the rapes from 2011 and 2012. But at the time, there wasn’t a match to a person for that DNA. Police Search For Man Wanted Out Of Near East Side Rape Ohio - Police say they have identified a man thought to be involved in a May rape. According to Columbus police, Antiwonne M. Goins, 35, is wanted for allegedly raping a woman in her Near East Side home on Franklin Avenue May 31. Goins is charged with aggravated burglary, rape, kidnapping and felonious assault. Police said that they believed Goins could be on the south side. |
Man sentenced to 100 years in Va. Beach rape case A judge today sentenced a man to 100 years in prison, with 60 suspended, for a brutal home break-in and rape, according to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. That means Allen Otis Kelley, 27, will serve four decades, the maximum under his plea agreement, the office said. Kelley in February pleaded guilty to rape, abduction, statutory burglary and grand larceny in the case. During a previous hearing, a woman described waking up the night of Nov. 15, 2010, to find Kelley in her home. He then choked her, raped her and tied her up with shoelaces, leaving her with injuries to her face, throat and hands, according to a court document outlining prosecutors’ evidence in the case. |
Man accused of rape appears in County Court, ordered held without bail, argues with judge about attorney Charles D. Johnson, appearing before Judge Robert C. Noonan for the first time on charges that could land him in prison for life, became argumentative near the end of his arraignment over the issue of who should represent him. "I don't want this man as my lawyer," said Johnson, moments after entering a not guilty plea to an eight-count indictment that includes charges of predatory sexual assault, a Class A-II felony, rape in the first degree, criminal sexual act in the first degree and sexual abuse in the first degree. Jacksonville Police and NCIS seek man accused of rape The Jacksonville Police Department and Naval Criminal Investigative Service are seeking the assistance of the public in identifying a man accused of rape on May 10 in the northern end of Jacksonville. He is described as a black male with short hair approximately 5’10” to 6’02” tall wearing an olive green t-shirt and dark colored knee length shorts, according to JPD. |
Man accused in 2009 rape, 2013 homicide A 44-year-old man was indicted Wednesday on charges alleging that he committed a rape in March 2009 – and a slaying and related crimes this past April. Michael Lee Hall, 44, faces charges that involve two separate victims four years apart, Hamilton County court records show. Hall also is accused of failing to register his address with authorities, which he was required to do because of a prior sex conviction, court records show. |
Serial rapist Charles Steele indicted in three more decades-old Cleveland rape cases Ohio -- A convicted serial rapist, linked by DNA evidence to the rape of a Cleveland woman in 1993, now is charged with raping three more women — all within a few miles and months of one another. (AP) - A Missouri appeals court has upheld the convictions and 18 life sentences for a Kansas City man blamed for a series of sexual attacks that terrorized the city's Waldo neighborhood in the 1980s. Bernard Jackson was found guilty in 2011 and sentenced to the life terms for the rapes of four women in 1983 and 1984 - attacks he committed while on parole for crimes connected to a rape years earlier. |
Video emerges of naked man accosting riders at BART station A video emerged Monday depicting a bizarre incident at a San Francisco BART station last month, with a naked man accosting several passengers and doing flips, handstands, the splits and other gymnastic maneuvers on the BART turnstiles. The video, recorded May 10 by a BART station agent at the 16th Street Mission Station, shows the man lunge at and attack several passengers, and at one point pound the ground while passengers step gingerly around him. The video also shows a BART maintenance worker trying to block the man from getting close to passengers. The station agent recording the video helps one woman, who is visibly distressed, hide from the man in the booth. “Oh my God, I cannot believe that,” the station agent is heard saying as the man does a handstand. The man was identified by BART police as 24-year-old Yeiner Garizabalo. Friends said Tuesday he goes by Yeiner Perez and is a dedicated acrobat and performer. The episode, they said, was strongly out of character. |
‘Look at me’: Rapist charged with exposing self at Seattle park A rapist accused of displaying himself to children at a Seattle park has been charged with indecent exposure. King County prosecutors contend Joseph “Hotdog Captain” Porter exposed himself to several people on June 2 at Rainier Playfield Park. Porter, a convicted rapist and registered sex offender, is alleged to have called out “look at me” to passing children. Also known as “Micmac Joseph Chief” and “Boom Boom Joey,” Porter was seen urinating in a popular part of the park shortly before 7:30 p.m. Witnesses told police he made no attempt to cover himself; one woman walking with her children said Porter seemed to be displaying himself. Sex offender arrested in violent home invasion in Brockton - slashed grandmother in throat when she refused to undress Mass. -- Police arrested a man accused of stabbing a 62-year-old woman in the throat during a home invasion in Brockton. Brian Vines, 38, was arrested and charged with armed robbery, armed assault, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping. Police found a woman suffering from stab wounds to the neck. Police said the 62-year-old woman let Vines into her home because she had known him for many years. However, once inside, Vines attacked the woman and stole her ATM card. “The defendant confirms that, saying ‘I’ve got a gun, I will kill you.’ He them smashed her in the eye area. She collapses to the floor at which point this defendant stands over her and demands that she take her clothes off. The victim does not comply with that order. The defendant then begins attacking her further, punching her and kicking her, eventually slashing her throat with a knife and then stabbing her repeatedly in the lower back,” said Prosecutor Tim Kenney. |
Police: Man Beat, Sexually Assaulted Woman Then Stabbed Himself Md. -- Authorities say that a man is being held without bond after beating and sexually assaulting a woman at a home on Monday. Sheriff's office authorities say a woman reported getting into a verbal confrontation with Joseph Reginald Curtis II. She told officers that Curtis then grabbed her by her hair and hit her in the face and body several times. Authorities say the woman then ran inside a home to escape but Curtis followed her. Curtis followed her to a bedroom and assaulted her, then locked the door and started sexually assaulting her, say authorities. Adelanto man charged with sexually assaulting 8-year-old ADELANTO, Calif. -- An Adelanto man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexually molesting an 8-year-old girl. Keneith Dontez Mackey, 41, was arrested at his residence in Adelanto and was held on a $2,500,000 arrest warrant. Victorville detectives from the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department were notified that an 8-year-old girl said Mackey sexually molested her multiple times when he babysat her from October 2012 to March 2013. The District Attorney's Office filed charges after the sheriff's department conducted a three-month investigation. The charges are aggravated sexual assault of a child; two counts of sexual intersection or sodomy with a child under 10 years old; two counts of oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child under 10; and three counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14. If convicted Mackey could be sentenced to more than 100 years to life in prison. |
Violent Texas man set to die for fireman's slaying HUNTSVILLE (AP) -- A man responsible for a six-month reign of terror 15 years ago in Port Arthur is set for execution this week in Huntsville for fatally shooting a firefighter who had interrupted the ex-convict's rape of the fireman's nieces during a burglary. Authorities say Elroy Chester's one-man crime wave left five people dead, five shot, three raped and 25 homes burglarized. The 44-year-old Chester faces lethal injection Wednesday evening for the 1998 killing of Willie Ryman III, a two-time Port Arthur firefighter of the year. Arrest made in robbery and sexual assault of Ventura clerk Ventura police arrested a man suspected of sexually assaulting and robbing a clerk at a massage business Saturday. The incident occurred in the 700 block of East Main Street around 10:30 p.m. Police said 27-year-old Tyrane White entered the business and demanded money from the clerk at the front counter. The victim then reportedly told White that there was not any money in the store. That's when, police say, the suspect punched the victim in her face, causing her to fall through an interior window. White then dragged the victim into a masseuse room and sexually assaulted her before beating her in the face with a blunt object. |
Man charged with 13 sex crimes in 2 St. Louis area counties A man was charged with 13 different sex crimes in two St. Louis-area counties on Monday. Both St. Louis and St. Charles counties have charged 49-year-old Nathaniel Davis with abusing a girl in Rock Hill who is younger than 14 years old. Pleasant QB found with marijuana, underage girl MOUNT PLEASANT, TN - A high school football star marred with legal problems is in trouble with police again after he was accused of violating his probation. Mt. Pleasant police say they found him Monday with a 17-year-old girl and a large bag of marijuana. Princeton Harlan, a former star high school quarterback, is banned from being around anyone underage as a part of his probation requirements. Harlan was sentenced to 10 years probation last year. He and two other Mt. Pleasant High School football players were accused of raping a 12-year-old girl. |
Cooper High School hall monitor arrested in alleged sex with student ROBBINSDALE, Minn. - A 41-year-old Robbinsdale Cooper High School hall monitor was arrested on Friday after the parents of a female student called police to report he had sexual relations with their daughter. Robbinsdale police were contacted on Friday and arrested Tajreed Rich at an area home on the same day over the alleged relationship. The girl's age has not been released; however, police did confirm she is a minor. Rich serves as a hall monitor and works in the attendance office at the school. He has been an employee of the district for two and a half years. |

Suspect Charged in Murder of Popular Kenmore Restaurant Owner NY - Kenmore Police have made an arrest in the murder of a well-known restaurant owner. Antonio Martin-Brown, 19, of Buffalo was arraigned Friday morning on a second-degree murder charge. Martin-Brown was taken to the Erie County Holding Center where he's being held without bail. Vincent James "Jim" Cottone, 62, owner of Malone's Bar & Grill on Delaware Avenue in Kenmore was found dead in his Landers Avenue home last month. According to the police chief, Cottone di`ed of what appears to be blunt force injuries. Ex-NFL Star Chad Johnson Gets 30 Days in Jail Former NFL star Chad Johnson will serve 30 days in jail after violating probation in a domestic violence case involving his then-wife, TV reality star Evelyn Lozada. A plea deal that called for no jail time fell apart Monday. Broward Judge Kathleen McHugh rejected it after Johnson playfully slapped his attorney on the behind in court. McHugh says Johnson wasn't taking things seriously enough, even after he apologized. McHugh also extended Johnson's probation for three months. The 35-year-old formerly known as Chad Ochocinco pleaded no contest to head-butting Lozada during an argument in August. Ex-NFL player Titus Young posts bond, out of jail Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young has posted bond and has been released from an Orange County jail where he was being held for allegedly trying to burglarize a San Clemente home. According to Orange County Sheriffs' inmate tracking website, Young posted bond and was released Thursday. In Orange County, Young faces four felonies and seven misdemeanors stemming from a May 11 break-in that ended in a scuffle with two police officers. Riverside County prosecutors have charged the 23-year-old with trespassing. He was arrested there May 5 for allegedly driving under the influence and was arrested again that day for allegedly trying to steal his car from a Moreno Valley tow yard. Man to face new charge alleging he sexually assaulted 3rd child The Ypsilanti Township man accused of sexually assaulting two children between October and April faces an additional sexual assault charge. John Caddell, 72, will face another charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. The charges come from the same police investigation that resulted in Caddell being charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct on a person under 13 years old and one count each of second-degree criminal sexual conduct on a person under 13 years old and accosting a child for immoral purposes. |
Man charged with rape - Alleged victim says she was unconscious St. George Police detectives charged a St. George man with first-degree felony rape on Friday night after a woman claimed she had been raped while she was unconscious in May. “The female reported that a male that gave her CPR may have raped her before calling 911. The case was assigned to the investigation unit on May 28, and it took until June 7 to locate and interview (the suspect.)” The alleged victim told detectives she suspected Rodger William Kelly, 50, to have raped her. “(Kelly) admitted to having sex with the female in order to try and warm her core temperature,” Triplett said. “He did that while she was unconscious. Carencro man with AIDS charged with homo rape of 5-year-old boy A Carencro man has been charged with raping a 5-year-old boy and possibly giving the child AIDS, according to records with the Lafayette Parish District Attorney’s Office. Conwell Cormier, 29, was indicted by a Lafayette Parish grand jury this past week on one count of aggravated rape and one count of exposing the child to AIDS, records show. Cormier, whose address was 241 Beau Basin Road, Apartment 13 in Carencro, has been in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center since his arrest on April 1. He is being held on $1 million bail, records show. Records indicate the victim had recently turned 5 when the attack occurred around Jan. 1. |

Authorities arrest suspect in SW Atlanta rape ATLANTA -- Authorities have arrested a man they say raped and beat a woman in southwest Atlanta. 24-year-old Jermaine Jordan was arrested for beating a woman and raping her in an abandoned home near the 2800 block of Forrest Hill Drive. The victim stated that Jordan assaulted her, forced her to smoke crack and sodomized her until she threw up. The victim had never seen the suspect prior to the assault. She sustained severe swelling to her head, neck and face. |
Arrest made in Mt. Vernon rape case Baltimore City police have a suspect in custody in connection with a rape in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood. The victim was walking home early on the morning of Tuesday, May 28th; she'd just ended her bartending shift, on the evening of Memorial Day. Police say the suspect approached her with a knife, forced her into her apartment, and raped her. Then, they say he tried to cover it up. Police identified Charick Callaway, 31, as their suspect. Mobile man convicted of raping relative sentenced to 99 years in prison Faced with starkly different sentencing recommendations by the prosecution and defense, a judge this afternoon imposed a 99-year prison term on John Milner, convicted of raping his own relative. Assistant District Attorney Keith Blackwood recited lengthy arrest record involving sexual assault allegations. For one reason or another, none of them had resulted in a felony conviction before Milner’s trial in April. Each time, he received a “gift,” Blackwood said. “John Milner forever damaged his own (relative). She is not the same person she was, and she can never be the same person again,” he said. “It is a gift of liberty he does not deserve.” |
Man indicted for knifepoint rape LeROY, N.Y. - The case against the prime suspect in a terrifying home invasion is heading to trial. A Genesee County grand jury has indicted 29-year-old Charles Johnson on eight charges, including rape and burglary. Police say Johnson climbed through an open apartment window in LeRoy last month and sexually assaulted a woman at knifepoint. DNA led police to Johnson two weeks later. |
London Paedophile Opemipo Jaji Jailed for Edmonton Schoolgirl Rape A teenager convicted of raping an 11-year-old girl on her way home in north London will serve a minimum of eight years of a life sentence. Opemipo Jaji , 18, from Edmonton, was found guilty of raping the schoolgirl in Jubilee Park after following her off a bus in Enfield in November. The court heard how Jaji - who was on bail at the time of the attack for a previous sex offence - repeatedly raped the 11-year-old for three hours while threatening to stab her if she tried to escape. Feds Recommend Prison For Both Jacksons, But Not At Same Time Federal prosecutors have recommended former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. be sentenced to four years in prison, and his wife, former Ald. Sandi Jackson, get 18 months behind bars, though they also suggested a judge should not send them both to prison at the same time. The Jacksons have two children, ages 9 and 13, and federal prosecutors suggested their prison terms should be staggered so Sandi would go to prison first, then Jesse.Jesse Jackson Jr. has pleaded guilty to misusing $750,000 in campaign funds for personal expenses, while Sandi has pleaded guilty to failing to report that money as income on their tax returns. Nancy Sullivan, Shoreview victim, is 8th Minneapolis woman allegedly killed by husband/BF since December Nancy Sullivan was shot and killed by her boyfriend, John Simpson, as she attempted to move out of the Shoreview home they shared. Sullivan, a 57-year-old partner at the Barnes & Thornburg law firm in Minneapolis, is the eighth Twin Cities woman allegedly killed by her boyfriend or husband since December. Neighbors say they had no indication Simpson was a threat to act out violently. But according to a report, his ex-wife accused him of "domestic abuse and bullying behavior" in a 2002 divorce filing. In addition to using a handgun to shoot Sullivan and himself, Simpson also allegedly shot Sullivan's daughter and her boyfriend. Double murder suspect being treated for self-inflicted wounds Aaron J. Welch, 26, of Schenectedy remains in the hospital after being taken into custody as a suspect in the murders of Stephanie Morrison, 22, and Shawn P. Kessler, 31, at 319 Myrtle St. on Tuesday. Welch was found in the woods near River Street roughly five hours after the murders took place. He suffered from apparently self-inflicted stab wounds and was taken to the hospital. Rome police say Welch attacked Morrison, the mother of his child, and Kessler, a friend of Morrison’s, with an unidentified “sharp-edged instrument.” Kessler and his girlfriend, whose name has not been released, were staying with Morrison to babysit her child while she was at work. Crane Operator In Philadelphia Building Collapse Had Pot, Painkiller In His System Blood tests on the crane operator involved with Wednesday’s deadly building collapse in Center City detected the presence of a prenoscription painkiller and marijuana. The blood, along with urine, was taken from 42-year-old Sean Benschop at the hospital approximately two hours after the collapse at 22nd and Market Streets, which killed six people and injured 13. A 13-year-old victim told police he was sitting with Christian Matthew Wilson, 21, when Wilson touched him and sexually assaulted him on March 16. Officers arrested Wilson Thursday and charged him with one count of aggravated sexual battery and one count of indecent liberties with a child. |

Reward offered for (black) suspect in fatal carjacking of (White) elderly Arlington woman Officers took their search for a suspect in the carjacking, kidnapping, and death of an 83-year-old woman door-to-door. A witness said he saw a man approach Leona Swafford as she drove into the driveway of her home after picking up donuts. The witness told police he became involved in an altercation with the man after he saw the suspect assault Swafford. However, the suspect was able to drive away from the scene with the victim still inside the vehicle. Juan Varella said he ran outside just as the suspect crashed Swafford's car into his, and then sped away. "I was in the house and heard screams," said Janell Havran, a neighbor three doors down. She saw Swafford's adult daughter, who lives at the home, heartbroken and collapsed on the driveway seconds after the abduction. Police said construction workers discovered Swafford's body at about 10 a.m. on the side of a vacant house about three miles from where she was taken. Authorities said she suffered trauma to her head, but a formal cause of death is pending an autopsy by the medical examiner. The carjacker was described as a black male in his late 20s to late 30s, has a muscular build, dark skin, little-to-no facial hair, is between 5-foot-11 and 6-feet tall, with short hair, possibly styled in a half-inch afro. - (Black-on-white) |
Rape victim speaks out in bid to find man who attacked and robbed her in broad daylight and got away A 22-year-old who was raped in broad daylight has spoken out about the assault in the hope it will lead to the capture of her attacker. Alexandra Clarke, from Chicago, was raped last month while she was waiting for a bus at a busy intersection. She was listening to music on her iPhone around 2pm when a man sat down beside her. She said: 'He was sitting there for about 30 seconds to a minute. And all of sudden he grabbed my throat, he said, "You are going to take a walk with me".' Milford Man Arrested for Homo Sexually Soliciting Young Boys Del.- Police have arrested a 59-year-old Milford man accused of sexually soliciting two 4-year-old boys. Milford police said that on Monday evening, officers responded after receiving a call about an adult male suspect attempting to lure children into nearby bushes in order to have them commit sexual acts with him. Police said that when officers contacted the suspect, identified as Leslie A. Nickelson, and tried to arrest him, he resisted them. Officers then utilized pepper spray on Nickelson and took him into custody. According to police, the ensuing investigation determined that Nickelson had attempted to lure two 4-year-old boys into isolated areas alone for sexual acts in exchange for giving the children money. |
Former Macon cop indicted, accused of having sex with suspect Bibb County grand jurors indicted a former Macon police officer Tuesday on charges stemming from his allegedly having sex with a woman he had arrested on a shoplifting charge in 2011. Freddie Fountain is charged with sexual assault against a person in custody and violation of oath by a public officer, according to an indictment filed in Bibb County Superior Court. Fountain and another officer responded to a report of two women shoplifting at Old Navy on Presidential Parkway on Oct. 11, 2011, and the officers took the women into custody. One of the women allegedly “negotiated the charge with an offer of sex” with Fountain, and Fountain drove her to his apartment where they had sex, police have said. |
Former NOPD officer wanted for rape surrenders to deputies A satellite installer and former New Orleans police officer who was wanted by the Washington Parish deputies for allegedly sexually assaulting a customer has turned himself into authorities, according to the sheriff's office. The sheriff's office had a warrant for the arrest of Jermaine Lacour, 30, of New Orleans, who was dismissed from the New Orleans Police Department in May 2012, for forcible rape. Lacour turned himself into the Washington Parish Jail Wednesday afternoon. On May 29, according to the sheriff's office, a woman was attacked by a satellite technician, identified as Lacour, who was at her home to install television service. |

CPS Teacher Charged With Sexual Assault A Chicago Public Schools teacher was formally charged Wednesday with allegedly raping a friend after the pair drank wine while watching a basketball game last month. Lewis Himes Jr., 41, was already intoxicated when he visited the woman’s south side home with a bottle of wine on May 28, Cook County prosecutors said Wednesday. The following morning, Himes went into the woman’s bed and allegedly sexually assaulted her even though she asked him to stop and tried to escape. |
Deadbeat Dad Fathers 22 Children By 14 Women NASHVILLE, Tenn. - It is one of Metro's most expensive child support cases and the father in question considers himself to be quite the ladies man. "I was young and ambitious and I love women. You can't knock no man for loving women," said Orlando Shaw whose relationships have led to several children. The 33-year-old Shaw admitted to fathering 22 kids by 14 different women. Those mothers -- through Child Support Services -- took Shaw to court for tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid child support over the years. It is estimated the state (taxpayers) pays more than $7,000 each month in assistance to help support all of Shaw's children. |
