Deadly shooting on Pensacola Beach Fla. - The Escambia County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly shooting. Investigators say 34-year-old Michael Leslie Harris of Milton was shot and killed on Pensacola Beach early Tuesday. The emergency call was reported at 3:45 a.m Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said investigators believe the murder started as a confrontation between Harris, a woman and a group of friends at a birthday party. "We had one couple walking down the beach. An argument ensued between the man and the woman. The other group on the casino beach side near the pavilion saw what was going on and intervened what could have been a potential domestic violence situation. Unfortunately, a gun was pulled and someone lost their life" said Sheriff David Morgan. Authorities said Harris was shot in his upper torso and died at the scene. New Information: Suspect arrested Escambia deputies have made an arrest in an early morning murder at Pensacola Beach. Demarcus Jenkins is now behind bars, charged with murder in the death of 34-year-old, Michael Harris, of Milton. Harris was shot to death just before four a.m. near the Casino Beach Pavilion. The three other people who they were seeking for questioning, Antonio Morrell, Demontae Thurman and an unnamed 17-year-old, are being released. - (Black-on-white) |
Murder suspect arrested at Church’s Chicken A felon accused of killing a middle Georgia man in May was arrested Monday at a fast-food chicken restaurant, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said. Nathaniel Lewis Cummings, wanted on murder and burglary charges in Dodge County, was arrested by DeKalb deputies and U.S. Marshals at the Church’s Chicken Restaurant in the 1800 block Candler Road. Cummings, 38, is accused in the May 10 shooting death of Gregory Giddens, of Eastman, Bell said. Cummings is also wanted for burglary and probation violation in Laurens County, and his arrest also violates the terms of his release from state prison in February. - (Black-on-white) |

Perv teacher convicted after turning 8 and 9-year-olds into 'personal sex toys' A Queens jury convicted a teacher for using five elementary students as his "personal sex toys" inside their third and fourth-grade classrooms. Simon Watts, a former teacher at the Jackie Robinson Elementary school, appeared shocked when the foreperson read "guilty" on all eleven counts for forcing four little girls to inappropriately touch his crotch and molested a boy. "This wasn't an anatomy lesson, he wasn't their science teacher. He did this to get off," said Assistant District Attorney Alison Andrews. Others said he waited until they were alone during the after-school program to whip it out or grab them. |
Ewing man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting Trenton teenager reaches plea deal Trenton - A Ewing man who was originally charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting his 15-year-old ex-girlfriend was sentenced to five years in prison yesterday after pleading guilty to threatening her and to an unrelated weapons charge. Marquis Smith, 22, was accused of kidnapping the Trenton girl on Chambers Street and keeping her in an attic in an abandoned building for four days in May 2011. |
Pawtucket man charged with rape R.I. -- The brother of a murder suspect is charged with first degree sexual assault. Napolean Johnson, 19, is accused of raping a 14 year-old girl in his home in Pawtucket. He is being held without bail. Napolean's older brother, Darrell Johnson, is currently being held in the ACI awaiting trial on murder charges . He is accused of killing Joshua Burgo behind the Nathanael Greene Elementary School last July. |
Man accused of two years' worth of rape, sex abuse, Mobile police say A Mobile man was arrested today after police were tipped off to allegations that he had sexually abused someone over the course of two years, according to the Mobile Police Department. Terrence Lamar Thompson, 43, was booked into Mobile County Metro Jail around 11:50 a.m. on one count each of second-degree rape and second-degree sexual abuse. Cpl. Christopher Levy, public information officer for MPD, declined to discuss details about the victim, citing his or her privacy. He did, however, say the two knew each other. |
Man ran to woman walking outside while fondling and exposing himself, cops say A Fort Pierce man allegedly exposed and fondled himself while he ran toward a woman as she was walking along a street and grabbed her clothes, according to an arrest affidavit, reports TCPalm.com in Stuart. The woman kicked the stranger, later identified as Nafredrick Altwon Robinson, 20, before calling the cops, who found him a short time later, according to the report. |

Black girl who stabbed (White) elderly Bible school teacher 33 times with butcher knife is scheduled to be released Paula Cooper was 15 when she and three other teenage girls showed up at Ruth Pelke's house on May 14, 1985, with plans of robbing the 78-year-old Bible school teacher. Pelke let Cooper and two of the teen's companions into her Gary home after they told her they were interested in Bible lessons. As the fourth teen waited outside as a lookout, Cooper stabbed Pelke 33 times with a butcher knife. Then she and the other girls ransacked the house. The four girls fled with Pelke's car and US$10. Cooper's three accomplices were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 25 to 60 years. But Cooper, who confessed to Pelke's slaying, was convicted of murder and sentenced to die in the electric chair. Deloney. Deloney, 27, is accused of killing Richard Evans at Cosmic Pizza on Saturday. Cosmic Pizza shooting: Residents hold vigil for slain Hartwell pizzeria owner CINCINNATI - Neighbors and customers gathered outside of Cosmic Pizza in Hartwell Sunday to grieve the loss of that restaurant's owner. Richard Evans, a husband and father of three young children, was shot and killed Saturday after 6 p.m. during an attempted robbery at his eatery, according to Cincinnati police. Responding officers said Evans was shot multiple times inside the restaurant, then ran outside the building before collapsing in Bill Wesley's front yard. The suspect is described as a heavyset African-American male in his 20s or 30s who is approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, according to police. Black homosexual rapist arrested for murder of elderly White woman Derry Township Police say they have made an arrest in the stabbing death of Joyce Roth, 87. According to court papers, Dajuan Porter, 29, of Harrisburg is charged with first degree murder for Roth's death. He is also charged with burglary, arson and retaliation against victim or witness. 92-year-old woman robbed, raped in home invasion STANFORD, Ky. - Police describe the violence that happened in the home as a home invasion. They say the 92 year old woman who lives there opened her door to a man who then beat and raped her, then made off with some of her money. A neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified, believes the man tried her home first before attacking her neighbor. The victim was taken to the hospital. Then on Saturday morning, police were again called to the area, when a stranger was found sleeping in a nearby house. Teen charged with robbery, rape near Metrolink station A man has been charged with raping and robbing a woman after she left a train station in East St. Louis. Dominic Hood, 18, was charged Monday with repeatedly sexually assaulting a 33-year-old East St. Louis woman after she got off the MetroLink Emerson Park station about 12:45 a.m. on Jan. 29. Police said the woman was walking when Hood stuck a gun in her back and demanded money. When Hood was arrested last week for the rape, he was out on bond for an aggravated robbery. Last November, he pleaded guilty to aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in a different case, and was sentenced to probation. |
Police Charge A Second Student With In-School Sex Crimes - A second student has been arrested for trying to sexually assault a girl inside of Pocono Mountain West High School. Police announced they arrested a 17 year old for two separate incidents of trying to molest girls in school. Police charged Alonzo McGill Jr. An 11th grade girl got permission to walk in the hall during class. She said McGill approached her and asked her to walk with him. He asked her to go into the boy's bathroom but she said no. She told police he pulled her towards that bathroom but she ran away to the girl's bathroom. McGill reportedly followed her, pulled her into a stall, shut the door, locked it, and blocked the exit. He then allegedly pulled down his pants and asked her to perform a sex act. She repeatedly told him no. She then said he grabbed the back of her head and pulled her toward him while she resisted. A hall monitor on a regular patrol went into the bathroom and stopped the alleged attack. |

Renee Williams, 12, said bullying began when she started at Mifflin Middle School in March. She claimed that on her first day as a 6th-grade student, a substitute teacher made fun of her, so she reported it to school officials. In turn, she said, her classmates tortured her by stealing her school supplies and cell phone. She said the situation escalated Tuesday. Dennis McAllister pleads guilty to rape ABERDEEN, Miss. -- An Aberdeen man pleaded guilty to rape during a hearing in Monroe County Circuit Court on Monday. Dennis McAllister, 32, entered the plea in the incident that happened in 2010. Prosecutors discussed the plea and sentencing with the victim before presenting it to the court. The judge sentenced McAllister to eight years in prison and five years supervised probation upon his release from prison. He must also register as a sex offender. |
Marc Donald Jean-Michel, a native of Haiti,, held on pair of rape charges A judge on Monday set $25,000 cash-only bail for a Portsmouth man charged with two felony counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault. Arraigned by video from the Rockingham County House of Corrections, for the pair of charges alleging rape, was Marc Donald Jean-Michel, 37. A native of Haiti, Jean-Michel was arraigned with assistance from a French translator and told the court he works in Rye as a licensed practical nurse, while living in Portsmouth with his wife and child. Judge Sawako Gardner read the charges to Jean-Michel, one of which alleges that in May he held a woman down in a car and raped her. The second charge alleges that on the same date Jean-Michel raped the woman after she said “don't” and pushed his chest with her hands. Rye Police Sgt. Scott Blaisdell told the court Jean-Michel has no criminal history and is considered a permanent American resident. But because of his ties to Haiti and the seriousness of the allegations, Blaisdell said he was seeking the $25,000 cash-only bail. |

Man accused of tearing off part of 1-month-old son's scalp FAIRBORN, Ohio - A man was arrested after allegedly ripping off a portion of his 1-month-old son's scalp in an argument with the child's mother in southwest Ohio, police said. Kodi Weatherspoon, 34, was in jail on charges of felonious assault and endangering children. Police Sgt. Paul Hicks says Weatherspoon called 911 Wednesday afternoon to report the child was injured. Hicks says Weatherspoon allegedly punched his wife while she was holding their baby and apparently pulled part of the baby's scalp off while grabbing for his wife's hair. |
Dad accused of leaving infant in woods PORTSMOUTH, Va. - A 22-year-old man is facing a slew of charges after an infant was left in a wooded area during a domestic incident Monday morning. The Police Department said officers responded to a report of a woman being assaulted by the father of her child. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering abrasions and contusions to her face and head. Witnesses told police the suspect, identified as Ayrton Trannie Wright, 22, ran into a wooded area. Officers spotted him and took him into custody, but were told by the victim that her 2-month-old baby was missing. The officers went back to the wooded area and found the infant on the ground near a tree. |
Dad charged with capital murder in baby's death HOUSTON -- Two-month-old Jaden Clay died back in March, and now, his father is charged with capital murder in the infant's death. On March 11, Jaden was rushed to the hospital where doctors discovered he had a skull fracture, bleeding on the brain and a liver laceration. He died four days later. According to court documents, doctors says the injuries were consistent with abuse, and the explanations given by Jaden's father and other witnesses didn't explain the baby's wounds. Jaden's mother reportedly told police that she had dropped the baby off with his father, and when she picked him up two days later, he wasn't responding normally. She says the baby's father told her he had rolled over the baby, and that the child had scratched his eyes. Joshua Clay, 28, is charged with capital murder. No bond has been set. |

(AP) — Danielle Powell (right) was going through a hard time in the spring of 2011, just months away from graduating from a conservative Christian college in Nebraska. She had fallen in love with another woman, Michelle Rogers (left), a strictly forbidden relationship at a school where even prolonged hugs were banned. Powell said she was working at a civil rights foundation in Mississippi to finish her psychology degree when she was called back to Grace University in Omaha and confronted about the relationship. She was eventually expelled — then sent a bill for $6,000 to reimburse what the school said were federal loans and grants. |

Court date set for suspect in Clinton couple's slaying CLINTON, MS - The man accused in the murders of two elderly victims in Clinton is scheduled to be in Clinton Municipal Court later this month. Willie Williams Jr., 47, of Clinton, will be in court June 24 at 1 p.m. in connection to the murders of a Clinton couple killed Thursday night. The murder victims were identified as Arthur Hodge, 89, and his 86-year-old wife, Maxine Hodge. Stewart confirms both victims were stabbed and Arthur Hodge suffered blunt force trauma. The couple lived in a home at 500 Brookwood drive. Interim Police Chief Warren, says Williams told authorities with the Jackson Police Department that he killed the couple around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night. - (Black-on-white) |
Man charged for death of elderly Charlotte woman CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A man has been charged for the murder of a Charlotte woman found dead by her family Thursday. Dorothy C. Gregg, 88, was pronounced dead when medics arrived to her home in the 3800 block of Plainview Road around 7:30 p.m. Homicide detectives charged Robert Maurice Nixon, 44, for her murder Sunday, along with breaking and entering, financial transaction card theft and unauthorized use of a financial card. Police say Nixon knew the victim. DeLand man convicted of first-degree murder A DeLand man was sentenced Thursday to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder and armed robbery in the killing of a 22-year-old woman in the garage of her parents' Deltona home. The jury deliberated almost 2½ hours in determining Kendell Rattley's fate during the 27-year-old's second trial for the slaying of Erin Gray on the morning of Jan. 17, 2011. “On behalf of my entire family we are very pleased with the verdict. We finally have some closure,” Gray's brother, Nicholas Gray, 28, said after the unanimous decision was handed down by the jury of nine women and three men. “But no matter what the verdict, nothing brings Erin back.” - (Black-on-white) |
Naked SF BART Station Acrobat Reportedly Facing Deportation A man who allegedly stripped naked and harassed a number of BART commuters inside a San Francisco station last month is likely now facing deportation, according to published reports. SF Weekly reports that the man, identified as 24-year-old Yeiner Perez, was handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials after being arrested following a May 10th incident inside the 16th and Mission BART Station. Video from the minutes leading up to the arrest show a nude man doing flips and handstands on fare gates at the station and then harassing several passengers and employees. Jury convicts man shot in rape-kidnapping SPRINGFIELD — A man accused of raping and kidnapping a woman, only to be shot by when that woman took his gun, was convicted. Duane Portman Sr., 44, was found guilty on single counts of aggravated robbery, abduction and six counts of rape. Portman was shot in the face on Sunday, Sept. 2, at his business, Labelz 4 Less on East Main Street, by a woman who told police Portman held a gun to her head and raped her at the business. The victim, who is an escort, told police she wrestled the gun from Portman and shot him before she drove to Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton for help. |
Felon charged with pimping after Edgewater Hotel bust A sex offender with a history of being a pimp has been charged with promoting prostitution after police said he sent two young women to the Edgewater Hotel for sex. Harold Murphy, 23, has a history of prostituting minors and was given a 36-month sentence in 2010. He was released about a month before police said he was advertising the sexual services again. "On May 28, I received a text message that had two pictures, one of a blond, and one of an Asian female," Detective William Guyer wrote in a probable cause document. "After the message Murphy texted 'blond and Asian," he then texted asking "whats your budget pal." |
Gun shop burglary suspect in Jefferson County tries ceiling escape A man suspected of burglarizing a gun store in southern Jefferson County tired to escape sheriff's custody by climbing into the ceiling of an interview room when he was left alone. At 3:05 a.m. Monday deputies responded to a motion alarm at Denver Guns & Ammo. When deputies arrived a man was spotted running from the store. A short time later, deputies took a suspect into custody, a man who was hiding in a nearby trash bin. Two handguns, property of the store, and drugs were also found in the trash bin, according to the release. The sheriff's office identified the suspect as 29-year-old Christopher Snow. |
Mom, three teen daughters shot in Nashville; gunman still at large A woman and her three teenage daughters who were wounded when the woman's barefoot boyfriend shot them Friday in Nashville, Tenn., were listed as stable at a Nashville hospital Friday night, police said. Police were seeking Earnest Woodley, 39, also known as Earnest Moore, a convicted murderer with a long criminal record. Police said Woodley, who was charged late Friday with four counts each of attempted homicide and aggravated assault, fled wearing a gray T-shirt, blue shorts and no shoes. Nicole Luke, 34, her twin 14-year-old daughters, Deona and Keona Luke, and their 15-year-old sister, Kierra Smith, were all shot Friday afternoon at an apartment complex in the Madison neighborhood of northeast Nashville. |
Trenton man charged in stabbing death of girlfriend A "city man" who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death inside of the Southard Street home they shared on June 1 was charged. William Nobles, 40, was charged in the death Celeste Pernell, 54, whom he allegedly stabbed to death with scissors multiple times. He is charged with murder and weapons charges. According to reports Nobles left Trenton after the argument that left Pernell dead and traveled to Camden where he allegedly admitted to killing her at a crisis center the following day. Trenton police were notified of the possible homicide and found Pernell dead after making entry into the home they shared. |

Eddie Luter, who spoke through an interpreter - sentenced to more than 33 years for rape of 12-year-old girl A 35-year-old man will serve 33 years in prison for raping a 12-year-old girl staying with him and his wife. Eddie Luter, who spoke through an interpreter in Chuukese, pleaded guilty to five counts of rape before Marion County Circuit Court Judge David Leith Friday. Luter will pay attorney fees and fines in addition to the 33 years and four months he will serve in the Oregon Department of Corrections. The victim, whose parents live and work in Chuuk State in Micronesia, was not present in court Friday. According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Luter walked into the Marion County Jail visiting area on May 2 to confess that he had been sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl who lived with him and his wife in their Salem apartment since 2010. |

DeKalb police release composite sketch of indecency suspect GA - The DeKalb County Police Department released a sketch of a man involved in a public indecency incident. On June 6, police said a victim was at a bus stop when the suspect approached. She saw he was committing a sexual act at the intersection of Covington Highway and Mercer Drive. The victim ran from the location and called police. Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Special Victim's Unit at 770-724-7710. |
Former NOPD officer accused of sexually assaulting woman in Washington Parish The Washington Parish Sheriff's Office has issued an arrest warrant for a former New Orleans police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman inside her home after he installed her satellite television. The warrant charges Jermaine Daniel Sims Lacour, 30, with forcible rape. According to a Sheriff's Office report, Lacour, a satellite technician, went to a woman's Washington Parish home on May 29 to install television service. When the victim looked up to give Lacour a check, he had exposed himself, according to the Sheriff's Office. Lacour then physically attacked and tried to sexually assault the victim before fleeing, according to the report. |

Tampa Police says Naba Lewis held two teens for prostitution Room 216 looks like any other at the USA Inn (also known as America's Best Value Inn & Suites), but behind the closed door, Tampa PD says Naba Lewis was holding two teenage girls and forcing them into prostitution. Officers discovered the setup about midnight Wednesday, after the hotel owner called police about a disturbance. It turns out that the family of one of the girls was at the hotel and trying to take her home. "We didn't know what was going on," said hotel owner Vijay Patel. "They were here saying their 16-year-old cousin was in a room and she wasn't supposed to be here -- she's not registered at the hotel." |

Parolee wanted for attempting to light ex-girlfriend on fire in Ferndale Ferndale police are seeking the public's help finding a convict and absconding parolee they say tried to kill his ex-girlfriend. Jemaine S. Thomas, 40, "ambushed" his ex-girlfriend when she exited her Ferndale apartment on 9 Mile June 8, according to police.
