A STOLEN GENERATION IN AMERICA?
by H. Millard © 2008

Did you kiss your children and tuck them into bed last night or did the government come in and steal them from you?

Too many busybodies, who suffer from the diseases of buttinsky and false dogoodism, are always on the lookout to "help" others.  Such folks know what's best for others, you see. They want to look into the private lives of others to make sure they're living the way the busybodies--call them Great White Mothers and Great White Fathers--want them to live, and they want them worshipping the way they want them to worship and they want them to have the same world view and the same opinions with only minor deviations allowed.

Between 1885 and the 1970's, some Great White Mothers and Great White Fathers--with the power of the government behind them--stole the children of Aborigines in Australia and placed them in white families.

It was for the children, you see.  They had to stop child abuse or possible child abuse or potential child abuse or guessed at child abuse or imagined child abuse, don't you know. The kids weren't being raised right.  Weren't being taught right. Some parents even spanked their kids. Good grief, they didn't even wear the same type of clothes as the Great White Mothers and Great White Fathers. And, their religion? Whew, don't ask. Daaahling, it was not at all mainstream or even Christian. The kids had to be taken away from their loving parents and be given to new "parents," who were very different from the real parents, so they could be re-educated. Can't have children growing up believing anything but the current orthodoxy of the masses clustered under the center of the bell curve.

When will we ever learn?

It seems that the  Australian experience is now being repeated in Texas.

The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS) is a peaceful and loving community of people who believe that their religious views are the right ones. You and I may not agree that they have the right religious views, but you and I probably agree that they have the right to believe as they want and live as they want and that we have the same rights. This is America, after all. Haven't we been taught this?  Don't our politicians tell us this?  Are such statements about freedom, just empty rhetoric? And, furthermore, the FLDS doesn't try to force others to believe or live as they live. They just want to live and let live in the land of the free. They just mind their own business and don't bother anyone. Their communities are virtually crime free.

Unfortunately, the State of Texas has now taken 416 children from their FLDS parents.  Of these, 289 are 4 or younger.  The armed troops sent in by the state even drove in with an armored personnel carrier. Videos of the invasion show a scene like something out of WWII. Many  young and very frightened  kids clung to their parents but were forcibly ripped from them and herded on busses from a Baptist Church and sent to what some have called a concentration camp.

Cell phones were then confiscated from the few mothers who were allowed to accompany very young children.  Can't have Rodney King type cell phone images being sent to the outside world. Might cause others to have sympathy for the folks you're trying to demonize.  Might humanize them.  Might conjure up pictures of German concentration camps.

Now, state officials are using the usual Kafkaesque explanations about why the kids were stolen and why the state wants them all put in foster homes.

On its web site, we read this sop from the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS): "Every step taken by Children's Protective Services (CPS) and the court has been done with the goal of doing what is best for the children, getting to the truth, and stopping abuse."

Do you buy that?  If you do, I want to tell you about some weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.  If the DFPS wanted to do what is best for the children, then it would immediately return them to their loving parents and stop this absurd circus.

No doubt, many people believe that the truth of this is that someone is persecuting these peaceful people and has used two apparently hoaxed phone calls (maybe from right inside government, say some), from a "16-year-old girl,"  who has not been found and whose story is patently false, as a pretext to raid the FLDS ranch.

In her telephone calls, the "girl" claimed to be married to a 50 year old man who she said was abusing her at the FLDS property in Texas, and she even named him. Funny thing, though, the man wasn't even living in Texas and he's now told authorities he hasn't been there in many years and doesn't know any such girl.

If there were such phone calls, the DFPS should release recordings of them to the press and to the FBI for a voice analysis. Let's find out who really made the phone calls--if there really were such phone calls at all.

The state has now taken all of the children from the FLDS ranch.  And, this harm being done to all of these parents and children is because of  those two apparently phony telephone calls from what appears to be a fictional person.  Even if one girl were being abused, isn't grabbing 416 children disproportionate and doesn't this seem like a case of the state claiming group guilt?  Oh sure, it was to protect the children.  The truth is that the state can use that excuse to justify any wrong. Remember Waco?  Little kids were burned to death because the state insisted on having troops assault the compound.  Fortunately, the folks on the FLDS ranch just kneeled down and prayed when the troops charged in.

Given this rush to judgment and rush to tear families apart, and given all the demonization of these people, would a reasonable person be unreasonable in wondering if some who have complete control of these impressionable young children may be intentionally or unintentionally planting false memories in the minds of these suggestible children ala the McMartin Day Care abomination in Los Angeles, to justify, after the fact, this horrible invasion of  a peaceful religious community's right to just be left alone.

Remember the absurd McMartin case?  Adults triggered all sorts of false stories from the kids, and too many people believed the false stories about people flying through the air like witches and drinking blood and on and on. Hysteria took over just as it had in Salem in the 1600's, and stories kept getting embellished. Innocent people were accused of all sorts of things.

In the end, it was determined that the allegations against the McMartin Day Care Center were all nonsense started by a mother with emotional problems and it was furthered by kids saying things that they thought the adult investigators wanted to hear or who got movies mixed up with reality or who had thoughts planted in their subconscious minds by those interviewing the kids.

Time will tell if the courts go along with what the DFPS wants, but it appears that some involved with DFPS or the state want to put all these children in foster homes until they are 18 years old. Foster homes? Read: re-education homes, where the children will be re-educated to believe that their parents, their parents' religion and their parents' culture are bad.

You've seen the stories all over the press in the last two weeks.  And, you've probably seen the demonization and propaganda hand of the government in many of the stories that are being planted in the press.

This is the low level to which our country has been driven.

I'm talking about little kids being torn en masse from their grieving parents right before their eyes--in America. This isn't the America I went into the Marines to protect.  This is a foul late term abortion of the America of myth and legend.  This is a disgrace.

If you ask some people, they'll tell you that the reason the state is after the FLDS is  because they're white people who, because of their polygamy, have a very high birth rate and, because they don't believe in miscegenation, are producing too many new white people.

Others will tell you that some who are persecuting the FLDS are born again Christians who hate all Mormons.  Still others will say that it is mainstream Mormons who are embarrassed that the FLDS lives the original teachings of Joseph Smith and is a constant reminder to the world about things that the mainstream Mormons want to hide in their quest to be just as PC as the most generic Christian sect.

Maybe it's a convergence of those with a variety of real and imagined beefs with anyone who is different.

Some will even tell you that all this really is just to protect the children.

At any rate, if you live in Texas and you don't like someone or some minority religion or some group, and if you want to harm them, just pretend you're a 16-year-old girl and drop a dime.

Hey, I don't like the job that President Bush is doing and I want to see an end to the Iraq war. "Hello," I say in a falsetto voice while muffling the phone with my hand as I make the phone call. "Is this Child Protective Services? Like, I'm a 16-year-old girl and I'm being soooo mistreated on a ranch in Crawford, Texas by an old guy named "W".  Please send your armed goons to help me."  Well, that should get us out of Iraq.

So, what about those Aborigines in Australia who had their families torn apart by the government?  Well, finally, in 2008, approximately 123 years after the Australian government started their child stealing tyranny, the government has finally realized that what it did was wrong.

Here's the full text of the apology given by the Australian Parliament to the Aborigines.

February 12, 2008 - 4:40PM

Today we honour the Indigenous peoples of this land, the oldest continuing cultures in human history.

We reflect on their past mistreatment.

We reflect in particular on the mistreatment of those who were stolen generations - this blemished chapter in our nation's history.

The time has now come for the nation to turn a new page in Australia's history by righting the wrongs of the past and so moving forward with confidence to the future.

We apologise for the laws and policies of successive Parliaments and governments that have inflicted profound grief, suffering and loss on these our fellow Australians.

We apologise especially for the removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, their communities and their country.

For the pain, suffering and hurt of these stolen generations, their descendants and for their families left behind, we say sorry.

To the mothers and the fathers, the brothers and the sisters, for the breaking up of families and communities, we say sorry.

And for the indignity and degradation thus inflicted on a proud people and a proud culture, we say sorry.

We the Parliament of Australia respectfully request that this apology be received in the spirit in which it is offered as part of the healing of the nation.

For the future we take heart; resolving that this new page in the history of our great continent can now be written.

We today take this first step by acknowledging the past and laying claim to a future that embraces all Australians.

A future where this Parliament resolves that the injustices of the past must never, never happen again.

A future where we harness the determination of all Australians, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, to close the gap that lies between us in life expectancy, educational achievement and economic opportunity.

A future where we embrace the possibility of new solutions to enduring problems where old approaches have failed.

A future based on mutual respect, mutual resolve and mutual responsibility.

A future where all Australians, whatever their origins, are truly equal partners, with equal opportunities and with an equal stake in shaping the next chapter in the history of this great country, Australia.

-----

How long will it take for the State of Texas and the United States as a whole to apologize to the FLDS and make the peaceful FLDS members whole?   Maybe the FLDS members should ask for reparations.

Hopefully, this time of tribulation will leave the FLDS even stronger, and if there is a God in heaven who cares for those who believe in him, this evil time will pass.

In the meantime, if you want to frighten your children into minding you, don't tell them stories about how the boogey-man will get them.  Just tell them the really terrifying story about how the armed men will break down your doors and take them away on busses with lots of other bad little children and put them in a place where they won't be able to see their mommies and daddies.
