In prison, Nikko Jenkins was deemed too dangerous to mix with other inmates In the two years before his release into the general population of Omaha, Nikko Jenkins wasn't even released into the general population of his prison. The main reason: He was too dangerous to mix with other inmates. Yet prison administrators launched him from their most extreme confinement — a segregated cell where he spent 23 hours a day — into the Omaha community. They did so despite warnings from Jenkins' family, friends, judges, psychiatrists, prosecutors, Parole Board staff, even Jenkins himself. In an email two months before Jenkins' release, Trudy Clark, an administrative assistant to the Nebraska Parole Board, wrote the director of the state corrections' mental health unit. “This email is written from a personal level only,” Clark wrote. “Why isn't Nikko Jenkins in the mental health unit? The board is getting letters from him that he is going to eat people, specifically Christians and Catholics. This is only one of many bizarre letters the board has gotten from him. Is he being evaluated for a mental health commitment? As a taxpayer, this guy scares me to death!” |

Knockout: Police warn of multiple, random attacks in downtown Denver early New Year's Day by black males DENVER - Police are warning the public after three separate, random attacks occurred within 45 minutes in downtown Denver early New Year's Day. Police said a total of four people were assaulted. In each incident, the victims were knocked down or knocked out by groups of black males, police said. One victim described a blitz attack where the assailants appeared out of nowhere, striking without warning. "It was just like that," Nick Lloyd said. "I didn't see anybody. I didn't hear anything. Nobody said anything to me." Lloyd said he was waiting for a ride with a friend near 20th and Market streets when they were both punched in the face. The blow fractured his face in several places and broke his jaw on both sides. "Basically my whole cheek is caved in," he said, pointing to his swollen and bruised face. Denver police said it's one of three attacks that happened downtown between 1:30 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. following New Year's Eve celebrations. The assaults happened at 20th and Larimer streets, 20th and Market streets and in the 1600 block of Blake Street. "All we have is assaults by black males, so we need more details. That's why we're asking for the community's help," said Denver Police Department Sonny Jackson. - (Black-on-white) |

Three arrested in Chauvin woman's shooting death Three men were arrested Thursday night in connection with the shooting death of a 25-year-old Chauvin woman last month, authorities said. Charged with first-degree murder are Du’Quain Vincent, 21, and Jalen Francis, 19, and Zacchaeus Vincent, 19, according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. They tried to sell Elizabeth Davis, and her boyfriend, Jimmy John Scott, illegal drugs. Francis shot and killed Davis as she sat inside her car. Francis also shot Scott in the hand. Du’Quain Vincent had made arrangements for Zacchaeus Vincent and Francis to sell the couple drugs. It was unclear whether the Vincents are related. The couple — with Scott in the driver’s seat and Davis in the passenger seat — met Zacchaeus Vincent and Francis in Smithridge, Foret said. Francis then tried to rob them at gunpoint and fired multiple shots as they fled, Foret said. “He (Francis) pistol-whipped me,” Scott said in an interview the day after the shootings. “He shot like eight times, and one of the bullets hit Elizabeth.” The couple fled in a car to Marty J’s convenience store in search of help. Davis was dead when deputies and medical personnel arrived, police said. She had been shot once in the torso. “Her last words were ‘I got shot,’ ” Scott said. “I tried to shake her head, but she was already dead.” - (Black-on-white) Authorities were searching for a fourth suspect, Desmond Verdin, 17, Thursday night but determined this morning that he was not involved, Foret said. (White) Good Samaritan faces paralysis after being pistol whipped and raped by black who she gave a lift to hospital A 26-year-old Florida woman may never walk again after her kind gesture to offer a stranger a ride to the hospital turned into a nightmare attack that has ruined her life. Tallahassee-resident Katie Schlinger told her traumatic story - revealing details about the night she offered to drive a stranger to the hospital before 'he physically and sexually attacked her'. Ms Schlinger says she fought back and escaped with her life, but two spinal surgeries later, she still can't use her right arm or walk on her own. And since she's uninsured, she already owes one hospital $250,000 and is about to be kicked out of a third. It all goes back to December 20 when Ms Schlinger was in Aiken, South Carolina, to support her brother as he underwent open heart surgery. She was smoking a cigarette in the car at the nearby Quality Inn around 4am when she was approached by 23-year-old Michael Antwon Fuller who asked her for a cigarette and the two started talking about their relatives in the hospital. Fuller told her he was worried about his uncle at the hospital and wondered if she wouldn’t mind driving him up there so he could see him. ‘Yeah I’ll give you a ride if you promise not to hurt me,’ she joked, agreeing to drive him since the hospital was only four minutes away and Fuller was clean cut, well-spoken and well dressed... he allegedly hit her face with the mouth of his gun... Outside of the car, she says he pointed his gun at her and forced her to perform oral sex. - (Black-on-white) |
