Sociopathic black brute who attacked strangers & White female police officer with hammer is unapologetic
David BarilLauren O’RourkeThe raging brute who used a black claw hammer to attack four strangers — including a young female cop — in Manhattan in 2015 couldn’t muster even an apology to his victims as he was sentenced to 22 years in prison Wednesday. Justice Michael Obus asked defendant David Baril, 32, whether he had anything to say. “Nah,” he answered in Manhattan Supreme Court. Baril previously copped to attempted aggravated assault on a police officer and three counts of second-degree assault as part of a plea. Assistant District Attorney Courtney Groves described Baril’s “brief but substantial reign of terror” that began May 11, 2015. The hammer-wielding hobo admitted that he first struck a 20-year-old man in the back of the head near West 35th Street and Sixth Avenue. Baril then made his way south to Union Square Park, where he randomly whacked in the head a 28-year-old woman seated on a bench and bashed a 33-year-old woman near West 17th Street. Two days later, eagle-eyed Police Officer Lauren O’Rourke recognized him in Hell’s Kitchen from NYPD “wanted” photos and approached him, Groves said. The psycho lost it and chased her into a busy intersection, battering her with the hammer. His rampage came to an end when O’Rourke’s partner, Geraldo Casaigne, shot Baril four times. - (Black-on-white)

After the sentencing hearing Thursday, Dorman said, "I think he should have been put away for a lot longer." "I'm very fortunate I'm able to speak, to see Dante get the sentence he did," Dorman said, "Police officers are a target in this country and world today, and I think stricter sentences are needed for crimes against law enforcement." Dorman has recovered after multiple surgeries and returned to police duty. Island served about nine years in federal prison on a gun conviction before his release in 2013. Her dining room and her teenage son’s bedroom window overlook that alley. McCain said both she and her son saw the act. To make matters worse, McCain told Action News Jax she feels like officers downplayed the situation when she called them. “I figure, OK, I got footage, and it’s done in front of a minor, he’s going to get arrested,” she said. “No, that didn’t happen.” McCain said the officer instead told the couple to leave but didn’t make any arrests. She said the officer also did not want to see the video when she offered to show it to him. “I was very upset,” said McCain. She said she emailed the video to JSO. McCain believes if the man had been charged, he might have stayed away. Instead, she said, he came back, and she’s worried for her family’s safety.

(Black) Mechanicsville woman again faces first-degree murder charge in Walmart shooting of a (White) woman
Brittany WigginsAshley FrickeA Mechanicsville woman is once again facing a first-degree murder charge in a fatal shooting at an Ashland Walmart parking lot this year. A Hanover County grand jury on June 20 indicted Brittany Lashea Wiggins on a murder charge in connection with the killing of Ashley Fricke, 25, of Caroline County. A Nov. 13 jury trial has been set. In May, General District Court Judge Hugh S. Campbell dismissed the original murder charge against Wiggins, finding there wasn’t probable cause to support it. After that ruling, prosecutors decided to seek a first-degree murder indictment directly from a grand jury, said R.E. “Trip” Chalkley III, the Hanover commonwealth’s attorney. Wiggins, 25, also faces three other charges — maliciously shooting at a vehicle, using a firearm while committing a felony and firing from a vehicle during the Feb. 18 incident. - (Black-on-white)

Interracial Duo (Hispanic female and black man) convicted of Eagle Township murder charged in (White) Lansing man's death
Alexis Pena and Dominique HarrisJeffery KeblerLANSING - 62-year-old Eagle Township resident Jeffrey Kebler was brutally murdered inside his home. Ballinger, Martinez and Harris — Pena’s fiance — all eventually reached plea deals of their own, and were each sentenced in April 2016 to at least 30 years in prison. • Footprints on a fallen officer’s grave lead to arrest of four teens
Janice Smarr grieves every day after her son was shot to death in the line of duty last year. Earlier this week at Oak Grove Cemetery, Smarr noticed something was amiss on the shiny, black granite marker on the grave of Americus police officer Nicholas Smarr. “I saw the footprints on the grave before we even got out of the car,” Smarr said Thursday morning. “He already died for the city. He needs to lie in peace.” A family member set up a camera in the cemetery to try to determine what was going on after they detected possible vandalism. When Smarr arrived at her son’s grave Wednesday morning, there was mud and other things on it, Americus Police Chief Mark Scott said. “There were footprints on the grave, so that was obviously intentional,” Scott said.
A review of the photographs showed four teens had visited the grave after midnight. One of them spit on the grave, Smarr said. Officers identified the suspects very quickly. “They’re very good pictures,” Scott said. “They were all known to officers.” Kaheem D. Chambers, 17, of Americus, was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing along with three 16-year-old girls, whose identities have not been released due to their ages. “I think my son had arrested him before,” Smarr said. “It’s just very disrespectful and he probably did it because he just got out of jail and he was mad at the police.” Chambers was booked back into the jail after the incident, Scott said. On Dec. 7, 2016, Smarr, 25, was fatally shot along with his best friend, Georgia Southwestern police officer Jody Smith, 25, who died the day after the shooting. Commenters on Facebook are trying to interject race into the arrests, but Smarr said that has nothing to do with it. “We didn’t care if they were white, black or Mexican,” she said. “We didn’t want anyone messing with his grave.” Smarr visits the cemetery daily and pledges to press charges against anyone who desecrates her son’s final resting place. “I don’t want them to dance on my son’s grave,” she said. “If I have to put 10 more people in jail, I’ll just put 10 more in jail.”

George Simms Jr. was taken into custody by U.S. marshals Thursday morning in Delray Beach, Boynton Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said. He faces one count of sexual battery. According to a Boynton Beach police report, the teenage girl told police that she was raped by Simms in February 2016. Joshua BeasleyDaniel Kitchen and his half-brother, David MadumeluYOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown police said a witness helped tie two men from Columbus to the killing a Masury man near the Four Seasons Flea Market last November. Police said they also shot two women on Youngstown’s south side the next day in an attempt to cover up Beasley’s murder. • Rev. Sylvestre Obwaka Found Not Guilty Of Sexual Assault
A Presque Isle County jury has decided Father Sylvestre Obwaka is not guilty of the sexual assault of a fellow priest, who was sleeping in his home in February. The verdict was handed down Thursday evening. 9&10's Aaron Parseghian was in court Thursday where Obwaka took the stand in his own defense. Before the jury acquitted him of first and third degree sex crimes, Father Sylvestre Obwaka told his side of the story on the witness stand. He says he had consensual sex with the alleged victim. In closing arguments, the defense said the alleged victim only sought charges because he was ashamed of what had happened. “He was disgusted with himself, well of course he'd feel that way even after consensual sex, he broke his vows, he sinned, he wants a loophole out of mortal sin,” said Defense Attorney Matthew Wojda

Keon Torrance Gladdena blue pit bull - from Google images - not the same dog as in storyGREAT FALLS, SC. A Great Falls man was arrested last week, almost a week after a chained dog choked to death trying to get to shade in his yard, according to a Great Falls Police Department report. Keon Torrance Gladden, 23, has been charged with ill treatment of animals, jail records show. Great Falls police responded to a report of animal cruelty at a Walnut Street house on July 10 at about 5:15 p.m., the report says. The complainant told officers he believed the dog was being mistreated and told police he had checked on the dog many times before, the report says. He said found the dog dead in the yard just before 5 p.m., bloating and covered in flies and maggots, the report says. The dog, a blue pit bull, was chained to a pole in the yard with a belt for a collar and very little shade, the report says. The temperatures for the day were in the mid to upper 90s, officers said. The dog choked to death while trying to crawl to a nearby bush for shade, the report says. Officers said there were two bowls near the dog, but the food bowl was upside down and the water bowl was dry and dusty, the report says. There was a dog house in the yard, but the dog’s chain was too short to reach it, the report says.

'Bizarre': Black Woman, 65, Steals Taxi, Picks Up Unaware Mother & 10-Month-Old: Philadelphia Police
Betty Thomas A woman with a limp who asked to be taken to a Philadelphia casino turned from taxi passenger to cabbie overnight in what investigators call "a bizarre story." "It's a pretty unusual job to steal a cab and then start picking up passengers like you’re a cab driver," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. A Freedom Taxi driver picked up 65-year-old Betty Thomas at her home around 10:30 p.m. and began to take her to SugarHouse Casino. En route, Thomas asked to be stop for water at a gas station. The duo then spends about an hour in the cab. Eventually Thomas and driver begin to argue -- police say over a fare dispute -- and Thomas slams her hands on the hood of the car, video shows. "At some point the female was able to jump into the driver seat of the cab and take off, stealing the cab," Small said.

Thugs attack churchgoer, force her to perform oral sex - 4th black arrested
Isiah Shorter Julisses Ginel, Brandon Walker and Justin Williams The fourth and final suspect wanted for the horrific sex attack on a Queens churchgoer last week turned himself in Friday, police sources said. Isiah Shorter, 20, scowled and stared at the ground as two detectives led him out of the 112th Precinct station house for his arraignment Friday evening — after surrendering to cops in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, that morning. Shorter has been on the run for more than a week since the brutal July 11 gunpoint robbery and sexual assault, but looked defeated as he plodded out of the precinct in a pair of Air Jordans, refusing to comment. Three of Shorter’s pals — Brandon Walker, 20, Justin Williams, 17, and 19-year-old Julisses Ginel — had already been arrested and charged with first-degree criminal sexual act, robbery and first-degree sexual abuse. The four suspects lived in a homeless shelter in Jamaica, just blocks away from where authorities say they pulled a gun on the 50-year-old victim as she was walking from the Celestial Church of Christ in Jamaica at 11 p.m. — then forced her to undress and perform oral sex on them.

Baby died in hot car while mom got her hair done, police say
Dijanelle Etta FowlerDEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - The mother of a child found dead inside of a car parked in an Emory Hospital parking deck is facing charges. Dijanelle Etta Fowler, 25, has been charged with second degree murder, concealing death and second degree cruelty to children. Police said around 5 p.m. on June 15, Fowler called 911 from the parking deck and reported a “medical emergency.” Responders found her 1-year-old daughter dead in the back seat. Fowler was taken to the hospital, where she was treated for seizure-like symptoms. DeKalb County investigators say Fowler had driven around with her dead baby for hours. Earlier in the day, they said Fowler left the baby in a running car while she got her hair done. About six hours later, she came out of the Tucker salon and found the baby had suffocated, and the car had cut off. Instead of calling 911, police say their investigation shows Fowler called someone to jump her car.
