Black man Gets (only) 7 Year Sentence For Fire That Paralyzed (White) Detroit Firefighter
Calvin JonesSamson Wright Brendan Milewski DETROIT - A Detroit man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for his role in a fire that paralyzed a firefighter. Calvin Jones got the punishment in Ann Arbor federal court. He struck a plea deal in August, months after an appeals court found problems with Jones’ trial and threw out his conviction and 15-year sentence. Firefighter Brendan Milewski was paralyzed while trying to extinguish the fire at a commercial building in Detroit in 2010. Many other firefighters were injured. Jones says he filled plastic bottles with gasoline for co-defendant Samson Wright, whose 15-year sentence was also thrown out by the appeals court. Wright and Jones set a fire at a Metro PCS store on Detroit’s east side in 2010. As firefighters battled the blaze, the ceiling and roof of the second floor burned completely through. The second story wall of the structure collapsed on seven firefighters who were attempting to fight the fire. Four firefighters were forced to retire due to their injuries, including Brendan Milewski, who was paralyzed from the waist down. Wright pleaded guilty to malicious use of fire and was sentenced to 15-years in federal prison. He later appealed his sentence, saying it exceeded the seven-year maximum penalty outlined in a plea deal. Officials say no one — including the judge, prosecutors and defendant — realized at the 2011 sentencing that the plea deal included a seven-year maximum. - (Black-on-white)

black maleblack maleblack maleST. LOUIS – St. Louis police are investigating an alleged hate crime in the Bevo neighborhood early this morning that left a 26-year-old woman beaten. According to a police report, at about 5:30 a.m., a Bosnian woman was driving when three black males in their late-teens to early-20s stepped in front of her vehicle. When the woman tried to drive around them, the suspects reportedly pulled out a firearm, so she stopped the car. A suspect grabbed her purse, searched it, and told the others it was empty. All three suspects then fled the scene. St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay responds. “The fact that they did suggest that she was a Bosnian – she was a Bosnian lady. We’ve already turned this over to the FBI.” Slay says he has been meeting with the Bosnian community already to discuss their concerns about safety – this after the hammer attack that killed a 32-year-old man in the Bosnian neighborhood earlier this week. I think it’s just blacks taking their aggression out on anybody that’s white,” he says. “It’s bad, it’s messed up, I hate it.” - (Hatecrimes)

Vagrant ‘stabbed’ NYC vendor with scissors after argument over evolution
Richard PearsonA violent vagrant who has terrorized Soho locals for decades told cops he stabbed a street vendor in the chest with a pair of scissors in June after their discussion about “evolution” got out of hand, according to court documents released Thursday. “We were talking about evolution. I stabbed him to protect myself,” Richard Pearson, 49, nicknamed the “Wildman of SoHo,” told police after the summer attack. Pearson then asked, “How many times did I stab him?” Pearson, 49, who’s racked up more than 23 arrests in 30-plus years, was arraigned Thursday on attempted-murder, assault and possession-of-a-weapon raps. “Not guilty,” were the only words the hulking convict spoke in Manhattan Supreme Court.“He started cussing. He said, ‘F–k you! You’re black! You’re from Africa!’ and tried to push me,” said Batchiri, a father of three who’s originally from Niger, told The Post from the hospital’s emergency room at the time. “He got the scissors and cut me.” Cops chased the wacko into the subway and spotted him clutching the bloody scissors, sources said.

Police ID suspected drug dealer killed by officer
Rumain BrisbonPHOENIX - A suspected drug dealer shot and killed by Phoenix police had a long rap sheet of drug-related and aggravated DUI arrests. Rumain Brisbon, 34, was killed Tuesday night in north Phoenix during a struggle with a police officer outside an apartment complex. The officer had been conducting a burglary investigation when he learned the driver of a SUV was selling drugs at a 7-Eleven convenience store nearby. The officer obtained a description of the suspect and the license plate number and when he ran it through his computer, he got the address of the vehicle's registered owner. When the officer arrived at the address, a person at the apartment complex told him that the occupants of the SUV parked in the vicinity of an apartment unit were selling drugs. As the officer approached, he requested additional units. The driver, later identified as Brisbon, got out of the vehicle and climbed into the rear seat and appeared to be removing something, Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said. As the suspect closed the door, the officer gave several commands for Brisbon to show him his hands, Crump said. Brisbon placed one or both hands in the area of his waistband. Crump said the officer drew his weapon.

  • Black Crime Claims Life of Apologist for Black Crime By Colin Flaherty
David Ruenzel knew, better than most, about the white privilege that killed him. As a writer for the Southern Poverty Law Center, one of this favorite topics was rooting out racism. And how white racism is permanent. White racism is everywhere. And white racism explains everything. This mantra of the Critical Race Theory and the Southern Poverty Law Center applied to all white people because, even if they were not personally cracking the whips, or breaking the skulls, white people benefitted from a racist system that did all that — and a lot more. Ruenzel was writing about white privilege for the Southern Poverty Law Center as far back as 1997 — long before it became the rage at college campuses, newsrooms, churches, high schools and even grade schools. By the time of his death, Ruenzel had accumulated many of the trappings of the white privilege he exposed: The job. The home. The intact family. And most importantly in his case, white privilege endowed Ruenzel with an expectation of safety in the Oakland neighborhood where last week two black people are suspected of killing him.

Grand Jury Declines to Indict NYPD Officer in Eric Garner Chokehold Death: Sources
Eric GarnerDaniel PantaleoA New York City grand jury has declined to indict an NYPD officer in the chokehold case of Eric Garner, the unarmed man who died while being arrested on Staten Island earlier this year. In delivering a vote of "no true bill" Wednesday, jurors determined there was not probable cause that a crime was committed by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo, who was seen on a widely watched amateur video wrapping his arm around Garner's neck as the 43-year-old yelled, "I can't breathe!" during the July 17 confrontation. The father of three's health issues, including obesity, were listed as contributing factors in the autopsy report. Of the 23 members of the Garner grand jury, 14 are white, nine are non-white and at least five are black. Pantaleo is white, and Garner was black. Garner's family, in an effort to thwart tensions, has consistently said race should not be a factor in the case, but protests in Ferguson have raised concerns in New York.

Black Delray man accused of inciting crowd, yelling ‘police should be shot’
Tommy Lee WillisA Delray Beach man was arrested Friday night after police say he tried to incite a riot while officers were dealing with a “shooting in progress” call. Tommy Lee Willis remains in the Palm Beach County Jail on $3,000 bail and faces charges of inciting or encouraging a riot and resisting arrest without violence. Willis began yelling at a Delray Beach police lieutenant as he was giving commands through a patrol car P.A. system to a possibly armed suspect. Willis got so close to the lieutenant that he was forced to stop using the P.A. system “to attend to Willis’ obstructing behavior.” After the shooting suspect was in custody, Willis yelled at officers and repeated several times: “This is not right. You did this because he’s black.” Willis then allegedly turned to a group of about 15 bystanders and said: “The police should be shot. They are the bad guys here.” The report said that Willis encouraged the crowd to riot and that his statements “were clearly meant to cause racial tension in a predominantly black neighborhood.” “You can’t come here and tell people what to do,” Willis shouted at police. “He [shooting suspect] should have shot you.” Records show that Willis has been arrested several times in Palm Beach County and was sentenced to 1 1/2 years in prison in August 2002 for selling cocaine.

Janice Dickinson on Bill Cosby: "He is a monster and ... he raped me"
Bill CosbyJanice DickinsonTwo weeks after telling Entertainment Tonight that Bill Cosby raped her, Janice Dickinson gave an emotional interview on CNN Monday night, in which she recounted the details of the 1982 night when the comedian allegedly sexually assaulted her. Dickinson and Cosby were both attendees at a dinner in Lake Tahoe, Nev., and at one point were left alone. When the model complained of menstrual cramps, Cosby offered her a pill that she didn't recall questioning. "I trusted Bill Cosby," Dickinson said. "Because of his demeanor and the promise of a career, I trusted him." Dickinson recalled taking several Polaroid photos of Cosby wearing a robe (some of which have been released online). "I just remember shooting these pictures and having them on me the next morning when I woke up. The last thing I remembered — I had blacked out — [was] Cosby mounting me like the monster that he was. And I was thinking, 'What the heck?'" Dickinson said. "I remember passing out, but I remember more specifically waking up and that he — there was a lot of pain downstairs," Dickinson said, tearing up. "There was semen all over me and my pajama bottoms were off and the top was open. And at that point, fight or flight, I just packed up and got the hell out of there." - (Black-on-white)

Pitts: Prison may provide Hobbs with structure
Cedric Theodis Hobbs Jr., 29, and Alexis MattocksKyle HarrisIf ever the facts of the case were a problem for the defense, it's the case playing out in room 4A of Cumberland County Superior Court, involving accused killer Cedric Hobbs Jr. Through his lawyer, Hobbs, who is 33, admitted, even before the jury was seated, that in the late afternoon of Nov. 6, 2010, he pointed a .380-caliber handgun at teenager and college student Kyle Harris and shot him to death. He admitted that he robbed the Cumberland Pawn Shop on Grove Street. Hobbs and his girlfriend, Alexis Mattocks, who pleaded guilty in the crime and has been sentenced to life, went to Washington, D.C., where police stopped them for driving Harris' stolen car. He put her car in reverse and tried to run her over. But Lane was lying on a mound of dirt, which Thompson mistook for her body. He would later tell police he ran over her when he didn’t. Lane lived for another 10 minutes, according to the coroner who examined her. When police found her two days after the murder, they could tell she had turned herself over. Her back was arched, her eyes stared vacantly into the sky. Even today, lawmen said they can remember the horror on Lane’s face when they first saw her.
