Newport News Police Seek Rape, Burglary Suspect Newport News police are looking for 21-year old Travis L. Jackson. Jackson has been charged with burglary, abduction, three counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, attempted robbery, and rape. The woman said she was in her residence with her son when she heard a loud noise downstairs. When she went to investigate the woman claims she was confronted by two armed men who had gained entry by forcing open an exterior door. Both men brandished handguns and demanded the location of her safe. When she told the men she did not have a safe, the woman says one of the suspects raped her. |

Five Africans, One Spanic Arrested, Two More Blacks Sought In Gang Rape Of 14-year-old Girl Over Two Day Ordeal        ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Five adults and a teenage boy are under arrest and warrants are out for two more men on what police described as a shocking crime: the rape of a 14-year-old girl several times over a two-day period. On March 29, police were called to the Flagler Hospital emergency room to investigate a sexual battery. The victim said she was assaulted multiple times by eight attackers in a room at La Quinta Inn. Those arrested are: Marcus Leo Anderson, 21; George Anthony Edwards, 52; Cleveland Powell III, 19; Hector Luis Ramos, 33; James Arnett Williams Jr., 19; and a 16-year-old "boy" not named due to his age. Police have warrants for the arrest of Jose Manuel DeJesus, 24, and Tray Delron Lyons, 18, both of St. Augustine. Investigators believe the two are hiding from police. - (Brewski) |
Black garbage collector arrested in 2002 Cape Cod RAPE-murder of White woman   (CNN) -- A 33-year-old garbage collector has been arrested in the stabbing death of a single mother three years ago on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, authorities said Friday. The Barnstable County district attorney's office confirmed the arrest of Christopher McCowen in connection with the death of Christa Worthington but gave no details about pending charges. Worthington, 46, a former fashion writer for publications such as Women's Wear Daily and Elle magazine, was found stabbed to death in January 2002 in her Truro, Massachusetts, home, with her 2-year-old daughter clinging to her body. Black Held in White Marine's Slaying - Family Mourns Iraq War Veteran  ATLANTA -- Charles Anthony Key is accused in an apparent road rage shooting in which a Marine was fatally wounded. The funeral for Jack R. Snook, 24, of Cumming, was held at St. Brendan's Catholic Church. Snook was found dead of a gunshot wound to the face about 4:30 a.m. Sunday by police responding to a report of a person shot. Witnesses said Snook was a passenger in a vehicle that had stopped at the traffic light and got into an argument with a black man in a white Ford. - (Victor)

New Orleans Police officer accused of home invasion and rape NOPD arrested a seven-year member of force for rape and assault. The officer, Corey Johnson, 34, was assigned to the Major Narcotics Section. Johnson, who was off duty at the time, had apparently gone to a home, knocked on the front door and was allowed in after he identified himself as New Orleans police officer. He asked for a woman, who was not at home at the time, and threatened a 41-year-old man, police said. Johnson walked to the rear of the home and threatened a 31-year-old man, ordering him to the front of the house. A 21-year-old woman was in the room. Johnson demanded sex from her, but she refused. A 24-year-old woman submitted to his demands and was raped. - (White Boy) |

Kenneth Booker arrested in rape of 11 year old Kenneth Booker, 20 of Mansfield is facing charges that he raped an 11 year old girl. The young girl was reportedly playing outside an apartment complex March 28th when Booker started a conversation with her. Desoto Parish investigators say Booker lured the girl into an apartment and raped her. The girl did not tell anyone about what happened for several days because Booker treatened her with bodily harm if she said anything. He confessed to the crime.- (Brewski) |
Convicted Killer Faints In Court At Sentencing - Man Convicted Of Strangling, Burning Woman To Death  A convicted killer fainted in court Tuesday as his sentence was read. Benjamin Cooper received the maximum sentence of 31 to 62 years in prison for strangling Claire Clay. After the sentence was read, there was a thud in the courtroom as the defendant fainted. "I think that Claire was able to speak. We wanted her to have the last word. That's what we accomplished today," said Emily Clay, Claire's mother. Clay was a Catholic school music teacher in Philadelphia. In the courtroom her family sobbed. Cooper became friendly with Clay while she was singing R&B. Clay's life was cut short on Sept. 8, 2003, when Cooper, 19, snapped. Cooper strangled Clay and stuffed her body into the trunk of her car. He used her cell phone and also used her credit card to buy a videogame. He then set Clay's body on fire behind a trash bin. Her body was burned beyond recognition. - (The Bobster) |
Wheelchair-bound sex offender faces Brevard rape charge A wheelchair-bound Indiana man arrested on charges he raped and beat a 41-year-old Palm Bay woman will go to court later this month to determine if he failed to register as a convicted sex offender while living in the state for nearly two years. Louie Sistrunk, 40, is charged with sexual battery and failure to notify authorities of his sexual offender status and new address. He was convicted in 1996 of raping a 13-year-old girl he coaxed from a movie theater in Indiana. Sistrunk threatened to kill a woman, put her in a headlock and forced her to perform a sex act. |
Texarkana, Arkansas man facing kidnapping and rape charges A Texarkana, Arkansas man is behind bars for allegedly kidnapping and raping a young woman. Police say 40-year old Derrick Wayne Patton held a 24-year old woman, an acquaintance, captive for two days while he beat, choked and sexually assaulted her. Investigators say the victim also had minor knife wounds. There were three young children at home during the time of the attacks. They were not hurt. |
Judge to rule whether jury tainted in Calhoun rape case Stanley Bradley, 40, of Beech Tree Road, was found guilty on March 3 of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree burglary and kidnapping in the 2004 rape of a Calhoun County woman. On each charge, Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein sentenced Bradley to 25 years but he may get a new trial, depending upon a circuit court judge's ruling on a defense motion of possible jury prejudice. |
Bail Denied for Suspect in Deadly Md., Del. Shooting Spree; Suspect Mutters, Curses Through Hearing A man charged with murder in a shooting spree that left two dead was denied bail at a hearing during which he muttered and cursed.Allison Lamont Norman, 22, seemed agitated and distracted in court, muttering to himself and uttering a string of profanities as he sat shackled and surrounded by guards, prompting the judge to threaten to muzzle Norman at future hearings. "He is a threat to the community," said the judge in denying bail. Norman was arrested after a series of shootings that left two dead and four wounded. Ohio Police Search For Man Suspected In String Of Sexual Attacks (rapes) Police are looking for a man who is suspected in at least three sexual assaults that took place in Central Ohio. Quan Randolph Jordan was released from jail in 2003. Police said that Jordan, 40, was linked to one sexual assault. Then police said he attacked two women early Saturday in northeast Columbus. The two women, who are sisters, claimed they were kidnapped, robbed and sexually assaulted from Albany Club Apartments. One of the women was allegedly forced to withdraw money from an automatic teller machine. The sisters then claimed they were sexually assaulted (raped). - (Gman) |
New Orleans: Police Seek Kenner Rape Suspect NEW ORLEANS -- Kenner police are looking for Chris Powell, aka "Smooth," who faces charges of aggravated rape and aggravated battery. Powell is accused of raping a woman at gunpoint after pistol-whipping her boyfriend at the boyfriend's home. After the attack, Powell fled on a dark-colored, 10-speed bicycle. His criminal history includes arrests for aggravated assault of a police officer, resisting an officer, aggravated crime against nature, cruelty to a juvenile and drug offenses. Powell has the name "Christina" tattooed on his right arm, a picture of a bulldog on his chest, and the words "F--- the world" across his stomach.

Sex offender charged in Winterbottom rape-slaying faces additional kidnapping charge   Convicted sex-offender Gerald T. Montgomery kidnapped Laura Winterbottom (google) before he beat, raped and strangled the 31-year-old Burlington woman in her car March 8, prosecutors allege. Penelope Wall said she was about to get into her sister's car when she was approached by a short, dark-skinned male who asked her if she knew where he could get some "pot." Wall said she told the man "no" and got into the car, where her sister was waiting. Winterbottom's body was found March 9 in her 2001 Ford Focus, which was parked behind an unoccupied residence. Court papers say she was repeatedly sexually assaulted, beaten with a blunt object and strangled. Two suspects sought in connection with the death of 24-year-old Nicholas Densmore  Two suspects sought in connection with the death of 24-year-old Nicholas Densmore have apparently had a number of run-ins with police but criminal history checks reveal no felony convictions. Densmore's body was found in the street at 35th and Saratoga last week.
Warrants have been issued for Marqus E. Douglas and Paul K. James. | Shonda Walter, who is black, is accused of hatchet murder of 83-year-old James Sementelli, who was a White WWII veteran He survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, now, more than sixty years later, he's a murder victim. Shonda Walter was charged last year with killing her 83-year-old neighbor with a hatchet and stealing his car and some $500 in quarters. Police allege Shonda Walter killed James Sementelli, 83, 17 N. Reginald Andre Wright stands accused of raping two 13-year-old girls Reginald Andre Wright stands accused of raping two 13-year-old girls, and both cases are now headed for the grand jury. Both incidents happened in Centreville homes. According to police, the first one took place in the home of the alleged victim. As a result, Wright was charged on Feb. 10 with carnal knowledge of a minor — also known as statutory rape. The Jan. 29 incident involved the Lorton girl, who was spending the night at a Centreville friend's home — not far from Wright's residence. While she was there, say police, Wright also visited the home overnight. |
School Custodian Charged With Having Sex With Student Adam Eugene Smith of Hillsborough is charged with 11 counts of felony sex offense. Investigators believe he had sex with a student at Cedar Ridge High School. Smith was arrested Tuesday and was released after promising to appear in court April 22. Smith started with Orange County schools as a bus driver in August 2001 and became a school custodian in March 2003.
