    Woodfork found guilty in woman's fatal beating, rape
Tyrone Dale David WoodforkBob and Nancy StraitA man was found guilty of first-degree murder, rape, robbery and other charges late Friday in connection with the fatal assault on an elderly Tulsa woman and the beating of her husband during a home invasion. A Tulsa County jury recommended a life sentence for Tyrone Dale David Woodfork on the first-degree murder charge and returned to the courtroom for a sentencing phase for the other convictions. Woodfork was also found guilty of two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of robbery, and single counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and burglary in connection with the home-invasion robbery and attacks on 84-year-old Nancy Strait and her 89-year-old husband, Bob Strait, on March 14, 2012. - (Black-on-white)

The teenager, Aazis Richardson, shot his 47-year-old cab driver twice after the latter refused to heed the shortcut route that the teen wanted the cab driver to take. The frustrated teen believed he was being ripped off by the cab driver and fatally shot him. - (Black-on-white)
   

    Black named 'White arrested in fatal Rockford hit-and-run had prior DUIs

WhiteDavid LogtermanROCKFORD — A man charged in the fatal hit-and-run crash that killed 57-year-old David Logterman has a history of DUI convictions and could get up to 30 years in prison if convicted of the most serious allegations facing him. George J. White, 46, who is originally from Rock Island, also goes by the name George White Jr. and may have used other aliases in the past. He was arrested shortly after the crash, which happened before 5 a.m. Tuesday near the YMCA on Route 251. Logterman was on his way to work at SwedishAmerican Hospital at the time of the crash. He was employed at the hospital as an MRI technician. Logterman also served 13 years as the head swim coach at Harlem High School. - (Black-on-white)

    Composite sketch released of dredlocked black suspect in fatal shooting of White man outside hospital
Alex Mazzanblack suspectORLANDO, Fla. — On Friday, investigators released a composite sketch of a man suspected in a homicide outside an Orlando hospital. Alex Mazzan was shot and killed in the middle of the campuses of Winnie Palmer Hospital and Orlando Regional Medical Center Monday. He and a friend, Ronald Scott, were leaving after visiting a mutual friend who was injured in a dirt bike accident. Mazzan, 20, was shot after he and Scott got into an argument with a group of men who drove up in a white Nissan Altima on Lucerne Terrace. The shooter has been described as a black man, between 18-23 years old with short dreadlocks. - (Black-on-white)
   

    Sketch released of man wanted for brutal rape in South Memphis
black rapistMemphis police now have a sketch of a man wanted for a rape in South Memphis. The attack happened May 3rd in an abandoned, wooded lot. Neighbors said it is a familiar face, and it’s possible he lives in the area. The man in the sketch is wanted for raping and brutally attacking a 34-year-old woman. Police said her screams were so loud, they woke people up. They said she was injured so badly, she couldn’t speak. Neighbors said the suspect jammed a stick down her throat to try to keep her quiet and threatened to kill her.

    Accused “Blue Line Attacker” turns himself in to police
Leverne BurnetteLeverne BurnetteA man wanted for trying to sexually assault a 19-year-old woman after he followed her on the CTA’s Blue Line has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery. Leverne Burnette, 21, turned himself in to police Thursday night. Police say Burnette was with his family when he walked into the police headquarters at 3510 S. Michigan Ave. at about 7:30pm Thursday and turned himself in.
   

    Arizona inmate charged in 1980 murder
Arlie Tubbs PHOENIX - Authorities have charged a 60-year-old man already serving time with the decades-old murder of a Phoenix woman. Phoenix police say Arlie Tubbs was booked Thursday on one count of first-degree murder in the 1980 death of Matha Chesney. Sgt. Steve Martos says cold case detectives re-tested evidence last year. He says they then gathered enough to indict Tubbs, who was on probation at the time of the crime. Police say Chesney was strangled in her south Phoenix home sometime between Aug. 31 and Sept. 4 of that year. Martos says Tubbs was arrested back then but released due to lack of evidence.

    Toronto police seek two (black) suspects following sexual assault
black rapistsToronto police are asking the public for help identifying two suspects after a woman was sexually assaulted and held against her will for 28 hours last weekend. The 35-year-old woman was walking in the Dundas St. W. and Keele St. area around 12:10 a.m. Sunday when two men in a white car pulled her into their vehicle. The woman was taken to an unknown location where she was sexually assaulted by both men. She escaped 28 hours later in the area of Park Lawn Rd. and The Queensway, police said. The first suspect is described as black, in his twenties, five-foot-eight, and 150 to 170 pounds. He wore glasses, has a tattoo on his left forearm, and has clear retainer-style braces. The second suspect is described as black, between 40 and 55, 200 to 300 pounds, bald with a moustache. - (Canada)

    Dallas mom accused of attempting to drown daughters over snacks
Sonja GardnerA Dallas mother‎ is accused of attempting to drown her two girls in the bathtub because they kept asking her for snacks. "We were fixing to die," said Sonja Gardner's 6-year-old daughter to detectives of what her mother said, according to documents. Gardner, 35, told police she smoked marijuana laced with PCP before the incident. She was arrested and booked at the Dallas County jail on two counts of attempted capital murder.
   

    Cobb man convicted of 4th felony, sentenced to life in prison
Charles Bernard AndersonAn Austell man will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of his fourth felony, the spokeswoman for Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds said today. Charles Bernard Anderson was convicted Thursday in the Oct. 28, 2012, armed robbery of a Waffle House in Cobb County, Kim Isaza said in a news release. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

But two college-age men, including one from metro Atlanta, were arrested over the weekend after refusing to pull their pants up to cover their boxer shorts at a Waffle House in South Carolina, police say. Donovan Johnson and Andrew Gehring, both 22, were each charged with disorderly conduct when deputies were called to the scene shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, a Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office report states.

Williams and his accomplice Jawan Craig came into the restaurant. Williams is the one seen pointing a gun and demanding money. Sitting at the bar area of the restaurant was Justin Harrison, a concealed weapon permit holder, who was armed the night of the robbery. "They're yelling 'everybody get down, get down' and I'm not getting on the floor. I am not going to be a victim," Harrison said. Harrison said while the men terrorized other customers and staff he was deciding when to act. "This was the only time," Harrison said. "If I am going to fight it was that one time. He was approaching me and I saw that as him engaging me." The video shows Williams, gun by his side, walk back toward Harrison, who stands up and fires several shots killing Williams almost instantly. - (Black-on-white)

Marlon LopezLOS ANGELES — A 51-year-old fugitive who was wanted on child molestation charges in Riverside County was captured in Mexico and turned over to federal agents in Los Angeles Thursday afternoon, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Marlon Lopez is accused of numerous sex crimes against his four daughters over a span of about six years. Authorities said it happened at their home in the Riverside area in the 1990s before his wife turned him in.

Angel Aponte-RodriguezA man who allegedly claimed to have a "urination fetish" was arrested and charged on Tuesday after investigators say he exposed himself to nearly a dozen young girls near a middle school in Norristown, Pa. Angel Aponte-Rodriguez, 39, was arrested Tuesday morning along the 1400 block of Markley Street. The location is near Eisenhower Middle School, where police say Rodriguez repeatedly exposed himself to female students between the ages of 12 and 14.


   
  • Mexican Man Who Lived Above Day Care Sentenced for Porn
    Cesar De Jesus Salgado-Maya was sentenced Friday in Superior Court in Camden. The attorney general's office says the 25 year-old Mexican national pleaded guilty April 17 to a charge of offering child pornography. He must register as a sex offender under Megan's Law and could face deportation.
  • Hispanic NJ Man Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Charges
    Federal prosecutors say a northern New Jersey man has admitted sharing images of child sexual abuse from his home computer. Manuel Fernandez faces up to 20 years in prison when he’s sentenced Aug. 19. The 33-year-old Wayne man recently pleaded guilty to distributing child porn online.

   

Hispanic teacher busted for getting female student drunk on a ‘date’
Cesar AlvarezA city high-school teacher was busted Tuesday for taking an underage student on dates to Midtown hot spots — where the girl was freely served wine and mixed drinks despite her age, cops said. Cesar Alvarez, 26, took the 16-year-old, a student at the Felisa Rincon de Gautier Institute for Law and Public Policy in The Bronx, to Carmine’s on West 44th Street on April 15, where the ponytailed lothario bought the girl white wine, a criminal complaint said.

The lawyer for James Rhodes, 22, who's charged with murder in the death of 20-year-old Shelby Farah (pictured), said that's the finding of a psychologist who examined him. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Rhodes, saying he shot and killed Farah after she handed over money in a robbery at the Brentwood store. - (Black-on-white)
   

    4 blacks plead guilty in home invasion that led to fatal shooting of White man
Jeff Joyner Titus Dawson, Dwayne Evans, Christopher Bryan and Kevin HendersonNEW BERN, CRAVEN COUNTY - A man has admitted to shooting and killing a New Bern resident during a home invasion. His three co-conspirators have also admitted to being involved in the crime. District Attorney Scott Thomas announced Thursday that 23-year-old Titus Dawson pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of 46-year-old Jeff Joyner in 2012. Dawson was also convicted of armed robbery, first-degree burglary, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Dawson was sentenced to between 21 to 28 years in prison. In court Wednesday, Dawson apologized to Joyner's three sisters. In addition, Dawson's co-conspirators, 21-year-old Dwayne Evans, 24-year-old Christopher Bryan, and 24-year-old Kevin Henderson pleaded guilty to ransacking and robbing Joyner's home. They each received a sentence of between 12 to 16 years in prison. - (Black-on-white)

On October 9, 2012, McKayla Knight came home to find her boyfriend, Jeremy Priddy, lying dead on the living room floor of their home on Ray Vincent Road, in Brownsville. Family members told us the day he was murdered, his body was found bleeding and beaten. The case was handled at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Military officers and Kentucky State Police combined their efforts toward this investigation. "Robbie Knight plead guilty to premeditated murder and was sentenced to fifty-two years in a military jail, due to the murder of Jeremy Priddy that occurred in Edmonson County. We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the guilty plea, as well as the sentencing," said Trooper Jonathan Biven, Kentucky State Police.

    HIV infected black Kansas City man gets life in prison for raping a 7-year-old
Andrew CanadayA Kansas City man was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for raping a 7-year-old girl in June 2012. Andrew Canaday, 49, was also sentenced to 15 years each for child molestation and for recklessly risking the infection of another person with HIV. According to court documents, the victim and a 9-year-old girl were playing outside in the 9500 block of Charlotte Street when Canaday, known to the victim as “Frog,” grabbed them both by the arm and took them to an upstairs bedroom. After raping the victim, he gave her $2 and the other girl $1 and told them not to tell anyone because it was a secret. Police later found the victim’s panties underneath Canaday’s mattress.

    Black Man Faces 77 Years To Life Behind Bars After Being Found Guilty Of Kidnapping, Sexual Assault Of Girl, 14
Charles Delshawn JamesLANCASTER — A 31-year-old man faces 77 years behind bars after he was found guilty of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl as she walked to school. Charles Delshawn James was found guilty of kidnapping for sodomy, attempted sexual penetration by a foreign object, forcible sodomy of a minor, lewd act on a child age 14 and dissuading a witness by force or threat. The jury, which deliberated for less than two hours, also found true the special allegations of kidnapping a minor and aggravated kidnapping. James faces a 77-years-to-life sentence at a hearing on June 27. On Dec. 13, 2012, James grabbed the victim by her pony tail and dragged her into some bushes where he sodomized her. During the attack he threatened to kill the girl and her family if she said anything.
   

    Dreadlocked black ‘Knockout game’ suspect chased down by victim’s friend
Ibrahim KingA Brooklyn fare-beater allegedly punched a young woman in the face while apparently playing the “knockout game” in a Manhattan PATH station — and her friend chased him down, put him in a chokehold and forced him to apologize, sources said. Ibrahim King, 36, allegedly slugged 21-year-old Elizabeth Mejia, breaking her orbital bone, in the Ninth Street station around 3:40 a.m. Sunday. “He looks at her for a very short moment and then he pulls his right fist back and lunges across the railing and punches her in the face,” said Mejia’s friend Steve Sala. Sala chased and grabbed King, then put him in a chokehold, ripping out one of his dreadlocks in the process.

    Richmond man arrested in connection with attempted abduction of teen girl
Ronald A. Peterson A 50-year-old Richmond man has been arrested in connection with the attempted abduction of a teenage girl May 14 in the 2800 block of Fairfield Avenue, police said today. Ronald A. Peterson of the 900 block of Derrymore Road was taken into custody without incident and charged with attempted abduction, police said in a news release. Police said the girl was walking about 3:30 p.m. when she was grabbed from behind after noticing a vehicle drive past her a few times. The suspect told her to get in his vehicle, but she was able to run to safety.

Rabbis indicted in kidnapping conspiracy
Mendel EpsteinFive Orthodox Jewish men — four of them rabbis — were indicted by a federal grand jury in New Jersey Thursday on charges of conspiring to kidnap Jewish men and force them to grant their wives religious divorces, known as “gets.” Rabbis Mendel Epstein, Martin Wolmark, Jay Goldstein and Binyamin Stimler had previously been charged, along with others, with conspiracy to commit kidnapping in a 2013 complaint. Epstein’s son, David Epstein, was the fifth man named in the conspiracy indictment.

    RIVERSIDE: Arrest made after woman’s dismembered body found near tracks
Christopher Marcus BrownJamie Lea HarmerRiverside police have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the killing of a Minnesota woman, whose dismembered remains were found scattered inside plastic bags alongside railroad tracks on April 27. On Tuesday, Riverside resident Christopher Marcus Brown was arrested in connection with the slaying of Jamie Lea Harmer, 32, a transient, Riverside Police Department Sgt. David Amador wrote in a press release. Harmer’s last permanent address was in Thief River Falls, Minn. She had been in Riverside since early March. - (Black-on-white)

    Driver facing charges in Clearwater crash that killed crossing guard, injured 2 girls
Julious JohnsonDoug CareyCLEARWATER -- A crossing guard was killed and two young girls were injured in a Clearwater crash Tuesday morning in which the at-fault driver and father of the girls fled the scene and was later arrested, police said. The crossing guard, retired Clearwater police officer Doug Carey, was struck and thrown while standing on the northwest corner of Gulf to Bay Boulevard and Belcher Road around 9 a.m. Carey, 70, was a Clearwater officer from 1968 through 1987 and has worked as a crossing guard for the last few years. He was well established in the community and had a wife and adult children. 28-year-old Julious Johnson was driving a black Cadillac at a high rate of speed around 9 a.m. and ran a red light at Belcher Road. The Cadillac collided with a Honda that was traveling in the opposite direction and turning north. That caused the Cadillac to leave the road and strike Carey, who was standing near a concrete pillar at the sidewalk adjacent to the intersection. Two preschool girls, ages 2 and 4, were riding in the Cadillac, and the older girl was ejected. Johnson got out of the car, handed the younger child to a stranger, saying "please take care of my child," and fled the scene. - (Black-on-white)

They made the announcement Wednesday afternoon as the alleged gunman, Charles McQuarter III, pleaded not guilty during a brief court appearance before state District Judge Sterling Snowdy. A grand jury charged McQuarter, 22, with first-degree murder of Steven Finckbeiner, 63, and attempted first-degree murder of Connie Finckbeiner, 58. A second suspect, Dracier Dewey, 22, of Reserve, was charged with being a principal to second-degree murder and a principal to attempted first-degree murder.     Change of plea expected in 2010 postal worker murder case

A federal court judge ruled in January 2014 that Chastain Montgomery, 49, is mentally capable of standing trial in the case of a fatal shooting of two Mid-South post office workers. Investigators say Montgomery, with the help of his son, shot and killed Judy Spray and Paula Robinson during a Henning, Tenn. post office robbery in October 2010. Chastain Montgomery Jr., 18, was killed in a shootout with police a few months later. After a police chase, authorities jailed his father on charges related to the shootout.
   

    Three charged in death of man whose body found in retention pond

Jester in north Houston, Jimmy Boyd was reported missing by his sister who contacted authorities after she suspected foul play. "He was a laid-back gentleman. He would give you the shirt off his back," said longtime friend, David Reed. Friends say Boyd, 60, had been having marital problems and was estranged from his wife. They say he went missing the day he was supposed to transfer the deed to their home over to his sister. "When I dropped him off Tuesday, he said if anything happens to me, they did it," Reed said. The people Reed is referring to are 19-year-old Cierra Jacobs, 17-year-old Carino Ratcliff and Jacobs' boyfriend, 20-year-old Juan Lopez. Jacobs and Ratcliff are Boyd's step-grandchildren, who family members say he helped raise. The trio is now charged in his death.     Suspect in girl's murder accused of unlawful sex acts with a minor
Granville Ashanti RitchieTEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - A suspect in the killing of 9-year-old Felecia Williams was charged early Thursday morning with unlawful sex acts with a minor. The charges are related to another juvenile victim, a potential witness in the murder investigation. Granville Ashanti Ritchie was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Pinellas County on unrelated drug charges by the U.S. Marshals Service, said Temple Terrace Police Chief Kenneth Albano. Ritchie, 35, who is also known as Trevor, has not been charged in Williams’ slaying. Felecia disappeared Friday while with a family friend. Her naked body was found the next day in Tampa Bay near the Courtney Campbell Causeway.

    Mom who drove children into ocean in Daytona Beach gives birth
Ebony WilkersonDAYTONA BEACH — The mother accused of attempted murder after driving her minivan with her three children inside into the ocean has given birth at Halifax Health Medical Center, an attorney said. Ebony Wilkerson, 32, gave birth, said John Hager, an attorney representing Wilkerson’s husband Lutful Ronjon. Wilkerson was charged with three counts of attempted second-degree murder and three counts of child abuse. She was arrested on March 7, three days after videos showed the van she was driving plowing into the rough surf off Daytona Beach. Rescuers rushed to get the screaming kids from the van, which was being battered by the waves. According to sheriff’s reports, Wilkerson tried to hinder rescue efforts and the children said their mother was trying to kill them and “acting like a lunatic.”

Isidro GarciaNeighbors at an apartment complex in Bell Gardens, where a man is alleged to have lived with a woman he kidnapped a decade ago, were in disbelief when they heard he had been arrested. The neighbors at the small, two-story building insisted that Isidro Garcia was a good husband who cared for his family. The 42-year-old Garcia was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of raping and kidnapping his girlfriend’s 15-year-old girl 10 years ago. Police allege that Garcia drugged and kidnapped the girl and beat her when she tried to flee.


 


    Authorities make second arrest in Iberville Parish camp murder of White man

The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Darrell Georgetown Jr., 26, of Plaquemine, on Tuesday. He is charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and obstruction of justice in connection with the death of Kye Boudreaux, 26, of Plaquemine. Boudreaux was found shot to death on May 7 in what was described as a "horrendous scene." Detrell Scott, 22, of Plaquemine, was arrested the day of the murder and charged with first degree murder and armed robbery. Sheriff Brett Stassi said Georgetown is a relative of Scott. He added Scott and Boudreaux knew each other. Stassi reported Boudreaux's body was found at a camp off Grand River in Plaquemine. Detectives said Boudreaux was shot in the head. - (Black-on-white)

Samantha and Josh Davis said their son was being taunted during physical education class by another student just before the locker room attack that was recorded by a student's cellphone.     Tuscaloosa teenager charged with rape of 8-year-old girl, suspect will be tried as an adult

Brent Blankley, a Tuscaloosa Police Department spokesman, said a report was filed on May 9 that said the suspect had sexually assaulted the child recently. Juvenile investigators took the case on, and found cause to obtain warrants for the arrest of 16-year-old Anthony Jamal Hill. They arrested Hill Tuesday and charged him with first-degree rape and sodomy.

    Memphis man charged with raping second teenage girl

He was arrested and released on $7,500 bond as his case began the long trek through the court system. They each allegedly committed the acts while in a position of authority and holding a position of disciplinary power over a 16-year-old female.

Shareta Mason Authorities say an Oklahoma City woman was arrested after she allegedly took off her clothes and assaulted a police officer. Officers went to check on a woman who callers said was taking off her clothes on the side of the road. When police arrived, they allegedly saw 32-year-old Shareta Mason standing on the side of the road in her bra and panties. When officers came closer, she took off her bra. While she was in the back seat of a patrol car, police say she spit in an officer’s face. Authorities were forced to put a spit sock on her after she tried to lick her body and lick the back seat.

Lakeisha Johnson, who works at Tootsies, was initially suspected of stealing an iPad. Deputies say they spotted her jumping fences behind homes Monday morning. Deputies say when they approached Johnson she began taking off her clothes and using vulgar language. She was eventually arrested on a charge of resisting an officer without violence and was held on $100 bond. While Johnson was in the holding cell, she masturbated and took off her clothes repeatedly, exposing her genitals, buttocks and breasts, according to the report. A corrections deputy says she also offered to perform a sex act in exchange for her release.

    ‘Thief’ steals bread truck, makes deliveries in his underwear
David BastarWearing only his underwear, David Bastar, 30, of Nanuet stole a Grimaldi’s Home of Bread truck — full of $8,000 worth of baguettes, whole-wheat rolls and loaves of sourdough — on Second Avenue near East 99th Street around 3 a.m., police said. He then followed instructions mapped out on a piece of paper on the front seat, parceling out the baked goods to at least three restaurants and stores, police and bakery workers said. Realizing right away that the man was mentally unstable, an officer called an ambulance and Bastar was taken to Elmhurst Hospital’s psychiatric ward.

    Four arrested after Bay Area crime spree
Anthony Sherman,  Stanley Sherman and James MilesOne of the suspects, later identified as 25-year-old James Miles of Oakland, was armed with a firearm on his waistband, police said. The other suspects were identified as 19-year-old Stanley Sherman and 18-year-old Anthony Sherman, both of Santa Clara. Hispanic Man Pleads Guilty to Machete Attack
Eugenio Morales A Vineland man has pleaded guilty to attempted murder stemming from a machete attack that left a woman in critical condition. Eugenio Morales also pleaded guilty to illegal gun possession and aggravated assault on police officers. Prosecutors in Cumberland County say Morales hacked the woman in the head, face, arms and hands during the attack in August 2012. Two days later, authorities say Morales lunged at two officers with a knife as they tried to arrest him.

    Charges dropped against rape suspect despite DNA
Russell RossALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A suspected rapist is back on the streets even though investigators said both his DNA and photo linked him to at least a half dozen other assaults. Albuquerque police said they got multiple hits on Russell Ross' DNA when they tested it. But according to court records, he just got out of the county jail last week. Police got a DNA sample from him. Investigators said they believe Ross attacked the women between 2007 and 2009. Officers said he was looking for women who were intoxicated, alone and vulnerable. Police said his victims identified Ross through photos and DNA.

Anita J. Grace, 52, of Olive Branch, Ill., and Nita J. Smith, 52, of Wickliffe, Ky. were killed after they were stabbed. A 23-year-old employee was also stabbed. She was in critical condition. Her identity has not been released. Services for friends of Anita Grace will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20 at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill. The graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Olive Branch Cemetery with Rev. Earnest Brown officiating. A jury on Wednesday found Grady Shields, Jr. guilty of first-degree premeditated murder. Lois Cox, a 59-year-old industrial sales business owner in Kalamazoo, disappeared on Oct. 20, 1993. Her body was found six days later inside her vehicle about 20 miles south in Three Rivers. At the time of his arrest in Cox’s slaying, Shields was serving 15 to 25 years in prison for an armed robbery he committed two weeks after Cox’s body was found. Birl L. HillJessica CallanSAGINAW, MI — Nearly four years after the homicide of a Midland woman, Saginaw County prosecutors have charged a man in connection with her death. Prosecutors on the morning of Monday, May 19, charged Birl L. Hill with murder in the July 2010 shooting death of 23-year-old Jessica Callan. Hill, 37, is scheduled to appear before Saginaw County District Judge M.T. Thompson on Monday afternoon for arraignment on 12 felony charges, including first-degree premeditated murder and first-degree felony murder. Police found Callan's body on the morning of July 11, 2010, at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Her family and friends have organized vigils in her honor at the cemetery and created a website and Facebook page seeking justice for her. Prosecutors also have charged Jerry W. Simms, 32, with lying to a peace officer. His arrest warrant alleges he lied to state police Detective by telling them he was not in a vehicle with Hill and another male "when Jessica Callan was brought to Saginaw where she was murdered" and that he did not know Callan and had never seen her. Callan had an open case in Midland County in which she was charged with possessing marijuana. "It's a reminder that no good comes from being involved with drugs." - (Black-on-white)

Robert Sean Williams Chester "Chet" CullenLAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas man is facing several charges including murder, home invasion and assault with a deadly weapon after Metro Police say he burglarized a home, shot and killed a man at the Wetlands Park and a day later was involved in a standoff with police. 27-year-old Robert Sean Williams burglarized a home near the Wetlands Park in the eastern part of the Las Vegas valley on April 1. Besides taking a video game system, police say he also took a gun and ammunition from the home. While leaving the scene, police say he shot and killed 32-year-old Chester Cullen who was walking through the Wetlands Park. The next evening, police say, Williams broke into an apartment. The woman in the apartment was able to get out safely, and call police. When police arrived at the apartment, they say Williams refused to leave and at one point, pulled out the same gun stolen from the house the previous day and started shooting at police officers. Richard Diggs, 50, was ordered held at the Bergen County Jail on $250,000 bail, charged with sexual assault and child endangerment following his arrest. The boy’s mother alerted Mahwah police about the abuse and he was interviewed by prosecutor’s office Special Victims Unit detectives, the statement said. “During that interview, the child confirmed to the detective what he had previously disclosed to his mother,” Molinelli said. The boy was described as an acquaintance of Diggs.

According to police, James McWilliams, 29, faces a charge of first-degree sexual assault. Witnesses called police to report a man sexually assaulting an unconscious woman in an alley off Eighth Street between P and Q streets in the Haymarket area around 8:30 p.m. The woman told investigators she had been drinking at a bar with friends but doesn't know McWilliams, doesn't remember leaving the bar and didn't consent to sex.

    Iowa City Police Say Coralville Man Sexually Assaulted Woman
Landry W. S. AgonhoumeyIOWA CITY, Iowa — A Coralville man faces up to 10 years in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman last week. Iowa City police have charged 24-year-old Landry W. S. Agonhoumey with third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony. According to police, the victim reported that on May 16, she was asleep on a couch at an Iowa City residence. The woman told police she woke up to Agonhoumey having sex with her against her will. Agonhoumey held the woman down while forcing himself upon her, which caused the woman to suffer facial injuries, police said. Police said evidence collected as well as officer observations corroborated the woman’s account. Agonhoumey told police he tried to get the woman “in the mood,” but said she resisted his advances, according to the criminal complaint.

    New Iberia man arrested, accused of raping woman
James Neil White SrNEW IBERIA — Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office officials say a New Iberia man who forced a woman at knife point to drive to a secluded area and then raped her was jailed after being caught in Lafayette. Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested James Neil White Sr., 47, on a warrant for aggravated rape, auto theft and simple battery. Patrol deputies discovered the victim in a rural area near Loreauville on Saturday afternoon and transported her to a local hospital, where she was treated and interviewed by detectives. The suspect asked the victim for a ride, then brandished a knife and ordered her to secluded area, where he allegedly hit her several times and raped her. White left the victim and fled in her vehicle.

    Man wanted in Garysburg sexual assault case also wanted in two states
Curtis Antonio RamseyGARYSBURG — A man wanted in connection with a sexual assault in Garysburg Thursday has several aliases and is wanted in two states. The victim told police she’d been trying to get her former boyfriend, identified as 35-year-old Curtis Antonio Ramsey, to leave her residence earlier, but he wouldn’t leave. “When the victim tried to leave the incident turned violent,” Hasty said. “Mr. Ramsey allegedly threw the victim across the room and physically assaulted her.” The victim tried to defend herself by pulling the suspect’s hair, Hasty said, but Ramsey allegedly sexually assaulted the victim. At some point, Hasty said, the victim escaped, got in her car and fled.

CHARLESTON, SC - Charleston County deputies say eight students have been arrested after they were caught on surveillance video throwing rocks and food at passing cars while on their school bus. According to an incident report, Durham Bus Services notified Septima Clark Academy that several students on bus 529 threw items at a passing vehicles on May 8, causing damage to a truck. Officers arrived on the scene to find a dent on victim's passenger side roof/window area and "food splashed across the grill, hood, and windshield." The report states 17-year-old Kayla Gilliard was spotted getting on the bus with a "pizza box full of rocks," while a 16-year-old female student brought a "bag of food items." Multiple students on the bus then reportedly began to yell profanities at their 78-year-old bus driver as he tried to give them instructions. Kayla Gilliard Akeele Simmons, Shalaine Jenkins, Anton Simmons, Maurice Deveaux, Domonique Smith, Jordan Jasper, and Roberta Ravenell were all arrested and face a combined total of 16 warrants. The eight students were charged as adults.

    Police: International Nigerian crime ring operates from Atlanta suburbs
Nigerian criminalsDULUTH, GA - More than 100 members of an international crime ring operate out of the Atlanta suburbs, according to police in Gwinnett County. "I was an idiot," said the victim who lost another $55,000 after the scammers created an e-mail account in her name and asked her bank wire funds. Duluth police said some of the victim's money was sent to a bank account controlled by Chazek Investment, LLC on McCall Drive, Doraville. The company is registered to Charles Ezeoke, whom police said is from Nigeria. Ezeoke is one of three Nigerians living in the Atlanta area who are calling the shots in the crime ring that spans two continents and has raked in more than $13 million. Uwabunkeonye Nwokoro, who goes by the nickname "Smart," is one of the other alleged ringleaders. Duluth Police said Nwokoro was present when they arrested Ikechukwu Henry Nwaiwu last year on theft charges. Nwaiwu, of Duluth, was charged with operating dating and sweepstakes scams that duped two victims in Minnesota and Pennsylvania out of more than $50,000.

Clinton Jackson, 23, is charged with violating his probation and attempting to defeat a screening test. According to the Chicago Tribune, Jackson's probation officer noticed him pulling on something while he was taking the test, and discovered a fake penis connected to a hose and a bag filled with urine.

Romon Henderson is accused of fatally shooting Sheila Johnson, 54, during a robbery at 4A Good Auction in the 3900 block of Mansfield Highway on April 13. Johnson was shot multiple times in the torso, police said. Henderson was arrested on an unrelated aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge May 4. The capital murder charge was added Thursday. His bail has been set at $235,000 on both charges. Authorities said Johnson shot at burglars who broke into the auction business. They returned fire. She would often go to the auction barn late at night or sleep there after reporting multiple break-ins since December, police said. - (Black-on-white)

Edwards, 23, pleaded guilty to robbery. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors agreed to dismiss charges of murder and murder in the perpetration of a felony. According to court records, Edwards helped plan the March 4, 2012, armed robbery of the Lucky Mart Foods in Merrillville. Police said Blue was walking out of the store with two drawers of cash when he stopped and shot the store's clerk, Judi Simpson-Beaver. Deputy prosecuting attorney Robert Persin said Edwards' testimony during Blue's trial was instrumental in convicting Blue of murder. Blue, 23, was sentenced to 80 years in prison. Persin said Edwards also helped answer for the family why Simpson-Beaver, 48, of Merrillville, was killed. Simpson-Beaver was a Texas native and had two children.     Police Arrest Black Man Accused Of Killing White 89-Year-Old Great-Grandmother

DumasAnna Mae Eblen COLUMBUS, Ohio - Columbus Police say they have arrested the man who killed a great-grandmother on her 71st wedding anniversary. 89-year-old Anna Mae Eblen was home alone, when police say 58-year-old Willie L. Dumas entered her house on East 12th Avenue in April. Officers say Dumas robbed Eblen of $35 and then slit her throat. Police say DNA evidence links him to the crime. Dumas' sister lives next door to Eblen. Eblen's daughter said she believed the killer knew her mother was alone at the time of the crime. Linda Sloan says her father, Harold Eblen, was in the hospital at the time. She thinks whoever killed her mother, knew it. "This monster watched her. Took advantage of that little lapse moment there and killed her," said Sloan. Sloan says the death has been tough on Eblen's husband who finds the attack too tough to talk about. "They killed her on their 71st wedding anniversary. They got married April 17th and this person killed her on April 17th.     Black suspect arrested in Mother's Day double murder of two young white single mothers women that were 'friends'

Butler is charged with murdering 24-year-old Jacqueline Darlene Beadle and 26-year old Karyl Ann Cox at their home in the 3000 block of Bragg Street. Police were called to the residence at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 11 after Jacqueline Beadle's mother went to the home and found the two victims inside. Jacqueline's mother had gone to there to check on her after not hearing from her since the Friday before when Jacqueline took her child to her mother's home for babysitting. According to an indictment unsealed on Friday, the people who carjacked, kidnapped and killedQuick were members of the Bloods street gang who robbed stores and sold drugs before the murder. "On or about January 31, 2014, Daniel Mathis, Shantai Shelton, Mersadies Shelton and Travis Bell carjacked a vehicle belonging to Kevin Quick and kidnapped him," the indictment read. "[The suspects] drove around to various banks in Virginia, in Quick's vehicle, and made, or attempted to make, withdrawls from Kevin Quick's bank accounts. During some of these attempts, Quick was still in the vehicle being held against his will." The indictment went on to say the suspects murdered Quick and left his body in Goochland County woods. He moved to Port-au-Prince after the 2010 earthquake to help. Now, his family and friends wonder if someone he was helping took his life. He managed to call for help and told people he recognized his attacker, but didn’t give a name or a motive. “He leaves a wonderful legacy of making a difference,” says Pastor Larry McCarthy Jr.

    Black Oakland man gets only 6 years in vicious attack on White woman

Surveillance tape shot last June 30th during San Francisco's Pink Saturday celebration shows a young woman lying on a sidewalk being kicked in the head and knocked unconscious, moments after she was robbed by three people. On Friday, a San Francisco Superior Court judge sentenced 23 year-old Christopher Porter-Bailey, the Oakland man convicted in that vicious attack, to six years in prison. The 28 year-old victim- "Emily" came to court for the sentencing. She said the first time she saw the graphic video, she didn't realize it was her being assaulted. In the victim statement Emily read in court, she called Porter-Bailey's actions "evil" and said she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and had considered suicide after the attack. Emily said she was disappointed that the judge didn't hand down the maximum sentence of eight years. - (Black-on-white)

Potsdam police arrested Oral "Nick" Hillary, Clarkson University's soccer coach, Thursday afternoon. Hillary was charged with second degree murder after a sealed indictment was delivered to St. Lawrence County court. The suspect pleaded not guilty and is in county jail without bail. Hillary is accused of suffocating and strangling the boy at his home in October 2011. Garrett Phillips’ mother, Tandy L. A fugitive suspect in a 2007 triple-murder in southwest Florida has been extradited from Haiti. Deputy U.S. Marshal John Kinsey says Wesnel Isaac was arrested Saturday by Haitian national police in Carrefour, Haiti. U.S. authorities flew to the Caribbean country Thursday and returned to Florida with Isaac. Isaac was being held at the Lee County jail until his first court appearance Friday. Kinsey says a tip led investigators to Isaac in Haiti. Authorities say Isaac was one of four men who killed Robert Barckley, Scott Highfill and Willard Graham in September 2007. The bodies were found in a car in Lehigh Acres. One of Isaac’s codefendants received three life sentences after being convicted of second-degree murder and false imprisonment. Judge Raul Zambrano agreed with the jury's 12-0 recommendation for the death penalty for Quentin Truehill, 26, during a sentencing hearing Friday morning in the murder of Vincent Binder. "I consider him to be irredeemable," State Attorney R.J. Larizza said. "He got what he deserved. Truehill was the first of three suspects to stand trial in the killing of Binder in 2010. Truehill, Peter Hughes, 26, and Kentrell Johnson, 43, were jail escapees from Louisiana. Truehill had been convicted of robbing and killing another man. - (Black-on-white)
   

   

Chiracahua park employee recalls near-deadly attack by illegal immigrant
Illegal migrantKaren GonzaleTUCSON - A park employee left for dead at the Chiracahua National Monument nine months ago, speaks out about her attack. Karen Gonzales, 60, was viciously beaten in broad daylight in one of the park restrooms. She suffered a brain injury and is now walking with a limp. She said "I will never forget his face coming at me." Gonzales was cleaning the women's restroom at the Faraway Ranch Campground when she heard a noise, looked up, and saw her attacker come at her with a rock. The DNA evidence left behind tied 33-year-old Gilbert Gaxiola as her attacker. The Cochise Country Sheriff's department confirms Gaxiola is an undocumented immigrant. - (Drudge link)

Deputies have identified Jerry Lee Manigault, 53, as a suspect in the disappearance of Julia Ann Mudgett, 77, according to sheriff's spokesman Maj. Eric Watson. Manigault is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center on unrelated charges, Watson said. Manigault was arrested in Beaufort County by the Charleston County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshall Fugitive Task Force on Monday on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to re-register as a sex offender, according to Watson. - (Black-on-white)

Thaddeus ShieldsJennifer Chitwood MIDDLETOWN, Ohio —Middletown police arrest one man and one juvenile in connection with the house fire in the 2000 block of Roosevelt Avenue in Middletown Tuesday. Police said Thaddeus Shields, 18, was charged with aggravated arson, which is a second-degree felony. A 17-year-old juvenile was also arrested and charged with unruly to wit aggravated arson, officials said. Jennifer Chitwood said she has had on-going problems with teenagers in her neighborhood. Chitwood said teenagers have threatened to kill her and her family, and burn her house down. She said she even filed a police report the night before the fire. Chitwood said she didn't feel safe in her home and spent the night somewhere else with her daughter the night the fire was set. Lt.     Black Flint teen to spend upward of 30 years in prison despite acquittal of muder of 71-year-old White man
Estes Jamone WalkerWilliam E. BullockFLINT, MI -- A Flint teen was ordered to spend a minimum of nearly three decades in prison even after jurors acquitted him of killing a 71-year-old man. Estes Jamone Walker, 19, was sentenced Tuesday, May 13, by Genesee Circuit Judge Geoffrey Neithercut guilty of carjacking, first-degree home invasion and unarmed robbery following a four-day trial stemming from the death of 71-year-old William E. Bullock. Bullock, who was severely beaten during the home invasion, died three months later after he was released from the hospital. Officials say Bullock was severely beaten during the Jan. 11, 2013, attack at his home on West Dartmouth Street near Trumbull Avenue. The 71-year-old Bullock suffered face, head and neck injuries.     SEATTLE – According to a recent study, babies tend to play with others that look more like them. Researchers from the University of Washington noticed that babies were more willing to share their toys with others who shared their ethnicity.
