Terry Yelvington case: Arrest made in Polk County (black-on-White) homicide
Alfred Ranard Jenkins James "Terry" YelvingtonPOLK COUNTY -- A convicted felon "with a vendetta" was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree murder in the August 2015 killing of a Lake Alfred softball coach, the Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said Friday. Alfred Ranard Jenkins, 54, is accused in the shooting death of James "Terry" Yelvington, 60, found Aug. 11 in front of his home on the 700 block of South Todhunter Way. Jenkins, of Winter Haven, and Yelvington previously had worked at the same company, Packaging Corporation of America. Yelvington, who still worked there, was the president of a workers union and had input in the hiring and firing of employees. During the course of the investigation, several coworkers mentioned Jenkins, who had been fired in 2009 related to his role as union treasurer. After Jenkins' firing, Yelvington found out that Jenkins had stolen union funds and forged union checks. Yelvington reported the crime, which resulted in Jenkins' 2011 arrest for grand theft. An acquaintance said that Jenkins told him that he went to Yelvington's home and had a physical altercation with him in his garage because Yelvington had gotten him fired and arrested. Neighbors later found Yelvington dead near his driveway and told investigators they heard gunshots in the early morning hours of Aug. 11. "Alfred Jenkins drove to Terry Yelvington's house with a vendetta. This convicted felon, who has been in and out of jail in four different states, and to state prison for violent crimes, blamed this hard-working, honest family man for getting arrested and fired, and because of that, he brutally and senselessly murdered Terry Yelvington," Judd said. In addition to first-degree murder, Jenkins is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, armed robbery and tampering with evidence. - (Black-on-white)

Trenton (black-on-White) murder trial ends in shocking acquittal despite DNA evidence
Aaron Marshall is a person of interest.George Hite TRENTON, Mich. - George Hite and Aaron Marshall met at Greektown Casino a few days before the murder, which was their only meeting, according to Marshall. "Cellphone records showed that he had multiple phone calls between his cellphone and the victim's," said Sgt. Mike Oakley, a Trenton police detective. The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office ruled 65-year-old Hite, who was found killed March 11, 2015, was strangled to death. He was a beloved figure in the Downriver community and a well-known youth league baseball ump. Marshall said he had never been Downriver. However, on the suspected day of the murder, Marshall's cellphone pinged a tower near the Woodhaven and Trenton area, which is far from his Detroit home. Marshall's DNA was on the cable used to bind the murder victim. That's something the defense never discredited. "Kind of a slight suggestion that maybe there was some DNA transfer from a couple days prior to the victim's death," said Oakley. No defense witnesses were called. Yet, after 2 and 1/2 hours of actual deliberation on Tuesday, the jury returned a not guilty verdict. "Complete shock. We thought it was a slam-dunk," said Oakley He believes Marshall is a murderer and is concerned that he's "out walking among us." - (Black-on-white)

You're not supposed to be here' or something and that was it," Anderson explained. Anderson said Patton was knocked to the ground and severely beaten. "It completely crushed his entire sinus cavity. Like his -- all the bones under his eyes, his face were all completely crushed," Anderson said. Police said the bad guys who did the crime are still out there on the streets. "I was just very afraid," Michael Patton, the victim's father, said. Michael Patton lives in East Tennessee but said over the phone he has one question for his son's attackers. "Why? Why would you do something like that to somebody that had no reason to be attacking? Doesn't make sense," Michael Patton asked. The alleged racially motivated attack also did not make sense to people who live in that community. Neighbors said although crime happens there, people do not usually beat up others because of their skin color. "He wasn't robbed. There was nothing taken. It seemed to be just a violent hate crime," Anderson concluded. - (Black-on-white) - (Hatecrimes)

  • (African) Man arrested in connection with death of American woman in Italy: Prosecutor
The suspect, Cheikh Tidiane Diaw, was arrested at his home Wednesday night, chief prosecutor Giuseppe Creazzo announced at a press conference. DNA evidence linked to the suspect was found in a condom and on a cigarette at Olsen's house, where Diaw's fingerprints were also found, Creazzo said. Diaw had taken Olsen's phone and put his SIM card in it, and was using the device when he was arrested, the prosecutor said. Police believe that Olsen and Diaw, an illegal immigrant from Senegal who was born in 1988, had met at the city's Montecarla nightclub and left to go back to Olsen's place together, where they had consensual sex, Creazzo said.

Her beloved dog was at her side in its own urine and feces. It was likely a drug-fueled one-night-stand gone wrong. An autopsy revealed that Olsen had sex before she was killed, and there were no signs on her body that she had put up a fight.

(Black) Attempted murderer sentenced, married (to white woman) on same day
Tyrone Lamonte AllenTrisha RomeroPORTLAND, Ore. — Tyrone Lamonte Allen walked into a courtroom with his hands and feet shackled. He wore the county’s standard blue innate uniform. Friends and family sat in the galley. Two corrections deputies escorted Allen to his seat at the defendant’s table. He sat next to his criminal defense attorney. To his right was the senior deputy district attorney who would soon be asking a judge to sentence Allen to 10 years in prison. The wedding that took place Friday inside the Multnomah County Courthouse was certainly very unusual. In November, Allen, 24, was convicted by a jury on charges of attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is a documented Rollin’ 60’s gang member. After the sentencing, Silver directed the 5-minute wedding ceremony between Allen and Trisha Romero. It was a typical wedding ceremony, except for the fact that Romero and Allen were not allowed to touch each other or exchange rings.

A notebook entry was found in the bedroom saying that White was unfaithful in their relationship. White's grandmother told deputies that despite being in a relationship with Green, White was married to a Romanian man, identified as Alexandru Nicolae. She said the arranged marriage was a business deal for Nicolae to become an American citizen. White was being paid $500 a month by Nicolae for the deal, the report said.     Parents of Toddler Found Wandering Barefoot in LOVE Park Face Eviction
Angelique Roland, 27, and Michael JonesAfter raising money to provide housing for the homeless parents of a toddler who was found wandering barefoot in LOVE Park last year, a Philadelphia ministry is close to evicting the couple. “This couple doesn’t want change,” said Brian Jenkins of CHOSEN 300. “What they want is a free ride. And we’re all out of free rides. We’re interested in providing avenues to people that want to try to get up.” Last October Mike Jones’ and Angelique Roland’s 2-year-old son Jeremiah was found wandering alone and barefoot in LOVE Park. Jones and Roland told police they had been kicked out of a home and had spent the night in a cardboard box near LOVE Park’s visitor’s center and Jeremiah had wandered off while they were sleeping. Jeremiah as well as his 4-year-old sister were then placed in DHS custody. After an outpouring of support from the public, CHOSEN 300, an inter-denominational Christian ministry that helps the homeless, launched a campaign to raise $12,000 to secure housing for the couple for one year. Yet barely 11 weeks into the lease, the group announced they had to end the commitment and evict the couple.

Illegal Alien: ‘Demons in His Head’ Made Him Murder Girlfriend in Florida Forest
Marco PerezAn illegal immigrant, who told police that “demons in his head” ordered him to kill his girlfriend, was arrested for her murder, authorities in Florida report. Marco Perez, a Guatemalan national living in the U.S. illegally, was arrested for the murder of 25-year-old Idelcira Perez, whose body was found in a patch of woodlands off Apalachee Parkway in Tallahassee, Florida. Police were alerted to the murder by the suspect himself who called police, telling them the woman was dead. The suspect initially told police that two armed, masked men forced him at gunpoint to beat his girlfriend and then bury her in the woods. Perez then led officers to the woman’s body. But the illegal immigrant’s story quickly fell apart when he then admitted to police that the two masked men “were actually demons in his head telling him what to do,” according to court documents. Eventually Perez admitted that he and the woman got in an argument about his infidelities, and he began punching her in the face. He said he dragged her into the woods and continued beating her until she stopped moving. He then tried to cover her body with tree limbs and leaves.

Prosecutors to Seek Death Penalty (for Hispanic) in 1980 Murders of two women
Abraham Cruz JrProsecutors said they will seek the death penalty against a man charged in the murders of a mother and her teenage daughter during a burglary in Pennsylvania more than 3 decades ago. Abraham Cruz Jr., 55, was charged in August with criminal homicide, conspiracy, burglary and arson in the August 1980 slayings of 17-year-old Deborah Patterson and her 41-year-old mother, Nancy Patterson. Authorities said a pair of masked men broke into the home outside Gettysburg and set fire to the kitchen, then shot the two victims as they tried to flee. Nancy Patterson's husband was also shot, but survived. Erasmo Cruz, Abraham Cruz's uncle, pleaded guilty earlier to third-degree homicide in the case after he was extradited from Puerto Rico. Authorities have alleged that he told police in an interview last year that he saw his nephew shoot the victims.
