(Worthless black man) Arrested for the 1998 murder of (White woman) Rose Born
Dennis Jerome BartieRose Theresa BornLAKE CHARLES, LA - An arrest has been made in the 1998 cold-case homicide of donut shop owner Rose Born. Rose Theresa Born, 45, was found stabbed to death at Paradise Donuts, 529 W. 18th Street, on July 8, 1998. She was killed around midnight and her body was found around 3:30 a.m. Born was stabbed more than 30 times, including defensive wounds on her hands where she fought back, Lake Charles Chief of Police Don Dixon said at a news conference Wednesday afternoon. Born's 1993 Toyota 4-Runner was taken from the scene, but found about four miles away. "I know my sister, she works hard for her money," said Rita Theriot, Born's sister, "That was her stuff, she's going to fight for it." It was that defensive effort that led to an arrest, Dixon said. DNA found under her fingernails was submitted for DNA analysis in September 2015. A match was returned to Dennis Jerome Bartie, 35. Bartie is charged with second-degree murder. Judge Guy Bradberry ordered that he be held without bail. "The poetic justice was that she scratched him, so they found him," Dixon said. Bartie was imprisoned at Allen Correctional Center for a 2006 crime in Baton Rouge in which he was found guilty of second-degree murder for stabbing another woman numerous times, Dixon said. The victim in that case survived. Bartie confessed to the crime and said he had gone to rob her, Dixon said. Upon questioning from detectives, Bartie admitted to killing Born because he needed a ride home, Dixon said. He was only 17 at time of Born's death. Bartie has three outstanding warrants in Calcasieu, Dixon said. After 18 years of searching for answers, Theriot had started to lose hope. "I personally had given up, I figured God knew what happened and I was happy with that," said Theriot, "but today is a wonderful day. We final found closure." - (Black-on-white)

One of the men leaves, but the other man, Yarow, stays with the woman and starts kissing her. From there he puts the woman on the ground and begins to sexually assault until a pedicab driver arrives. The pedicab driver told police he initially offered to give Yarow and the woman a ride home after Yarow told him the woman was his girlfriend. According to the driver, they picked up and put the woman in the pedicab and he started to give both she and Yarow a ride home. When the cab got to Fourth and Guadalupe streets, Yarow took off running. The driver said he asked people at a nearby bus stop to take care of the woman while he pursued the suspect. Yarow ran down into a creek where his wallet was recovered. Police later interviewed the woman who said she had consumed several drinks, cough medicine pills and a small amount of marijuana. During the interview from the hospital, police say she was extremely fearful and confused about what happened to her.

UCLA Killer Mainak Sarkar’s First Victim Was Woman in Minnesota - (before assassinating White professor)
Mainak SarkarAshley HastiWilliam S. KlugLOS ANGELES — A disgruntled Ph.D. student appears to have shot and killed a woman in Minnesota before murdering his professor at UCLA on Wednesday. Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck said Thursday that a woman on Mainak Sarkar’s “kill list” was found dead from gunshot wounds in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. Police reportedly recovered a note from Sarkar's home in Minnesota, which led them to the female victim's location. Sarkar's connection to the victim is unclear. (TMZ reported that the note did not mention Klug.) Sarkar shot and killed 39-year-old Prof. William Klug inside an engineering building before turning the gun on himself Wednesday. According to the Los Angeles Times, Sarkar called Klug a “very sick person” in a since-deleted blog post, writing that he could not be trusted. Klug had been Sarkar’s adviser at the UCLA engineering school and he “expressed gratitude to Klug for his help and support” in a 2013 doctoral dissertation, the newspaper reports.

PD: (Black) Man charged with murder in missing (white) woman's death says 'he made a mistake'
Lashawn Johnson Claudia MartinezAngela RussoPHOENIX - A 25-year-old man charged with the murder of a missing woman who turned up dead admitted knowing the victim and having her at his apartment the night of her disappearance. He also reportedly told police "he made a mistake." Lashawn Young Johnson faces charges of second-degree murder, kidnapping, tampering with physical evidence and abandoning/concealing a body. The charges are in connection with the death of Angela Russo, who was 24 when she disappeared. Russo's body was found in the desert in a shallow grave in Tonopah last week. She had been missing since April 19. Johnson made his initial appearance in court on Sunday. New court paperwork reveals that Russo had been in contact with Johnson, and had arranged to meet him at an apartment near 54th Avenue and Indian School on April 19. Russo's cell phone was last active in the area near Johnson's apartment, and "activity ceased after that time." Detectives arrived at the apartment, where they contacted the apartment's residents, Johnson and Claudia Martinez. Deectives re-contacted Claudia Martinez, who lived with Johnson, more than a month later, on May 25. On that day, police say Martinez led detectives to a desert area in Tonopah where they came upon a vehicle similar to the one driven by Russo. The car had been destroyed by fire. Maricopa Police Department personnel searched the area and found a "clandestine grave" near the burned car. Authorities say they believe the body in that grave was that of the missing woman, Angela Russo. The car found belonged to Russo's parents. Claudia Martinez told detectives that Johnson had shown her the burned car and clandestine grave on April 20, but police say she "claimed no involvement or prior knowledge" of Russo's homicide. Martinez is employed with the Arizona Department of Corrections. Evidence collected at the apartment shared by Johnson and Martinez suggested to detectives that "the apartment was the scene of kidnapping and homicide." The documents go on to say: "the evidence further revealed a concerted effort to destroy, sanitize and conceal physical evidence." Also according to those documents, biological evidence indicated that "the victim was attacked in the corner of the kitchen near the dining room table, appearing to have been trapped in the corner of the dining room." MCSO detectives then re-contacted Martinez, who "disclosed that Lawshawn had called her and admitted to being with Angela on the night of April 19, 2016 and having sex with her." Her daughter met Johnson on a dating website. - (Black-on-white)

Prosecutor announces charging decision in Jamar Clark case
Jamar ClarkMINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota's U.S. attorney says no federal civil rights charges will be filed against two Minneapolis police officers in last fall's shooting death of a black man. Andrew Luger says there is insufficient evidence to support charges against the officers, who had a lethal confrontation with 24-year-old Jamar Clark last November. Luger is the second prosecutor to decline to file charges in Clark's death, following Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman's announcement in March. Clark's death set off weeks of protests on the city's north side, where some witnesses said Clark was handcuffed when he was shot. Freeman said forensic evidence backed up the officers' account that Clark was not handcuffed and that he had his hand on an officer's gun when he was shot.

During the melee that ensued, after François pulled out the pistol, one of Verma’s relatives picked up a tray full of nitric acid — commonly used to clean jewelry — and tossed it in François and Theodore’s faces. The acid left lifelong scars on their faces. François also lost 50 per cent of the vision in one of his eyes. - (Canada)

“I heard the exchange while I’m waiting. ‘I’m going to go in.’ ‘No, you’re not.’ ‘I’m going to go in.’ ‘No, you’re not.’ The mother turns around to her other children,” O’Connor said. The outrage against Gregg has also caused others who share her name to receive angry Facebook messages. One Cleveland mother named Michelle Gregg changed her Facebook profile photo to a picture that says, “This Michelle has never even been to the Cincinnati Zoo!
